I am sorry, he is on vacation and he is in charge of the training here and he is the one who makes the decisionsI have printed out the complaint and waiting for him to come back and respond

I am waiting for the fitness director to get back from vacation

Review: Island Gym ran a 6 month membership special for $99 in February 2014. I signed up and paid the $99 in full, in cash. I was told I needed to have a card on file in case I wanted to continue a membership after the 6 month special expired. I was not aware that this was an automatic decision made by the gym to charge my card because I only knew that once my 6 months was expired I was no longer a member. Now over a year later, they have charged me over $270 for NOT attending their gyms and refuse to refund me, claiming it is their agreement that I continue to be charged as a member unless I had canceled my "membership" on my own. So after not having set foot in their gym in over a year, I am still being charged as a member. Had I been aware of this scam, I never would have signed up for this gym in the first place. I spoke with someone from their corporate office and was told there is nothing they will do for me.Desired Settlement: I want a full refund back to my card as I did not utilize their establishment and was charged regardless

Review: I just recently signed up for a gym membership as per signing up I received 2 free weeks of training. When I went for my training I was talked into signing up for a FITx membership. I did a down payment but then realized I could not afford it. As per my contract I had 14 days to cancel and ONLY be required to pay the initial sessions but after I was charged an additional $180. However, I still had two free weeks of training left that they never told me about. It seems they only cared about getting me to sign up for another membership. I tried speaking to both lead trainers and the owner and after I FINALLY got ahold of them they all told me I had to pay it.

In addition to this company’s money hungry ways I also noticed some other things that upset me during my brief time there. First of all I think it is extremely unprofessional how I kept receiving the run around when it came to this issue. They quickly scheduled me and took my money but when it came to me having an issue everyone avoided me. I also purchased a tanning membership for $11. On several occasions I went to tan and the bed was not clean. Thankfully the spray was in there so I was able to clean it myself. My friend also told me she experienced similar issues.

Overall, this gym could be great. The regular membership is a great price, the hours are good, and the location is perfect. However, these are major issues. I cannot even count on one hand the number of people I know that has had issues with this gym.Desired Settlement: I just want to be refunded the money I am owed. The contract said I ONLY needed to pay for my initial sessions which I did even though they should have been free (I received two weeks free) as long as I cancelled within the first 14 days. I think I cancelled within 2.
