I went to LineX of Greater Orlando to have them coat my truck and they damaged many components in the process but will not take responsibility for it.
I went to LineX of Greater Orlando to have them coat my truck's exterior in white LineX Extra, to match my manufactures paint code, also to LineX other parts of it in their premium black color.
I was told my estimate for the job would be $3,500-4,000. to complete. That included removing any parts needed to do the work (i.e. Bumpers, receiver hitch, moldings, trim, tool box, brush guard, spare tire mount, side steps, mirrors, bed caps, tire splash guards, wheel well guards, etc.). They asked for a down payment of $2,385. so they could order the supplies, which I paid on 1-21-14.
Before taking it in I removed more than 90% of the items to speed up the process and help to lessen the bill substantially, as the owner explained that any prep work I can do to it before hand would reduce the price. After I had a body shop fix some dents in the truck and install and paint a new hood and fender vents, I dropped of the truck and all the parts I had previously removed, to them about 2 weeks after down payment. The estimated time frame for completion was 2 weeks.
It took 6 weeks to get my truck back. In the time they had it they pulled trim off that we had prior discussed would be left on, so as I would not have fitment issues later on when reinstalling everything since the LineX product is Much thicker than paint. Then they coated those areas where the window and roof moldings go. They sprayed the truck's exterior with a very poor attention to detail too, leaving the surface extremely uneven in texture, with bubbles visible in some areas of the surface, and black dust particles stuck into the finish. (Their solution for that was to spray about 5 more coats of paint onto it) I came to inspect it after and was very displeased with the outcome, as it just had way more paint sprayed onto it leaving the texture underneath the same. (I had explained to them prior to servicing it that I have invested a Very large amount of my own time, money and work into this truck and that I am looking for attention to detail above all, as I want it to be a show quality truck. They said they understood and said they can do the project.)
So after the owner [redacted] and the painter [redacted] discussed what they could do to correct the situation they decided to mask it off again and re-texture spray it and paint it. I decided then that I would like some clear coating on top as well. [redacted] the owner explained that it would be an extra cost ($300), which I agreed to. The second time around on the LineX spray the body exterior was uniform and much much better looking. However in all the time they had my vehicle they almost never masked off anything properly, which is extremely important to have a quality paint job. They got white overspray paint inside my entire cab of the truck, including on my newly installed leather interior, floor, dash, and other various parts. They also got overspray on every single thing underneath my truck. It's lifted 6" with new and expensive quality parts that are very visible, I.e. a new performance driveshaft, stainless steel exhaust system, coils/shocks, and everything else like the axle, wires, hoses, tires and rims. It didn't stop there though. It's inside my engine bay too, all over the underside and front of my freshly painted hood, my motor, intake, fans, everything. It got on some exterior parts as well. The fender vents I just had painted/installed, the entire wiper cowl, every single window, even door moldings. I saw some of the overspray issues before picking up my truck, as I came up frequently to check up. I explained that they need to take care of it, and they said that they would.
Finally when I came to pick up my truck on 3-24-14 around 5pm just before they were closing, and nothing we had discussed was cleaned up, and my bill was $5,122.50 before tax. That's more than $1,100. over their highest initial estimate. The clear coat was the only additional charge I agreed to, which was $300. So somewhere along the line $800 had
