On Friday August 30, 2019 I purchased a Cat Tower from Island Petware for $140.00 plus tax using my *** Card. On Saturday August 31, 2019 we found that the exact same item was being sold by *** for $90.00 dollars plus tax and free shipping. We contacted the owner of Island Petware and was told that nothing could be done. So on Sept 1st we returned the item to Island Petware for a refund. We were given a refund for the purchase price less $10.00 dollars in a cheque. The difference being claimed as an inconvenience to the owner. The sale was not listed as a final sale, there is nothing anywhere stating re-stocking fees, no postings anywhere about no returns or anything of this kind. I do not understand why we were not given the full value back or why the credit was not done against my *** card.
1. When a customer pays in cash, a full refund in cash results.2. When a customer pays by credit card, we charge $10.00 fee due to the fact that there is a 3% fee withheld by the credit card POS system. We, the merchant in this case, wrote a cheque to *** for $151.00 dated September, 03, 2019. That cheque has been cashed.Hope this clarification is satisfactory for all parties.***-- Island Petwear
I am rejecting this response because:I believe if the business had done a credit thru the POS system they would not have been charged the 3 percent. And this was not explained to us at time of purchase or return. Also 3 percent of $161.00 dollars is 4.83. Not $10.00.
