J D's Mini Storage Reviews (2)

Review: Our storage unit was broken into and JD's mini storage never contacted us BUT continued to cash our rent checks. When we did realize something happened (March 30, 2013) I called the owner and he said our unit had been broken into 2 months ago. I asked if he had called the police and he said no. In later discussions I asked him, again, why he had not called the police and he asked me what good would it have done? I did call the police and my insurance company to report the break in. So far we know we've lost a toaster and a blender (brand new wedding gifts).Desired Settlement: Returned rent for the previous months since the break in and the replacement of the blender and toaster.

Regards,

[redacted], I reviewed the letter that you sent me in regards to JD’s Mini Storage. I am NOT arguing what the lease states I am saying that the owners were negligent.

1. Duty: We pay rent for a unit as WE originally found it. Both parties must notify each other of a change in the unit being rented.

2. Breach: The unit was broken into (according to the owners 2 months ago when we talked to them on or around March 29, 2013). The owner’s put a new lock on the unit (what number did they call and why were they still cashing checks in January and February?) Therefore the unit changed. Further, the police were NEVER notified. A point JD’s Mini Storage has yet to argue.

3. Causation: Because of this breach we were notified late and we are now missing item that we reported to the police 2 months late. Further, we were paying rent for a facility that was compromised and we would have moved out earlier on. The fact that they did not cash the check in the attachment shows their concern for the situation and the negligence they had.

4. Damages: Because of the negligence described above we are now missing items of value Further, I want to point out that they state we are late on rent. I never received a bill for April and why would I be late on rent if they are not cashing my previous month’s rent? Why do I not owe on March? Does the Revdex.com not find this odd? At what point does JD’s Mini Storage address the fact that in January and February my rent was cashed yet they had knowledge of my unit being broken into?

[redacted], In the letter from JD’s Mini Storage they state they tried to call me. When we first learned of the break-in on or around March 29, 2013 they told us the same. I asked them which number they called and they didn’t know. What number did they call? Why are they able to claim they tried to contact me but could not yet they still cashed my rent checks for January and February 2013?

Dear Ms. [redacted],

As you requested I am writing to inform the bureau of the situation as we see it. We did not get a phone call from you concerning this problem because of a hospital stay in Spokane during the time you were trying to get in touch with us.

[redacted] did rent a storage unit from JD’s Mini Storage. We did find the unit without a lock, and we put one of our locks on the unit after we looked in and saw that it was full. We tried to call [redacted], but at that time he did not answer our call.

He sent us a check around March 20. We decided not to cash the check which was for the March payment. He left the unit around April 15 which means that he owed us for the month of April too. Also according to the lease that [redacted] signed under article listed as “Liabilities,” JD’s Mini Storage is not liable for theft.

Dear Ms. [redacted],

As requested by your second letter regarding the problem with [redacted] and JD’s Mini Storage, I am again writing.

We did not cash the check [redacted] sent for the rent of the unit for March because we could not get in touch with him concerning the break in of his unit. And since he was so angry, a bill for the April rent was not sent. It could be anticipated that he would not pay any rent.

A copy of the lease agreement and a copy of the uncashed check was sent to Revdex.com on April 23, 2013.

Sincerely,

Consumer

Regards,

[redacted], JD’s mini storage is going back-and-forth in their letters. Does the Revdex.com not see this? In the first response letter JD’s Mini Storage is saying I am late on the rent in April 2013. In the second letter they say they assumed I would not pay. How about this. Why doesn’t JD’s Mini Storage provide a receipt for when the specific lock that was put on my unit was bought? Then we will have an idea of when they knew of the break-in (although it may not be the exact date). AGAIN, JD’s Mini Storage told me at the time my wife and I discovered the break-in that the unit was broken into a couple of months before. Their story is changing and they have NOT provide proof otherwise. [redacted], does the Revdex.com not read the complaint letters? Do you see the change in story from one letter to the next? I would appreciate a response from you. Thank you. [redacted] ###-###-####F ###-###-####
