In reference to the above complaint,Our company was performing storm damage work in the area of the homeowner when we had noticed damage to the homeowner's roof from the wind and had brought the damage to their attention. We informed them that the damage was covered by their homeowners
insurance so they filed a claim in which we helped assist the homeowner withThe insurance company covered for a partial roof replacement and partial gutter replacement. Our representative provided the homeowner with an estimate to replace the remaining portions of the roofing and gutters so that it would be a complete job. We also upgraded their shingles from a tab year shingle, which the insurance was paying for because that is what they had previously, to a year architectural dimensional shingle with no additional cost for the portion of the roof being paid for by the insurance. We were supposed to install *** *** underlayment to the roof at no charge instead of traditional felt paper underlayment. Due to an oversight on our part, *** *** was not installed but to compensate the homeowner for our mistake, we credited them $off of the cost of the job as that was the cost of the material on our end. Again, we did not charge the homeowner originally for the *** ***. The customer expressed concerns that the felt paper is not sufficient, which has been a standard practice since the start of roofing, and is up to township code along with what was being paid for by the insurance company. We also offered to upgrade the homeowner from a year labor warranty to a year labor warranty to provide them a peace of mind that there would be no problems with the roof.In reference to the gutters, is the standard thickness that is traditionally installedThat gauge is for a standard 5" 'k' gutter. At the time of installation, the homeowner spoke to the crew and they had explained the difference between the gutter thickness and had agreed to let them continue installing the gutters. We provided the homeowner a year guarantee on the gutters due to his concern that the gutters were not thick enough. Typically gutters do not carry any form of guarantee against rot.In reference to the nails coming through the roof, we re-nail any loose boards prior to the roof being installed using impact nail guns. Sometimes the nails don't strike the rafter the first time and more nails are added. The nails seen coming through are extra nails that did not hit the rafter prior to new ones being re-nailed into the rafter, which can be seen from the roof. Otherwise you would see bumps from the wood sticking up and from the inside you can see it is securely fastened. In reference to the roof fan, the fan is older and we did not disconnect the fanWe shingled under the flashing and that does not fall under any of our warranties as we did not install itOlder fans tend to make noiseThe fan was re-installed in the proper manner and has nothing to do with the fan functioning. To note to date, we have not yet been paid in full for the work completedWe are doing everything that we can to satisfy the homeowner
