It's Just Lunch! Inc. Reviews (12)

It’s Just Lunch regrets to learn of any dissatisfaction the consumer has experienced as this is not the norm with IJL. The consumer has expired and no longer has an active IJL Membership. The Consumer was provided 3 matches which he declined the opportunity to meet. The Consumer’s membership...

agreement was for one (1) month or one (1) date, whichever comes later and further states the following: Before receiving a Date Introduction, an IJL representative may present Client with one or more candidates for Client’s evaluation for a Date Introduction (a “Match”). If Client accepts the Match, IJL will schedule the Date Introduction. Client may decline or pass on a Match for a Date Introduction and such action will not be counted as satisfying the number of Date Introductions that IJL has agreed to provide to Client. However, IJL is not obligated to present more than two (2) Matches in fulfilling Client’s one (1) Date Introduction membership at any time. After presenting two (2) Matches, any further Matches presented to Client will be considered to be a Date Introduction and will be counted as satisfying IJL’s obligations to the Client regardless of whether or not the Matches result in a Date Introduction with the suggested Match(es). Once one (1) Date Introduction and one (1) month (“Term Months”), whichever comes later, have been provided or have passed, IJL will be deemed to have fulfilled its obligations under the terms of this Agreement and this Agreement will expire. We wish the consumer the best in the future. Thank you.

Tell us why here...The consumer’s membership agreement does have the option to cancel within 3 business days. He joined It’s Just Lunch November [redacted] and proceeded with the membership until November [redacted] when he fell ill and requested to cancel, far beyond the window in which he would be eligible for cancellation. He did have 12 months of hold available under the terms of his agreement, however, he did not want to take advantage of that and his agreement has now expired.

I don't understand this company and why they are out to take peoples money. You are right I fell ill and based on that you still do not want to honor my cancellation. I asked to cancel. Not sure why that was so hard to do. Instead they are trying to prolong the situation by extending a membership which I have no interest in. On top of this nothing was really completed worth the 850 dollars because I got ill. How I'm I expected to pay for something that I didn't even get. I was supposed to go on a date but that never happened. Is this company is such bad standing financially that they refuse to give me a refund.

I reject this response because it has nothing to do with the reason I am disputing. They are talking about what they offer not what happened. I contacted them for a dating service. I never went on the dates because I wanted my refund. I emailed them 2 days after being charged for 850 for the complete service which was look at matches and being set up with a date. Which I did not go because I was in dispute with them over a refund. In other words. None of what they said they provided to place. One because I was in the hospital for a month and the other one because they were dodging my email from when I initially sent it to cancel the membership which they said lasted a year. KNow all the sudden they cancel my membership but did not issue my refund. They finally responded back to me after a few days saying sorry our offices are closed due to a hurricane. But did not respond back to me until a few days or a week after. Which means if they said I only have 3 days to cancel the account and get a refund it would not happen because they took longer than 3 days to respond back to me. I do not want to play games. I want my refund as stated. Playing with customers and keeping their money for a service not completed is not right. Also dragging time on with late email responses is also not right.

It's Just Lunch (IJL) is perplexed by the Consumer's complaint.  The Consumer's membership is fully serviced and is now expired.  The Consumer joined IJL on April **, 2014 under a membership that provided three (3) months or three (3) dates, whichever comes later.  The Consumer...

attended her first date on May *, 2014. In June 2014, the Consumer placed her membership on hold where she maintained it on hold until she returned her membership to active status in June 2015.  The Consumer attended her second date on June **, 2015 and her third date on August *, 2015.  Our records do not reflect any calls or emails that were sent to IJL after the Consumer's third date introduction.  If the Consumer reached out to IJL, we would have explained that her contract is fully discharged. We have enjoyed working with the Consumer and wish her all the best!

Review: Company promises before I signed up which were not true.3 month membership and have gone a month with no response from company and no service provided

