 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: The response is a lie. The minimum set on the Chagall was $3500! We only set minimums on a few specific, valuable items. The Jewelry he refers to resulted in one sale for $60. My wife was stunned I trusted him with our jewelry, but he talks a good story. The fact is we were not called at the end of each day as promised. We were told there would be employees watching all over our home for security, but neighbors ( several ) who went to the sale told us all they saw was one guy collecting money and a girl sitting on our stairs doing nothing. My wife was in tears as much of our home was ravaged. Switch- plates removed from walls, a baby album torn apart with our daughter's infant pictures stomped on the floor, a cemented down cat grave marker stolen, many areas that were literally trashed! When we returned, my wife was horrified as unsold jewelry and small estate items were literally thrown into a box on the floor so their display cases could be removed. We were in the door a few minutes when I had to actually chase him to his car as he and his wife bolted from our driveway before we could finish our questions. The bottom line is that I knew we would have to accept some losses and disappointments in this type of sale, but the Chagall was a specific valuable item that we agreed on special terms regarding it's sale ahead of time. He is simply not telling the truth about our agreed minimum of $3500. It is clear that as the sale was drawing to an end, he felt that 30% of $2000 was better than nothing and he knew that once it was sold there was nothing I could do . Clearly the deceit on his response shows that I-stuff Sellers cannot be trusted with items of value!

Being one of Maryland and Virginia's biggest estate liquidation companies regularly doing 2 to 3 estate sales a weekend with hundreds and hundreds of very happy customers and thousands and thousands of happy shoppers, we try very hard to make sure all of our clients needs are met. It is unfortunate that [redacted] is not one of those hundreds of happy customers. If by chance another company would have held [redacted]s estate sale and sold his printed picture for DOUBLE what we sold it for, I would be very curious to see if they would have fared as well as we did in total profits selling the majority of [redacted]s belongings. Transparency with every customer we deal with, is an utmost. There is no grey area to what we do, everything is out in the open, all parties see exactly what we price items at, based on market value. And to shed some light on how estate sale companies operate, NO other estate sale company in the industry allows clients to set minimum prices on items. One reason that makes us Maryland's number one most viewed estate sale company is our flexibility with our clients and our understanding on how difficult it can be in letting personal possessions go. As long as a realistic exceptions of market value are met, we can set some firm pricing on specific pieces. We are the only estate liquidation company that allows prices negotiated by clients. I believe this whole situation really boils down to a miscommunication error between [redacted] and myself. And we will take this into consideration as we move forward with future clients who have minimums on certain pieces. Obviously, having price tags on all of the household items and the family free to inspect all prices at any given time is not enough to ensure that everybody is on the same page. We will take steps to ensure that this miscommunication doesn't happen again. And it was very surprising to see this issue arise after almost 4 months of completing [redacted]s estate sale.

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: All I can say is the whole point that he knew if no minimum was set I would not sell the Chagall. The price label when we left was $4500 (with an agreement not to sell for less than $3500 without calling me first). It does not matter what other companies policies are, an agreement is an agreement. This lithograph was a family heirloom and also has an inherent value. The delay in filing my complaint was simply that I had to think long and hard before potentially damaging someone's business. My wife was more upset than I, considering all the other misleading things that occurred during our sale. The primary problem was a lack of security that had been promised. Once again, I have no personal agenda or potential gain other than to warn others against using this estate sale company!

Even dealing with the difficult rural location in [redacted], we were still able to net over $12,000 in total gross sales in 3 days time. The first estate sale company [redacted] met with said he wouldn't be able to make over $500 and that he might as well throw away many of his items....

The second company [redacted] met with said they wouldn't do his sale because he didn't have over $40,000 in total gross proceeds. We knew our ability in marketing and estate liquidation and decided to assist [redacted] despite all the living condition difficulties of the house. We were the only estate sale company out there that was willing to agree to [redacted]s demands on setting firm pricing of items. Everything done is out in the open because all items have price tags on them days in advance before the sale. Pricing is seen by all parties at all times. And any questions on any of our pricing can be discussed at any time through out the estate sale process. Unfortunately, [redacted]s recollection of events is inaccurate. Our
agreed upon minimum price for the Chagall print was $1,800. We sold it
for more than the minimum amount at $2,000. He even intrusted us with selling over $50,000 in gold jewelry. We kept in constant contact with him and his wife through out the whole process. And when they returned after the last day of the sale, they were very pleased with how much we sold as well with the total sales proceeds. We laughed as we walked through the house as he repeatedly said, "Oh my God, I can't believe you sold that!" But after the sale [redacted] was disappointed by the fact that we would not buy out his left over diamond rings collection at above market price despite repeated requests and calls. Our company does not mix interests when it comes to the buying and selling of our clients belongings. This practice is shunned upon by the estate sale community.

About 2 months ago I contacted this business and spoke with Darren the owner concerning our need to host an estate sale. On July 25, 2016 I contacted him again to enlist his services and he agreed to assist with our sale. He went to our home viewed our items and the process began. While it was a short turnaround he did think we had great items and he could complete the sale July 29th, 30th and 31st. If things didn't sell he agree to do the sale the following weekend. Darren asked for a key to my unoccupied house and having someone meet him to give him access was not adequate. Site unseen and never having met in person he wanted complete access. Additionally he demanded that my husband who was flying in for the sale stay completely off property and would not allow us to set minimum pricing for our items.
He was rude and slurred his words when I spoke with him on Monday night to finalize the deal. He agreed on Monday night that my husband could be there and that we would be able to discuss minimum prices for our items. On Tuesday morning I sent him a completed contract acknowledging our agreed terms and he cancelled the sale. It is a bit suspicious that we could not be on site at all and could not set any minimum pricing. Lastly who would turn over a key to someone they don't know. Just as I read in another complaint Darren went from accommodating to rude and direspectful.

iStuffSellers is an excellent way to move an estate or household, without the trauma of pricing and doing the sale yourself. The prinicipals are great to work with - thorough, knowledgeable about the market, and highly professional. They take all of the pain out of the process. Great marketing to interest a crowd, abundant directional signs to get them there, and a smooth checkout process. Couldn't be happier!

I have shopped with this company on many occasions and find them to be honest, fair and trustworthy. I always leave as a happy customer.

Review: I stuff ran our estate sale in [redacted] a few months ago. There were a certain number of items that they agreed on minimum pricing due to inherent value. A specific item was a large, original, signed and numbered Chagall lithograph, These retail for anywhere between $5000 and $18000. It was agreed that the lowest they would sell for without calling me first was $3500. After the second sale day, I called because we had not received our daily call as promised. That was when I was notified that they had sold our Chagall for $2000 without ever calling to check as promised. Of course it was denied that there was an agreement, only saying estate sellers don't usually do minimum prices and that "the smalls" are where will make up for our loss. I really could not do much at the time since this was a cash sale and any argument would have invited being cheated in another way. We were at their mercy. I am sure the opinion on I-stuff's end was 30% of $2000 is better than nothing, but I would not have sold for so little if given the choice as we had agreed!Desired Settlement: We should receive an additional $1050 ($3500 - $2000 = $1500, $1500x70%=$1050)
