As owner of J&A Landscaping, LLC; I am writing today to refute the allegation submitted by the customer and to provide an explanation from my perspective of the events of August 9th In addition to my perspective, I have also included a
copy of the carbon copy receipt provided to
the customers' motherI have also included a letter my employee willingly wrote providing his recollection of the day's events
At 8:49am on August 9th 2017, an employee of MLA Landscaping, LLC and myself arrived at the customer's property to conduct landscaping and power washingI know the exact time because I texted her upon arrivingOn an earlier day, the customer and I met to discuss the work she wanted and a priceAfter reducing my price for a number of reason including her tight budget and the fact that she was a repeat customer, we agreed on price range of $***.XX-XXXcashWe came to a mutual understanding that the price would be no lower than *** but subject to an increase based upon the EXACT amount of work and time the customer would require of us on the day we conducted the work
After approximately an hour into working on the morning of the 9th, with my employee privy to the conversation; the customer and myself exchanged a dialogue pertaining to the work to be completed that day and the price that would be requiredThe homeowner agreed to pay *** cash for the following work: power wash all four sides of home, power wash back concrete patio (walking surface only), trim hedges in front of home, plant flowers in front planter provided by customer, pull weeds on East and West landscaping beds and pull weeds in the back yard along the customers chain link fence and landscaping bed on the south side of the patioThe customer agreed to pay the *** and proceeded to ask about how long it would take to completeI indicated that we should be finished by about 2pmShe indicated that she would rearrange her schedule and not go to her afternoon appointment because she wanted to be home to pay us when we finishedThe customer also, inquired about having additional work completed and I stated that doing so would cost extra moneyThe additional work she was requesting was to have us plant some bulbs she had on her side stepsCaution to pay more than *** the customer stated that we would see where we were after the initially agreed upon work was completed
During the course of the work, I left the property and returned several times to meet with other customers in the communityUpon returning to the job after my final meeting, I was shocked to hear of the events from my employeeHe proceed to tell me that the customer stopped him while power washing to complain about the way in which the work was being conductedAlthough,
we never agreed to use a detergent with the power washing, she was disgruntled that we were not doing soIn addition to her poor attitude, my employee told me the customer was attempting to have him do more work than was agreed uponThe addition power washing she was insisting on would have cost an additional *** asked my employee where the customer was and he stated something along the lines that with a poor attitude stated that she left the *** payment with her motherBefore she left, he had told her that I would be back in about minutes1-le said she replied back with an attitude that she would be at work in minutesHe told me that she stated the *** payment was with her mother and to ring the doorbell several times and waitDue to her mother's elderly age, it might take her a few minutes to come to the doorAfter hearing what transpired and shocked that the customer was no longer home to pay us herself I proceeded to call her at 2:13pmWith no reply, I texted her at 2:14pm asking "Are you able to call me?"
After completing the agreed upon work, we loaded up our tools and proceeded to knock on the side doorAfter approximately times ringing the door bell and waiting patiently, the customer's mother answered the doorShe invited us into her home and we stood in the entry way between the door and the kitchenShe asked us if we completed all the agreed upon work and we indicated that we hadShe asked how much the bill was and I replied that it was *** She counted out 5: *** billsLooking a bit confused, she indicated that her daughter had only left her with *** I asked her if she had the remaining *** to complete the *** owedIndicating that it was difficult for her to walk, she asked if we could come back tomorrow for the *** I stated that we would not be in the area tomorrowI asked her if she could please pay the remaining *** She replied that she would need a few minutes and if we
could wait then she would get the *** I stated that it would be no trouble to wait for herAfter about minutes she returned with the payment and asked for a receiptI told her I would be back in a moment with a receiptAfter giving her a copy, thanked her and we departed
Later in the evening I received a string of preposterous accusatorial text messages from the customerI took a moment to log into my Gmail account to copy and paste the text messages exchangedPlease find below a copy of the text messages exchanged between the customer and myself the evening of August 9th
