RevDex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. I made arraignments to be there when the plumber came even though they were the company my insurance assigned because they were the ones who agreed to let the management company allow access. They also claimed that my management company denied that procedure when contacted but I have written documentation of their agreement. The plumber did not make the repairs that day. The plumber actually talked to the front desk and made the arraignments for the day of the repair, not me. He walked out of the unit stating he would have to get approve from the insurance company. When he came back everything was arraigned with and I was not even given a timeframe for the day of the repairs. The issue would not have been resolved if I had been there because I was not the one who identified the issue. It was the contractor who identified the issue and that is who I want to over see the work when it is repaired so that it gets repaired correctly. Island Mann refused. The job of a contractor is to make repairs and oversee work so it seems Island Mann is just trying to be difficult. Island Mann failed to repair correctly the first time and should come when my contractor is there. Alternative I agreed to again make myself available in the evening or on the weekend to accommodate Island Mann. Island Mann states that their agreement with the insurance company was normal business hours but this isn't a normal repair. This is Island Mann correcting their subpar repairs. Regards, [redacted]

Mrs*** was informed that we are more than willing to take care of this issueAs company policy all home owners are required to be on site while technician is at home for liability and customer service purposesShe was informed of this before we agreed to do the work Despite being
informed by Islnad Mann Plumbing managment she made arrangements with her management company and the tech to be let in and did not show up when the faucet was replaced , which would have allowed these issues to be addressed at time of service As for the tile falling off the wall, behind the tile was wet and deteriorated from age and the wall being wet from the leaking faucet If the spout needs the be reinforced we are will to make the correction, she again was informed that we are willing to go and correct the plkumbing issueShe was offered a appointment during business hours per her contract with her *** *** who paid for the service but she refusedWe realize that having a vacation home on the beach not close to your home and work has its challenges but we are not responsible for showing up weekends or evenings for service Please schedule during business hrs and the plumbing issue will be taken care of

I personally spoke to [redacted] and let them know that we would not accept the work order without the homeowner being there. I also confirmed this personally with the management at the condo location. On that same conversation, management let me know that they would not let us in anyway because they did not want to accept liability for us being there without the homeowner. I spoke with the homeowner before scheduling and let her know that she would need to be there for any work that we perform. The homeowner stated that this is not relevant to the current issue, but I wanted to make sure that everyone is on the same page that she needed to be there while any work was being performed. With regards to the issues that the homeowner is complaining about, our contract is with [redacted]. There is a procedure in place anytime a second trip is needed to resolve an issue with a work order. That procedure involves going out during normal business hours to resolve any issues with any given work order. We were willing to correct the issue under normal business hours with the homeowner present, and I communicated this with the homeowner. She refused, stating that she did not want to take off work to meet us there. Bottom line, we will not accept liability and perform work while the homeowner is not on site. This is the same reason the original company that was assigned by [redacted] did not accept the work order. It is also why the condo management told me specifically that they would not let us in without the homeowner there – they did not want to accept liability for that. It is NOT normal business practice for a contractor to oversee another contractor. Our company policy does not allow that either. The homeowner’s proposed solution for us to “refund the money” is not an acceptable solution. Our contract is with [redacted], and any monies that were paid are protected under that contract. The homeowner did not directly pay us anything, as there was no service call fee associated with this work order. [redacted], the homeowner’s [redacted] company, who hired us to perform the work and paid us directly, is satisfied with the work that we performed and is not seeking a refund from us. The homeowner’s proposed solution would be an attempt to modify an existing contract that we have with [redacted]. She has no basis, legal or otherwise, to modify that contract. Therefore, Island Mann Plumbing and Drain Cleaning feels that there is no reason to continue to respond to this complaint as this is an argument that is going around in circles. The bottom line is that the homeowner is not involved in our contract with [redacted]. She is free to pursue other solutions through [redacted] since she does not want to take time off to meet us on site to resolve the issue during normal business hours.

I was there during normal business hours the first time Island Mann came out even though Island Mann was assigned this work specifically because they were will to do the work with management company allowing access.  Island Mann was the second company assigned by the insurance company because the first would not accept access by the management company.  The case would have never been moved from the first company to Island Mann had they not agreed to this up front.  Regardless, I still made arraignments to be on-site.  Island Mann then arranged with the management company to come back the following Tuesday without my input, as stated before.  None of this actually relevant to the current issue.  Island Mann did subpar work.  The piping system had a bracket to attach the piping to the wall stud (water spout in tub).  Instead of taking the time to do the job properly and attach the pipe to the wall stud, Island Mann wedged an old piece of pipe between the wall stud and the new pipe they installed.  This made the water spout at the bathtub loose and if someone were to pull on it the loose wedged pipe would fall out causing the newly installed piping to be complexly loose.  I gave Island Mann two options to make this right.  My preferred option was to do the repair during normal business hours under the supervision of my paid contractor (not management company as before).  It is normal business practice for contractors to oversee the work of other contractors.  My contractor was actually the person who pointed out the issue with Island Mann's work.  This time I wanted the contractor on site with the instructions to make sure the work was done to correctly.  I also stated I would make myself available in the evenings and on the weekend.  Again, not my preferred option since I wouldn't know if it the work was done correct but I was trying to accommodate Island Mann. Additionally, I do not believe I should have take time off from my job again to be there during normal business hours just stand there just watch my contractor make sure the job is done correctly especially since this is Island Mann's issue to fix.  There is no value to me being their other than Island Mann wanting to difficult.  Since Island Mann is unwilling to work to with me during normal or after hours times then they should just refund the money so we can get another company to make the repair.  Additionally, Island Mann's statement "normal business hours" is their contract with the insurances.  I gave them an option for normal business hours but regardless this is Island Mann repairing their improper work and not just a normal job under their contract.
