Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2016/06/02) */
It is very easy to complaint for anything when the customer has no idea what involves to diagnose a problem in ; vehicle and to fix it. Customer is also saying that the damaged part was the pinion, I would like to know. how does he know that?...

The labor involved in removing and replacing the pinion is 6.4/hr. It is very easy to judge people and to make false testimony, when Mr. [redacted] brought his car to my shop, his complaint was that his car made a humming noise, I have video of him taking pictures of his new part ordered from the dealer to fix his vehicle, I also have video of removing the old one and installing the new carrier assembly on his vehicle. I admit that I painted the new part, I do that all the time, which is much easier to check vehicle for oil leak if vehicle comes back. I am also sending Copies of the Invoices from the dealer , if you check the dealers invoices and Mr. [redacted]'s you can see I lost money on ti is job but I honored the original price I had given him. I made a mistake by telling the customer I was going to fix the old part and sell it to make the profit I lost on this job, I agreed my bad. On April 291,2016 Mr. [redacted] brought his vehicle to my shop to check it, noise came from rear differential, customer said that his differential had been replaced before for a used one and he spent $1,700 at that time, true or false I don't know but that's what he said.. On this date I called the dealer and spoke to [redacted] at Gosh Toyota Dealer [redacted] and gave me a price of $700 and some for the carrier assy. Based on this price I told Mr. [redacted] that I would charge him a total of $1,450 to replace rear differential carrier assy. (Parts & Labor). We scheduled an appointment to fix his car on 5/6/2016 I asked him to give me a call before that day to confirm that he would bring his car and for me to order the part, on Wednesday 4th he called and confirmed to order the part, I called the dealer again and now [redacted] gives me a new price for the differential carrier he says my price is $1,197 he says he has given me the wrong price before he gave me a price for the (ring gear n pinion) I said go ahead and send the part because customer just called and authorized the job. [redacted] sold the part to me for $1,000. The labor included on Dismantling Differential, Inspect it and cleaning internal housing bleeding the brake system, and road test vehicle is about 4.8 hours. (to remove and Replace rear Differential is 3.1 hrs To Bleed hydraulic brake system is .8 hr/ to clean Internal housing is .9/hr and to road test is .4/hr) Honestly I don't understand the point on this complaint remove and replace sounds so simple like that but what actually is involved is more than that. Mr. [redacted] has the right to complaint and obviously he's assuming I overcharged. I know that I replaced his differential carrier and that I lost money on his job that is a fact. If he wants to come and get his old part he's more than welcome to do so. Let him know that he can bring his vehicle I can removed the paint so he can see the same dots he saw when he took the picture One more thing I would like to mention it might not even be related to the matter but when he dropped his vehicle to my shop, he asked me if I could give him another invoice besides the differential job invoice saying that the problem with his vehicle was the transmission and no the differential, so his wife wouldn't be mad at him, I denied it and said I couldn't do it. Let customer know that since he's not satisfied with the job performed he can come to the shop, I will return all his money, get my new part back and re-install his old part, he has until June 16th 2016 to do so.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2016/06/05) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
It might be easy to complain but it is hard to get money back from people who think they "deserve" it.
On Friday, April 29, 2016. [redacted] told me that the Ring and the Pinion of my differential were damaged and saig that price to fix it it would be $1400.00. On May 6, when the job is done, he comes up with a brand new differential carrier assembly and allows me to take pictures of it. He said that he installed it and painted it because oil is easy to spot. WHAT??? Oil is easier to spot on a metal car part painted shiny black than on a metal part in its original or factory color? I do not accept it. He indicates that he has the receipts of the brand new differential carry assembly from the dealer. When parts are returned the dealer does not take the receipts back, they let you keep it, no one will get another part from the dealer with that receipt since the order number has been canceled. So, having the receipt does not prove that he installed a brand new part. The part I took pictures of it had 2 red/pink dots and a green one and the one he installed has a yellow one.
He also mentions that has the video when he removes and installs the differential carrier assembly. I hope that video has a clock showing the time he started working on my car. I got to his shop a little after 10:00 AM and I left close to 10:30. [redacted] and 2 other employees were all busy working on other vehicles and I do not think they were waiting for me to leave in order to start working on my car. Obviously, they started after 1100 AM. I have a recorded phone message left by the secretary of this shop at 2:30 PM. All this matches with the time [redacted] worked on my car: 3 HOURS, not 6.4 hours, which I DO NOT ACCEPT.
All the bla, bla, bla, about the time he spent doing this and that is irrelevant. Removing and replacing the differential carrier assembly is 3 hours and that is exactly what he did and what he has to charge for. Period. I understand that doing the job is not plugging or unplugging a cord from the wall but that is why he spent 3 hours doing whatever is involved in completing the job.
This is also irrelevant but I told him I was going to tell my wife the vehicle had a transmission problem.
About the receipt me mentions on his response is because he told me that the Ring and Pinion of my differential were damaged and I asked him for a receipt containing a whole description of the job done since I thought he was going to reapair mine, which I think he did or installed a repaired one. The receipt, I told him, I was going to use it to take another shop to the Small Claims Court for not doing an honest job on my car. Actually , I am tired of dealing with dishonest people. He denied giving me that kind of receipt.
So, I insist, I was overcharged on parts and labor.

Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2016/06/13) */
Please tell customer to schedule an appointment to Install his old part & give him a full refund on his money. On or before the end of month of June/2016. Nothing else to say

Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 11, 2016/06/17) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I will never take my car to that shop again. I do not want to get parts replaced with the possibility of having damage on some other ones. I do not trust this shop. I was overcharged on parts by $205.00 + 16.40 (tax)= $221.40 as well as $184.33 on Labor for a total of $405.73. If J & C Transmission Shop gives me $400.00 back everything will stop there, otherwise I will to continue with a claim at Small Claims Court.
