Richie brothers financing people lie like crazy
Young man out of Canada told me I was good to bid on semi trucks and my interest rate would be no higher than 7% and as long as it was year 2000 or newer that the length of the financing term would be 4-6 years. Low and behold, I win the bid on a 2006 truck and the young man comes back with like 40% interest plus 25% down of the purchase price. Needless to say, that is deceptive practices to get people to bid on items. Typical bait and switch practice. I will never deal with these sites again. I’ll get my own financing and buy something from a private party. Richie bros, iron planet you suck. Oh also, there is definitely shill bidding going on here. Whether it’s the auction site themselves doing it or the sellers doing it, everytime I would place a bid, I would get outbid and the timing would reset in order to try and get the piece that was being auctioned to go for a way higher price. Shady shady shady. Never again. 99% of this crap they are selling should be in the junk yard.

Do not purchase- Giant Scarpyard!
Most equipment doesn't work, missing parts, or not worth your time! Drove 10hrs on their account, didn't get vehicle only excuses and now they're denying any wrong doings. I advise everyone to go to the BBB with your issue. We need to shut this scammer down!

Poor Customer service
My first purchase with Iron Planet. I purchased 2 camcorders, the cameras were poorly placed together in a hard case(with no padding), then the hard case was placed into a cardboard box with padding on 3 sides. One of the cameras was damaged in shipping. I filed a dispute and Iron Planet passed the claim off to FedEx. FedEx eventually paid out 1/4 of my purchase price because that's the value Iron Planet placed on the purchase. I had to have my Credit Card company do a charge back to get my money returned. All I ever heard from Iron Planet "I am sorry for the delay, I get with my ream and get back with you." The response from Iron planet was to close my account.

Scam
Bs to say the least. Placed a bid on a Truck, it didn't say it wasn't running in the description. They refused to recall my bid. Will be filing a law suit with them

Iron clad assurance and inspection is a scam
I bought an out of state 2001 f350 with iron planet but through gov Planet. The truck inspection is not filled with all the defects for a reason and why there are a lot of pictures. My truck inspection had nothing bad written on it and the reason I bid on the truck was no leaks was written on the inspection and the engine sounded good on the video. Nothing else was written negatively but the mileage was at 180000. Where to start? No brakes s(sticking really bad)no parking brake and the brake dust shields were completely rotted out. Bottom of cab rotted through on both sides under the door. Single cab door locks were both vandalized at one point and can’t open or close with key. There is a oil leak dripping from bottom of the engine. Oil in the coolant which was very visible in their photos. Oil pan was rotted out and the air filter was in the worst case of the clogged I have ever seen. Reported , took pictures sent all the paperwork they asked for and even confirmed the leaks with a ford mechanic written estimate. In the end they said my case was invalid. Reasons given why the vehicle is invalid too old and should expect it (nowhere in the iron clad does age of the vehicle is mentioned in fact what they do say is bid with confidence and be assured our inspectors did their job)the oil leak on the ground is coming from the top of engine so that made it invalid ? The oil in the coolant was my favorite. The policy states if you find a defect and it’s visible in the inspector photos but he didn’t write on his inspection that defect is invalid. You can see oil in the coolant overflow tank but it was invalid because the assured inspector didn’t write it in his inspection.SMH , Everything else I wrote didn’t count because it wasn’t in the pictures and wasn’t mentioned. Smh. I called the number they gave and a dispute office rep lady’s answer machine comes on but She never calls back.I left a bunch of messages I called there customer service which was my only light through this mess because they can at least read what going on with your case number but can’t do nothing else. My case was sent to Ritchie bros rep. the guy in charge of handling the disputes of my state from Ritchie bros. was jerk from the beginning called me and told me he couldn’t believe his inspection guy missed the oil leak and needed a mechanic estimate even though the pictures I sent clearly show the puddle of oil under the vehicle and that odometer was still the same. Called him back told him I got the estimates he said he would call me back in a week. A week goes by with no response I call no response try customer service they don’t have an update leave a message at the lady’s number and nothing. Next day I get an email with a very few words saying my dispute was invalid and they are not helping . Well that bid with confidence statement just went out the door.I was then ghosted by this guy no one is responding to emails call messages or picking up there phone. I’m stuck . Read the policy it’s online. Buy expecting hidden defects from inspection.expect no real help from their iron clad assurance. See the vehicle in person if possible.

Iron Clad Assurance is a Scam
Iron Clad assurance is a scam Purchased a pc of equipment with 649 hours, The truck driver who transported the unit to Canada called me to get a winch truck lined up to unload it as oil flooded his deck, I had a mechanic come and look at the unit, he found a crack in the oil pan and a missing skid plate, I notified Iron Planet-Ritchie Bros of this (It took several weeks to have them acknowledge my emails and calls) They said I was outside the 3 week warranty period despite me not having used the machine, The person who finally called me after several weeks was, ignorant, arrogant and condescending.
Iron Clad Assurance is a SCAM, its just used to drive the price up, they deliberately leave pictures out showing the oil pouring out
They offered no assistance what so ever !
Beware Unethical !

Purchased a ford F250 that had been stolen w/out my knowledge
Horrible experience bought truck for high price 72,000.00 paid cash on 2/17/22. Had truck delivered and it took 2 weeks to get title so could not drive truck for 2 weeks. I got the title on Friday 3/11/22. went to register next day 3/12/22. Drove truck to maybe have inspection but ended up not needing inspection. the lady at the desk said she had to call the police the truck was stolen. I sat their with the police for 4 hours while they call the police department in another state to find out what happened. Thank God I had seasoned officers that realized I did not steel the truck so they called original owners who verified the truck had been retrieved. I finally was able to leave with truck and new title. Unfortunately I paid a premium for the truck and car fax has it as stolen.
Iron planet has said their is no claim. If you ask Kelly blue book the value is depreciated anywhere from 20-50% . If I go to sell I will loose that money and if I had known that it had been stolen I would not have bid on the truck.
so far I am in the process of getting an attorney.

