Ivory Homes Ltd Reviews (66)

Dear Revdex.com:   Settling, under certain guidelines, is covered under the first year warranty only.  We did raise this concrete during the first year.    In December 2017 after the expiration of the first year warranty, out of discretionary customer care, we...

offered to have this concrete walkway section removed and replaced with the understanding Mr. [redacted] would participate in half of the repair cost. Mr. [redacted] accepted this offer but wanted to use his own contractor.  He was told that if he wanted to use his own contractor that we would not pay more than one half of what it would cost us to perform the work.    We received an email on March 19, 2018 giving us a quote to fix the concrete and asking us to still pay not only for the full cost of the repair, but also at a cost higher than we had committed. We were only given two days to respond before this complaint was filed on March 21, 2018 stating that we have not been responsive.   Our offer to have this concrete walkway replaced with the participation of Mr. [redacted] was out of discretionary customer care and not out of warranty obligation.  We are still willing to honor our offer of paying one half of what it would cost us to complete this repair. Sincerely, Liz W[redacted]Customer Care Manager

Revdex.com:Although this is redundant and I am confident Ivory homes will yet again not honor warranty commitments made, and will not fix damage they caused to my property in the post construction phase, I'm willing to give them one last chance.I'm available on Fridays between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
Sincerely,

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:Even though we have been working with Ivory Homes for over six months on this issue, they still have not recognized the full scope of the existing problem, let alone offered a reasonable resolution.  Following our complaint to the Ivory Homes warranty department that shower tiles were separating from the wall, a subcontractor was sent out to remove and replace the tile. During the removal process, wet moldy underlayment was revealed as well as a punctured shower pan.The contractor explained to me that he was only authorized by Ivory Homes to replace the tile and was not able to remove the wet moldy underlayment or shower pan without further instruction. The contractor offered to install new tile on the damaged underlayment and I refused this offer as this solution did not resolve the underlying issue, and would have resulted in further damage over time.Since this time, Ivory Homes has made no effort to determine where the shower construction has failed or to determine the extent of damage due to water and mold. We have learned that the tile underlayment was not installed according to Utah building code. Large gaps, improper orientation and the absence of a vapor barrier in parts of the shower have allowed moisture to penetrate into the underlayment causing it to warp, mold and push tile off the wall.Ivory Homes most recent offer following our complaint to the Revdex.com was the same $3,300 as before with the addition of a required covenant of confidentiality which would prevent us from speaking to anyone about our bad experience or inadequate settlement with Ivory Homes. While $3,300 is a sufficient amount to replace the tile, we have obtained bids from several contractors and it is not nearly enough to cover the removal and replacement of the improperly installed tile underlayment, punctured shower pan, and remediate any damage caused by water and mold.Unless Ivory Homes is willing to hire a reputable contractor to replace the tile and correct the underlying problems that caused them to bulge in the first place, or provide us with enough funds to hire the job out ourselves, we will refuse their offer and maintain our right to speak of this experience.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

I have reviewed the...

response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.   I have a number of warranty issues that need to be addressed and will continue to work with Ivory Homes to have each issue resolved.  Thank you.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: Although you have stated that you had looked over the house numerous times, no progress had been made toward fixing any of the issues I had. For example: Bowed walls and backsplash that had resulted from using studs that are not straight or lack of supervision of sub-contractors during the building process. Dining post not straight/crooked. Light switches stuck to the door trim.  These mistakes could have been prevented with proper supervision of your company. Instead we have been forced to close on the home without any resolution of these mistakes. According to your managers, these mistakes are passing according to Ivory's standards. Again as a consumer, these mistakes should not be acceptable and are visually disturbing. I am open to any suggestions on how we can get this issue resolved.
Sincerely,

Dear Revdex.com:Unfortunately, many of the statements made in this complaint are not accurate.  We have been responsive to the [redacted]’ concerns.I have been corresponding with [redacted] since January 17, 2017 regarding his concern with water intrusion into the...

basement.  This water intrusion is a result of a negative grade toward the home.  Maintaining a positive slope away from the home is a homeowner responsibility.   We have sealed cracks in the concrete to help alleviate this issue. The [redacted] have been advised to maintain the slope away from the home and to not let the sprinklers hit the home when watering to keep water away from the foundation. On February 9, 2017 [redacted] emailed stating he was getting a contractor to come and look at the interior concrete.  I emailed him back on February 10, 2017 asking if he would still like us to look at his concern as had been previously offered.  He responded indicating he would be in contact after having someone else review his concerns.   This is the last correspondence I have had with the [redacted] until this complaint. We are still willing to have individuals come and look at the [redacted]’s concerns.  Please let us know a few date and time options when they are available so we can assess their concerns.Sincerely, Liz W[redacted]Customer Care ManagerTell us why here...
