It is easy in today's world to research car repairs cost water pumps cann't be patched, I explained to customer it was a expensive job and that when water pump leaks on timing belt it would require replacement, I gave customer verbal price over the phone of $865.00, customer abruptly...
stop me and said I donot understand a word your saying, thinking I had to re-explain my self cause of description was techinal, it was shortened to water pump is leaking, at that time when asked how much again I said $865.00 which I was accused of mumbling only $65.00 .
When customer called back about car and was told tomorrow it was not clear which daughter was calling? At that time I explained tomorrow becasue there was alot of labor involved and car was apart, thinking she fully aware of bottom line price.
I make 50-100 phone calls for this company a day, nobody else has problem understaning my speech, accused of being on drugs or dunk and later having speech impedemite, I donot appreciate that.
Customer was calling in place of her father becasue he donot speak english, it brings to question her understanding, when I talked to her on Saturday I was just as shocked as her father when they came to pick up the car that there was question about job cost. I explained that parts alone were over $400.00 at that time phone call became aguementive that she was only paying what I original "quoted" what she heard. I then explained I would not release it for $65.00, at that time I was called stupid or something and put her father back on phone.
Later that week tues customer called back to say she was only paying $65.00 at which time I did talk it over with her and said bottom line she owed $865.00 to pick up car. I never took responsbility for saying $65.00 because that was not original conversation. In over 30 years in this profession, I seen alot I feel like I was scamed for water pump and timing belt for $65.00.
Whether their was a language barrier or not, if customer could not understand me at that time their of plenty of ways to check water pump and timing belt replacement cost, including asking to talk to Sirl's again, the estimate could have easily been access from any computer including secetary at that point she didnot have to talk to me. Attached is one particular site we recommaned. I conclude only resolution is paying for bill. No company can do a water pump and timing belt for $65.00.