On 2/**/14 I received a phone call and email from [redacted] from its just lunch trying to sell me their dating service. Upon speaking with [redacted] over the phone I told her that the only way I would sign up is if they matched me with women who live on Long Island, NY as that is where I live. Women who live in New York City or further I was not interested in meeting. [redacted] promised me that the Long Island only request would be guaranteed as that is what I am looking, as the dating service caters to what I am looking for. With that said, I signed up and before signing the contract, I sent an email to [redacted] asking to put in writing in her email that the Long Island guarantee was still true, which she did reply on 2/**/14 that it is still accurate I then signed up for the service paying $900. Shortly a couple weeks after I was told that I was being setup on potential dates with women who live in New York City. I Mentioned that I was promised Long Island only and I was told that they would never make that promise to someone, and they didnt have any matches for me on Long Island, I would have to meet women who live in the city or beyond. I called up and I was transferred to [redacted] on 3/**/14 voicing my unhappiness. [redacted] apologized and said that the company was wrong in promising me that, and in good faith to keep me as a customer and admitting wrong doing by Its Just lunch [redacted] refunded me $300 just as long as I continued with the service. I was told by [redacted] that she would make it right and if I showed faith in them and continued and she would do her best to match me with women on Long Island only. With the refund, [redacted] put me on the 3 month dating program which guaranteed 3 dates. I was matched for my first date with [redacted] on 4/**/14. Before I was matched with [redacted] I asked if she lived on Long Island, and Its just lunch refused to confirm that positively or negatively. Trusting its just lunch in good faith, I went on the date only to find out that [redacted] lives upstate NY over 2 hours away, and is only on Long Island for another month. This did not live up to their promise. The next step was being setup for a face to face interview with an its just lunch representative. I tried getting in contact with IJL for a few weeks and I received an email from [redacted] on 5/** scheduling my face to face interview for 5/** at 6:30pm with [redacted], please respond back to confirm. I did write back to confirm. I called IJL a few days before the meeting to make sure the appointment was still on, no emails or phone calls of mine were returned. I showed up at [redacted] on 5/** at 6:30pm and I waited until the library closed and [redacted] never showed up. No one ever called me or emailed or tried any form of contact with me to tell me that no one was coming. I received a call from [redacted] the next day asking me when I am available to setup a face to face meeting and I told him I already did and [redacted] never showed up. He didnt really seem to care that I was inconvenienced and just went ahead trying to schedule me a new appointment. Another week had went by before anyone got back in touch with me. On 5/** I began dealing with [redacted]. I had been a member since February and my membership is almost up and I have nothing to show for it aside from one date who was someone who did not live on Long Island. I asked for a refund or prorated refund and was denied. No dates have been offered to me since and it is bad business for not showing up for an appointment and going weeks with communication when I have a 3 month contract. I was lied to in order to sign me up, and once they took my money, they have been a bad business partner and have no interest in keeping me happy. All I ask is for my money back. I spoke to a [redacted] on 6/* voicing my displeasure. She admitted they haveDesired Settlement: I am seeking a refund of $600 since the company lied to me when they signed me up and has not been honest with me during my membership. I have been getting the run around for months and finally when the next step of the contract comes up when it is time for my face to face interview, the representative from its just lunch never shows up for our scheduled appointment. I did not spend my hard earned money on a service that is dishonest and has no communication or organization. Its just Lunch has

Response:

It’s Just Lunch regrets to learn of any dissatisfaction the consumer has had with his It’ Just Lunch membership as this is not the norm. The consumer is required to attend a personal interview with and IJL representative at a location of IJL’s choosing before any second or subsequent dates may be scheduled. The consumer has not attended this appointment and is contractually obligated to attend before It’s Just Lunch will be able to schedule further date introductions. We are working with the consumer to schedule this appointment and our ultimate goal is to get him dating, however, we cannot schedule anything additional until this appointment is completed. We have been in contact with the consumer to resolve his concerns and look forward to provide a positive dating experience. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Review: Its Just Lunch (IJL) offers a match-making dating service. The guarantee for a large sum of money they will set you up on at least 4 dates over 4 months. Before signing up and paying for the service I asked the sales rep to discuss the process with me and to ensure they had men that would be suitable. I was very cautious that they had a database of eligible men and men who fit what I was looking for. The sales rep spent hours on the phone with me discussing what I was looking for and reviewing profiles of men who would be potential matches. I signed up only on the premise of the men I was told about. The day after I signed up, a consultant called to set up my first date. Somehow none of the 10-15 men who I discussed with the sales agent were available. Instead I was set up on a date with a random person who I was told little about. I told the consultant I would wait until someone was available that suited the characteristics I was looking for. I was told to go on this date and so I did trusting the consultant. I went on the date and was shocked. He was nothing what I had spent hours on the phone describing what I was looking for nor was he anything like any of the profiles I was told about. After the date I asked the consultant why I was set up with him. She replied "he likes sports and travels". By "likes to travel" he had been on one trip in the past year. I was sold a service that does not exist. I was asked to pay a large amount of money for a service that is a fraud. I didn't expect necessarily to find a match but it would be nice to be set up with the types of people IJL claims they have. IJL promises men who they do not have access to in order to get you to buy their service.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund in the amount of either $1000 for the full service. I believe I signed a contract and sold a service under false pretenses.

