Hire J& J remodeling May 10, 2019, started May 25, 2019. He started June 01, 2019. He was hired to gut and remodel hole house. Include 3 bedrooms, kitchen bath, large living room laundry room and basement. I was under the understanding 1st proposal was hole house, come to find out only 1/2 house, kitchen side and one bedroom for 25,000.00. Install french door, encloses door and bathroom window. He included rough material, dry walling, rough plumbing 2x4's, insulation, labor, travel, material pickup debris removal ect. I(homeowner) had to pay for dumpsters get appliances, fixtures, flooring, cabinets, paint, ect. 2nd proposal was Additional contract 8000.00 to gut complete living room & 2 bedrooms all walls installation wall finish, primer, & paint all drywall & completed all finish work, flooring, doors, install extension & baseboard. Sum it all up. A COMPLETE RENOVATION of other-side of interior of home. He knew I wanted hole house remodel, was in the middle of final's at college. I didnt know this was only 1/2 a house. NOBODY in their right mind would give 25,000.00 for a half a house..... I'a a FEMALE VETERAN, I believe I have been scammed for more than the house is WORTH....
33,000.00 for a remodel job. He also told me he has PA 079664 licence and insurance. I would like to know if the licence is actually? And were I stand on getting this job done.. It was suppose to be done by August 30, 2019, Which, he agree it would be done by than. He had put ALL the work load on me, checking on cabinet which he was suppose to measure, he didn't, they are wrong!! I will to paid 15% restocking fee. Flooring was wrong, I had to pay 15% restock fee of 500.00, than order another flooring. Because Jason was going to charge additional 8,000.00 to 10,000.00 to put flooring down. I had to follow up on everything, change dates, go to Home Depot straighten supplies out, get handles, I'm so stressed out, had to have MRI & PT, med's for vertigo, fail summer course went from 82%-55%. STRESS OUT!

J & J Remodeling/Multi-Service Response • Oct 07, 2019

I wanted to start this response with a few facts regarding Mrs.. First things first *** and I a pervious good business relationship prior to this complaint. I did work for Mrs. in her home back in 2012 and during that time she was very pleased with the work I’m preformed and professionalism. Going into the project she wanted me to come out in bid this year I could already tell she was kind of all over about what she wanted done and how much work she bit off with the home. Which is why I had a brief conversation with her about me general contracting the job for an extra cost to take some of that work load off her plate. She declined which was fine. So she her self became the general contractor for the project. Which is a lot for anyone to handle especially some one not experienced in remodeling. That made her in charge of ordering materials, setting time lines, managing every contractor and hiring every contractor doing work on the home. So I could image she was stressed doing all that and going to school. But as my contract state I was only hired to remodel the main floor of a 1 level home with a unfinished basement. In response to the complaint she’s filed against myself and business I have attached a copy of my proposal (the original first signed and the secondary proposal mrs. signed as well) In the first proposal it clearly states that we were gutting only the kitchen, bathroom, and main bathrooms. The raining 2 bedrooms, living room, and powder room were only getting a partial renovation. A few weeks into the project *** expressed wanting to gut the remaining Half due to chance of moisture creating mold and wanted it re-insulated. At the time I told her that was not in original bid and would cost more due to it more labor and materials. She agreed to pay additional 8,000 for the half to be gutted to studs and new insulation/drywall bring a total of 33,000 for the whole house gutted and remodeled. Which is a very reasonable price for what she was asking. (Other contractor charge 33,000 just for a kitchen let alone an entire home). In response to cabinet complaint the contract states home owner will supply all finish materials which include the cabinets. Mrs. had 3 different floor plans from 3 different companies originally which were done before my start date 6/1/19 (which I have print out attached to my reply). In response to problems with estimated finish date not being on schedule. Going back to me not being the general contractor for this job I ran into many problems. As I started finish the mud on my drywall *** had two men come replace the main support beam for the home which caused cracks in my drywall mud. (Beam was not up to code which I tried to help her with) the kitchen support was completely eaten by termites which all had to be replaced. When I was ready for cabinets I called Home Dept. to get them they told me they were still being manufactured. When I was ready for plumbing she scheduled guys to get the water problems in basement fixed and they were putting a block wall up right were I needed to access plumbing. I even told her about the plumbing issue and she texted me And said can’t you do other jobs!! (Which I have pics and screen shot of texts from ***) In response to the restocking fee for flooring up signing proposal *** had a check list of materials she wanted in each room she wanted vinyl floating floor which is what I based my bid on. I go to get flooring and she picked out 8 by 4 tile to put down in the entire house. Tile and small tile to boot is wayyyy more labor intensive and more steps to lay it than floating floor. Which I had to tell her would be a lot more money for me to put down which she wasn’t happy about. (Have her check list attached to my reply) All In all I repeatedly to to help mrs. from getting ripped off by other contractors when things were done wrong and held up me from doing my part of the job. Any time she didn’t like something she demanded refunds for things that were not my fault or were not in the contract she sign and agreed on. I have/ had no problem finishing my job the one hired to do. Mrs. fired me over arguments she started and for reasons out of my control. As far as any money’s owed back I did my job up until I was fired and did it correctly . Work done to date was easily 25,000 worth of work.

First its Miss ***. The text about *** at doctors, work somewhere else: meant for Jason to work elsewhere in the house because there was Plenty of work, that was NOT completed! Why, what reason, if like he claims, he was only a contractor? What is the definition of a contractor in his eyes?? Why was Jason checking on other contractor jobs. He had his own jobs to WORRY about. As far a general contractor, that was Jason, he bid the Whole house remodel and gutting! First Line of proposal say "COMPLETE REMODEL AND GUTTING", which means WHOLE HOUSE, NOT half a house. Jason needs to UNDERSTAND he was the contractor. My job as the home owner was to buy flooring, cabinet, paint, countertop, fixtures. Which I did, I hired extra contractors to fulfill a job that wasn't being completed by Jason. It feel (in my opinion) the job was too big for Jason to handle. He told several contractors (this is NOT my prior job!). When I hired Jason the understanding was my job was to be prior!! He had agreed. Only to find out he was doing side jobs, instead of doing my House. He did tell me one small job, showed me pictures, I said fine. I DID NOT know that was continuous situation with other projects! My house was to be done at the end of August 2019, it was NO where near completion. Yes I Fired him August 2019. I was VERY DISSATISFIED with his work ethics and his continuous arguing with me. He failed to complete the proposal agreement to many times, which terms he had wrote and agreed too. Jason prior where every where else but my house. I feel, his ideas were completely different then mine, which causes of many disagreements, I feel I give him plenty of time to fulfill proposal. he had three months to complete. Time and time he kept coming back for more money, I had seen no improvements to warrant more money!
