The traveler first contacted us on Mar 20, 2020 at 9:55am requesting how to cancel his reservation. He received a response from us at 10am the same day giving him the options being extended to travelers: 1) move the booking to a later date with no fee or 2) receive a 50% refund. At 5:47pm the same evening the traveler responded that he would take the option to receive an account credit to move his booking within the next year. This is what was done and the traveler was notified via email with confirmation that his request was completed. The traveler mentions that they are now quarantined, but the stay-at-home order was put in place on March 24, 2020 at 12:01 am which is beyond the time of his request and was not applicable at the time of his initial communication. Additionally, we are a vacation rental management company and do not own the properties. The travelers and property owners have a rental agreement and we are not authorized to refund money outside of the terms of the rental agreement without owner consent. Due to these unprecedented times, flexibility was extended in the above mentioned forms. No one person should have to shoulder the burden completely. As the travelers email to us stated, we are all in this together.

As previously stated we are NOT the property owner but the rental manager. The consumer has a rental agreement with the owner with cancellation policy. Please see attached with cancellation policy. Consumers are also informed to purchase travel insurance. This booking was inside the 30 & 60 day cancellation policy guidelines and therefore no refund was actually due. However, due to the unprecedented circumstances flexibility was applied to the policy and the consumer was offered a 50% refund of monies paid or a credit of 100% of monies paid toward a future booking. As per the previously attached email, the consumer DID ask if they could have the credit for a full year because they couldn't select their new booking dates at this time. I've resubmitted and highlighted for reference. The consumer may still receive a 50% refund which is outside the normal terms of cancellation policy due to these unprecedented times, or a 100% credit toward a future stay as previously requested by the consumer and noted in our booking system on 3/21/2020. If we're truly "all in this together" as the consumer says, then no one person or entity should bare 100% of the loss, but rather share equally.