Business

Response:

IJL apologizes and regrets the consumer has not had a good experience with her membership thus far, as this is not the norm with IJL. However, the consumer does need to attend her face to face appointment (IJL PERSONAL INTERVIEW) with an IJL representative in person at a location of IJL's choosing before any additional introductions can be presented. Once the Personal Interview is completed IJL will provide additional date introductions. Open and honest feedback is the most important part of the process as it helps us fine tune and learn the clients likes and dislikes.

We cannot guarantee chemistry, attraction or the consumer will like their dates but IJL has provided our contractual obligation which has been providing date introductions. IJL matches based on the general criteria and guidelines along with each dates feedback but are unable to control chemistry or attraction. IJL will only contact the card member when we have an available match. IJL does not guarantee satisfaction of either party on the date and our contractual obligation to the client is providing introductions. We use the feedback as a tool for their future matches, the better we get to know them, the better we can match them going forward.

We have been attempting to contact her to discuss her concerns and urge the consumer to contact the member of our management team back to discuss an amicable resolution. It's Just Lunch is able to provide the services under the terms of the membership agreement and a refund is not appropriate.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

During the sign-on process I made it very clear to the sales rep that I was very cautious of the types of people they had in the dating service that would be available to me. Therefore it was important to me to hear about the men the sales rep thought would be best fit for me to meet. The one and only reason I signed up and paid for the service was 100% based on the men available for me to meet with. If I had known the men reviewed with me were not available then I would have never signed up. Again the sole reason for me joining was based on the men presented to me during the sales process. We reviewed well over 10+ men and I understand people's schedules move around but I find it hard to believe that not one of those men would be available. If it is true that all 10+ men were unavailable then IJL should have been more forthright in who was in their service for me to meet.

[redacted] is no longer a client of It's Just Lunch. She received the funds pertaining to her membership back from her credit card provider.

Review: When I signed up for the services I was told I was an ideal candidate and there were many matches for me. My member adviser called me 1x to set me up on my first date. After the date I called to complain as the person they set me up with made me feel very uncomfortable on the date. From then on I had emailed my membership adviser several times and never heard back from here, no email or phone call. I was not set up on another date and after 1 month I called customer services, they were not helpful and in the 4 months I have been a member, I have been on 2 dates. The agreement I signed up for was 4 months and minimum of 4 dates, which they have not provided. When you call they give you the run around, they do not have quality people working there or as matches. As matchmakers they should know their clients and not need several months to set up matches. I was also lied to by a member adviser when I questioned the 1 match she presented about my file. They are not helpful and do not deliver on their contract.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of the money I spent on their services.

[Your Answer Here]

It took 3 months for them to set me up on a date, their customer service never gives a straight answer and they timing between dates in unacceptable based on the extensive lists of matches they claim to have. The date and match they sent me on was less than satisfactory. Based on my experience and discussing with other members their service is not holding them to their end of the contract. I feel this company is a fraud and takes people's money but does not perform.

Sincerely,

Review: I have been mislead and conned by this service from the start. After my initial conversation and was "sold" by a woman named [redacted], I was told I would hear from her and she would be my point person..I was passed onto someone else not as high up as her and never heard back from her again been though I have reached out via email and phone multiple times. I was then passed onto someone else as I expressed my un satisfaction in the service, then to another person, and another person, and another person.

I did some due diligence via internet and have found many complaints about how this company is a fraud, misleading, not truthful, and don't fulfill what they say they will. It is a complete scam and they refuse to give me my money back and just keep passing me onto individuals in different locations, but yet nothing to be rectified. Given it's a dating service and not a tangible product, I started asking my dates their experiences and they said the same thing. misled, scammed, won't give money back and all over the place.

it's a hustle and this should be acknowledged immediately.Desired Settlement: At this point, it's been months since I have been trying to resolve this and they basically refuse (saying based on contract) to give me my money back, but keep carrying on with the conning. I request and quite frankly demand a refund. Nothing that was promised was delivered. They also refuse to do such things via email so there is no paper trail.

Many thanks! **

This is not the case. It's just lunch has only given me ONE option and I had no choice. I have requested my money back multiple times and the simply say "we will not give you your money back". I have given them many chances and contract keeps being breached based on what was promised and what has been delivered. Each time I am reached out to by a different "person" working there with the same story. I have accepted those terms once before in good faith and nothing changed.

its a cyclical pattern. I ultimately do not wish to engage in their false services as it is a waste of my time with no result that was promised. Nothing has improved and I stick with my ultimate complaint. I want my money back.

At this time, I have not been contacted by It's Just Lunch! Inc. regarding complaint ID [redacted].

