J B Decks

Review: Contractor had agreed to return to replace warped deck railing that was installed last year. Also, when the deck was installed he left construction debris collect on the dryspace panel covering my lower deck. Because of that, many of the panels back up with water during a rain and it does not drain properly. Calls to the contractor after the day he said he would show up to do the repairs were not returned.Desired Settlement: I want him to come back and replace the warped deck railing board as promised and clean the debris in the dryspace channels covering my lower level patio.

Review: The contractor neglected to get the proper building permits when building my deck. He told me he did. While he did get a township zoning permit, he build my deck without a BUILDING PERMIT from the county. Totally illegal. After the deck was completed and I paid Jake. A few months later, I got a visit from the county inspector and had to pay a fine because it was brought to my attention JB Decks never applied for a building permit. I also had to submit detailed drawing of the deck in order to receive the permit. All this should have been done by the deck compnay as promised and per the contract. J B Decks never returned my calls. I had to spend hours making detailed drafts of the deck dimensions to receive my building permit.Turn out the deck didn't pass inspection. The stairs they built were not attached to the deck via Hamilton County code. Also, the 2 deck staircases didn't have the proper concrete landing at the base. I also had to dig out 2 footers so the inspector could see the diameter and depth. This contractor is nowhere to be found, doesn't do what he promises, and most importantly ignored all state and county laws and built without a permit and made several code violations.Desired Settlement: I need J B Decks to come back fix the way the stairs are attached to the deck so that it meets code. I also need 2 concrete pads poured at the footer of the staircases (per code).

Review: Jake Brandyberry built a new deck for me in March 2011. On Sept. 8 2013 my son was walking up the stairs of the deck and the whole stair/step assembly fell to the ground. He fell approximately 6 feet and hurt his ankle and arm. Repeated attempts to contact Jake has failed. His phone just keeps giving a busy signal. I had another deck building contractor come out to as the situation and he informed me that the stairs were not built to code and that they should have been footed in the ground with concrete. Consequently some of the lumber was split when the assembly fell. To make the correct repairs will cost me approximately $600.00.Desired Settlement: Being that I haven't been able to contact Jake Brandyberry to make the needed repairs, I would like him to refund me the cost that I incurred to have this work done.
