The claims made by the client in her statement are incorrectMost importantly, they ignore the fact that the client signed a written Initial Consultation Agreement which clearly and expressly states that "There are no refunds of Initial Consultation fees." Moreover, IvyWise clearly provided all of
the services set forth in the AgreementThis client was referred to us from a past client with whom we have a long-standing, excellent relationship having guided three of their children to their top choice collegesThey were apprised of our fees for this consultation in the referral and as with all potential clients, in the phone consultation with our enrollment teamFollowing this phone consultation the family signed the Initial Consultation Agreement in July, and paid the fee clearly set forth in the AgreementFurther, as indicated the Agreement that was executed clearly states that there are no refunds for the consultation feesThe client was, further, clearly advised what the consultation consists of, as it is described in the agreement, on our website and was explained by phoneWe clearly indicate that our counselors and research team prepare for this consultation based on the information provided by the client prior to the meetingThe importance of both the client and student questionnaires is made very clear to allow us to create custom research and the counselor to give the best informed advice within the consultationThe research our team generates includes opportunities for appropriate extracurricular activities, summer programs, reading lists and online courses all aligned to the interests indicated in the parent and student questionnairesThis requires a significant investment in time and effort on our part to identify and curate only selections tied to each student’s indicated interestsThe meeting took place in August 2016, but the client indicated shortly thereafter that they felt the research was not well-aligned as the input that their child provided was inaccurateTherefore, we immediately and without additional charge created an entire new set of research for this student based on their updated input as to her interestsThereafter, the client continued to engage with our enrollment team throughout the fall of indicating their interest to continue into some longer term program, including their request to meet with another counselor for possible ongoing workWe thus arranged a follow up meeting at no charge with another counselor and had many email exchanges regarding possible long term workAfter several months with no enrollment in an ongoing program, they requested some refund for the initial consultationHowever, as we explained each time both on the phone and by email, the fee for the consultation is expressly non-refundableIn fact, a substantial amount of time is invested by our expert counselors in providing an individualized analysis and report for a client in such initial consultationFurthermore, in this particular case, any dissatisfaction with our initial analysis and report was the result of their own incorrect indication of interests, which was in any event immediately remedie d following their provision of corrected informationThis client received every aspect of the services that we promised and for which they contractedWhile we very much regret that, unlike the thousands of students we have helped with their college admissions aspirations - with 92% of our students gaining admission to one or more of their top-three choice schools in 2016, this client was not fully satisfied with their experience, we cannot allow these misstatements to remain unchallenged
This is to inform you that we spoke with the complainant, *** *** ***, on May ** by phone and came to a resolution There were misunderstandings on the follow up after the meeting - the client was not aware revised materials had been sent, these were resent and we offered a 60% discount which client indicated she was very satisfied with by phone We sent a release by email immediately thereafter (on May **, 2017) such that this would resolve matter to client's satisfaction, however we have not yet received signed release back in order to issue the refund as offeredWe have followed up by email and phone in the week since then
