We have reviewed the diagnosis and repairs of vehicle in questionThe initial diagnosis was a leak external of the engine
The engine water pump was found to be leakingAs the vehicle had XXXXX miles it was recommended to replace the timing belt, tensioners and rollers as this is a recommended service item at 100,milesThe customer approved the repairThis did stop the external coolant leak but did not solve the coolant loss problemAs we respect the customers wish for a full reimbursement, they did get some value of the timing belt replacement that is a maintenance itemThe leaking coolant cap is clearly a misdiagnosis on our part as well as the head gasket leaking diagnosis
As for a fair settlement, we are willing to reimburse the labor involved in the repair$and the cost of the coolant cap $
Please advise if this is acceptable

I am questioning all the repairs made by Merced VW including those outside of the leak issueI would not have authorized the other services if not for the fact that Merced VW had diagnosed the water pump as the source of the leakClearly it was notAnd neither was the cap nor the head gasketThe amount they are offering as a compromise is insufficient to cover the time wasted and hassle of bringing the car back to VW Merced and finding alternate source of transportation to and from Merced and Stockton, my place of employment