Missing parts from a truck
I won a bid on a truck, right before I paid I discovered through an agent missing parts. I feel that it was on bad faith they did not divulge it and possibly other things are missing. I want to back out of the deal now. Has it happen to anyone else?

MY EXPERIENCE WAS HORRIBLE.
MI EXPERIENCIA HA SIDO PESIMA. ESTABA COMPRANDO UN CAMION QUE SALIO EN 4750 DOLARES. EMPECE CON LA APUESTA HASTA UN MAXIMO DE 8 MIL DOLARES. MAS NADIE APOSTO MAS QUE YO, PENSE QUE HABIA SIDO EL GANADOR. PUES NADIE SUPERO LA OFERTA. PERO LO QUE NO SE DICE NI SE VE EN LA SUBASTA QUE YA EN DIAS ANTES HABIA UNA PERSONA QUE APOSTO POR 8 MIL DOLARES, ESTA INFORMACION ES OCULTA SEGUN EL SERVICIO AL CLIENTE. MI PREGUNTA ES COMO UNO PUEDE SABER QUE YA HAY UN APOSTADOR SI ELLOS NO DAN ESA INFORMACION.ANTES QUE COMIENCE LA SUBASTA. PESIMO DE VERDAD.
CREO QUE LA MISMA SUBASTA SE QUEDO CON EL CAMION. AQUI TODO ES UN NEGOCIO.

Scam tactics
I've bought several pieces of equipment from Ritchie bros and while I have several issues nothing to get too worked up about. That was until I tried bidding on their other company Iron Planet. I was trying bid on a JCB Telehandler. The auction bid was currently at $47.000 and I bid $48,000, then an instant bid came in at $49,000 and the auction reset for 2 days away again. I waited another 2 days and bid $50,000 and another instant bid came in at $51,000 and the auction again reset for 2days later. Pissed off I called the auction and the lady acted like she had no idea why this was happening but she would let me talk to the sales center and I could try to negotiate a higher price. I told her no thanks and was really disappointed in this bait and switch tactic. I just waited another 2 days and again as the auction got under 1 minute I bid $52,000 and again the auction reset for 2 days. I found out if you reach the minimum price and you are the only bidder is reset the clock for 2 days and you don't win the auction. I will never use this auction site again as this is a scam to cheat people into having to bid higher when they should have won the auction.

If you like being in limbo then Richie Brothers, Iron Planet and Truck Planet are your company
It's hard to describe the pain it is to get your title from this company for a vehicle that was purchased 6 weeks ago. I had to go to the seller to ask for a duplicate title but Richie Brothers refused to acknowledge that I purchased it. I had to send the seller all of my documentation to get any help. Richie Brothers must have a massive legal budget because they don't just neglect you. They will get in the way of a resolution.

Seller backs out after item won
I purchased an excavator and another lot that had 3 buckets on a Thursday morning. I won the auction cheaper than my max bid and was super happy. I sent my wire transfer to the account noted on the invoice and waited. On Monday I sti hadn't heard anything so I called to find out what was going on, they give you a certain time to have it moved by, and had truck trailer waiting to go. They stated the Seller backed out after the auction and gave no reason. After a heated arguement with the Assets team, I was told that my money would be returned and my wire transfer fee was between me and my bank. I still havent received my money or an apology. I will let everyone I know that is looking for equipment to never use them.

Shady dealings
I purchased a mini excavator form a sunbelt rental in Georgia via Iron Planet, upon delivery the unit was missing hydraulic lines, inspected and pictured in the add. Obviously Sunbelt rentals stole lines from the excavator I purchased for another one. I replaced the lines and attempted to file a claim with "IRONCLAD" Insurance program what a joke, there is a 750 dollar deductible for any claim, which you are responsible for even in the case of parts being taken off your purchase. Because I replaced the lines in order to utilize my excavator the claim was denied. So beware parts can be stolen off your purchase as long as its below the value of 750. I value customer service and a reputable company, but Iron Planet is not one of them.

Overall I have been very happy with Iron Planet. I did just purchase 2 safes from them that were keyed. it said nothing in the inspection report about no keys . I was told by customer service that unless the keys are in the picture even tho the safes were open they do not included keys. And this information is in there buying policy. so folks read that carefully and know no pictures of keys no key that goes foe everything as I was told

I just took delivery of two 18 foot conveyors, bought on iron planet from a sunbelt rental store in lake Charles , sulphur Louisiana. I read that one of the conveyors electric motors was inoperable. That seemed acceptable, the other said nothing about the operation of the conveyor, so I assumed one worked the other needed an electric motor. Upon receiving the conveyors and inspection neither work, and both appear to have been underwater for extended period of time, so not only do the motors not work, all other electronics are fried, basically we spent approximately 7000. Dollars for two pieces of aluminum, and 2 rubber belts. Most of the responsibility rests with me for having made the mistake of trusting both iron planet and sunbelt rentals ,I thought that both American company's would have some ethics and morals and attempt to do right by people bidding on their items. I'm sure both will stand behind their disclaimers, so they carry no responsibility. American businesses ,moral compass is in sad state of affairs. And I made the mistake of assuming national company's would operate with some level of honesty.

Will never bid on the Iron Planet or Richie Bros auction site again. Excessive charges(10%) and then add on charges like charging for
a bill of sale.
Warning: Be careful with bidding on the two above auction sites. Bidadoo is much easier and less expensive to work with.