Sincerely,

They have not contacted me. At. All. They claimed to rectify the situation, yet the last date I was set up on that they were "trying" to "fix", was just as horrible and the others. I reached out about my dissatisfaction weeks ago and haven't heard a peep.

I want my money back!!

Review: I joined its just lunch in December of 2013 and immediatly put my membership on hold. I tried many times from December- March to contact [redacted] who wa smy dating rep without any return calls. Finally in March I placed a claim with [redacted] to get my money back and have been unsuccessful. I have also tried to talk to my represenatives from the company and have been continually lied to and told I would be contacted by someone who could help. I was even told by [redacted] on of there reps there was a loop hole since I never actaully started the membership and it has been on hold. He would pass me to someone who could help which has not happened I just keep getting passed around and no one can help me. I do not want to use a service who truely is not a service and only took my money and since has done nothing.Desired Settlement: I would like the 1,000 refunded to my [redacted] account

Business

Response:

It’s Just Lunch regrets to learn of any dissatisfaction the consumer has experienced with her membership thus far, however she has not utilized her membership to have an experience on the actual

service It’s Just Lunch provides. The consumer joined It's Just Lunch (IJL) on December **, 2013 under a membership that provides for four (4) months or four (4) dates, whichever comes later.

IJL immediately took action to schedule the consumer’s first introduction, however the consumer requested to place her membership on hold as she was unable to date immediately. Consumer’s

membership allows for 12 months of hold time until she is able to continue dating.

The consumer’s action to request hold status on her account acknowledges her continued use of her membership and her receipt and use of the services. Note, hold time is also part of the service that is provided to the consumer under her membership agreement. When a membership is placed on hold, IJL will not contact the consumer to present introductions due to a consumer’s request not to actively date during that period. IJL honored this request and provided the hold time service to the consumer. The consumer is currently on hold and a refund is not appropriate. She has filed a complaint with her Credit Card Company several times now and each time has been decided that the consumer has participated in the agreement and transaction and IJL is looking forward to providing a positive dating experience once the consumer returns to active status.

Review: First, I'd like to say that I don't know where the location of purchase was since everything was done over the phone. This company claims to offer personal matchmaking and charged me $1,000. My dating coach, who was supposed to follow up with me after my date on August [redacted], has cut off all communication with me. He never answers the phone or returns emails. I check their ratings online (I wish I'd done that first) and they have nothing but one-star ratings.Desired Settlement: Even if I can't get any of my money back, I want it on record that this company is more in the business of taking people's money than making matches.

It's Just Lunch (IJL) is perplexed by the Consumer's complaint. The Consumer's membership is fully serviced and is now expired. Sincerely,

Review: This past August I purchased a Private Search membership with It's Just Lunch. When purchasing the membership I was informed by an employee named [redacted] that I would be sent many profiles of eligible bachelors and that they would find men that would meet certain qualifications that I desire. [redacted] also stated that I could pass on as many bachelors as I wanted who were not suitable until I found someone who I thought was a good match. My membership was not to expire until I went on a date with someone who I thought was a good match. I was sent around 7 profiles over a span of 4 months. Many of the men did not have the same interests and passions as myself, which was supposed to have been matched up previously by the dating specialist. I clearly restated through multiple emails what I desired and the It's Just Lunch staff did not present people with the characteristics that I mentioned. Recently the [redacted] said that my membership expired and that my only option is to go on a date with a person who I feel is not compatible with me. When I stated to [redacted] that I was not compatible with him and I do not want to waste my time nor this man's time her response was to let her know when I am available to met him. It's Just Lunch misrepresented what they sold me. They guaranteed to find me a man that would share the same interests as me and they did not. I was never notified that there was a limit as to the amount of men that they would present to me. I was told that I could pass over as many profiles as I wanted until I found a man that was compatible. The terms of the agreement changed after they received payment and could not find a man compatible for me.Desired Settlement: I would like whole or partial refund of the $500 that It's Just Lunch charged me since they falsely advertised and did not deliver what they promised.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I do not wish to deal with It's Just Lunch due to their unprofessional manner. The statements from It's Just Lunch continue to vary. It's Just Lunch has stated that my membership expired and then will change to that they are continuing to look for a date for myself. They have repeated the previous two statements at least three times. The last date that they proposed to me they did not ask if I was open to meet the person, but rather simply stated let me know when you are free to meet him. It's Just Lunch has not maintained a solid professional stance. They also falsely advertised what they were selling and continue to fluctuate as to what my membership is with them. I have also continuously told them to contact me via mobile phone or email. I have continuously received phone calls and voice-mail messages on my home phone. I would like a full or partial refund in order to resolve this issue. It's Just Lunch has not maintained a professional relationship.
