I and MANY in and around the town of [redacted] have had very bad experiences with Dr. W[redacted] and his staff. They have pulled wrong teeth, broken someone's jaw, always want to do root canal...its never just a cavity etc. but most of a lot of patients have been told they need unnecessary work done when they haven't. These people who have been told they need root canal or need a tooth pulled etc have gotten second opinions and didn't need that extensive work done. The work that might have been needed was at most times a simple cavity filled. He has scammed numerous people out of money. If there is a bad review written about him and he finds out he has called that person and then proceeds to threaten. He has done that to a local businessman. He told him he would start writing bad things about his business. He is not a good dentist or a professional person. Besides him and the other owner, the other dentists they have come and go like they have a revolving door of dentists. And the same goes for their hygienist. Never the same one 6 months later when I had gone back. And they only give you a half hour surface cleaning. I personally know a hygienist who has been doing this for 25+ years and applied for a job there. After hearing how they gave cleanings walked out. She said she could never in good conscience give a patient a cleaning that was not done correctly. She said they want there patients in and out fast so they can get more people done in a day. More money in their pockets once again. But as I said earlier the worst part it that he is a thief and a scam artist as he tells you false things that are wrong with your teeth. I am so happy I was one of the people that went for the second opinion and found out all the work he wanted to do was not needed. DO NOT ever go to Island Dental.

My name is [redacted]. and 5 weeks ago I cracked my tooth. Went to Island Dental Associates and explained to the person at the front desk that I cracked my tooth. Was told I would have to pay out of pocket for my tooth to be taken care of. I told them I have insurance, which they said they would not take because I came in as an emergency and not as an appointment. So I made an appointment and left. Came in my appointment time, they took x-rays and told me that I needed a root canal and a crown which they doubt my insurance would pay for, but they would submit the paperwork and I would have to wait 2 weeks and they will call me when the approval comes in or I can pay out of pocket and it would cost approximately $2500. Three weeks later I show up at the Dental office and asked why no one contacted me and their reply was “oh sorry”. At that time I was also told that the insurance company denied the claim, but they would submit again if I wanted them to. So I call up my insurance company to find out why my claim was denied and was told that there was no denial on file because they never received any paperwork from my dentist. So I again go to Island Dental and was told I was going to have to pay out of pocket.

Fortunate for me I had a dentist from [redacted] Queens who just started training with me. He told me to come in to see him the next morning and let him look at the tooth. I went to his office at 10 am the next morning, walked out 10:20 am with my tooth fixed; no root canal, no crown, no extraction. And he had no problem taking my insurance.

MORAL OF THE STORY IS: ISLAND DENTAL ASSOCIATES IS A MONEY HUNGRY SCAM PRACTICE.

Review: My son underwent dental implant surgery by Island Dental Asssociates. They charged me $14,000 that I had to pay at the time of service. Within a few months, my son's implants fell out and had to be redone.

I was later informed that our insurance company had issued a reimbursement check made out to Island Dental Associates. I called to request that Island Dental reimburse me since the insurance company was reimbursing them for a bill I'd already paid. Instead they cashed the insurance checks in February. I have called several times and requested that they send me the reimbursement. On May [redacted], they said they were issuing a check to us. It is now June [redacted], and we've yet to receive the reimbursement they cashed in February. When I called, they admitted that they haven't issued the check.Desired Settlement: To receive the medical reimbursement money that is rightfully ours because we paid Island Dental in full at the time of service.
