J & J Towing Reviews (35)

On 3/21/J&J towing illegally towed my son's vehicle from the complex that he lives inTheir reason was that he was over the white line about 1/inchMy son's parking policy states that he cannot take up more than one parking spotThere was a car parked on either side of him and a motorcycle parked in front of his truckI called and talked to *** and *** at the tow company and notified them that I had reported my car stolen because it had come to our attention that they had been spotted stealing my car
They didn't have permission to remove my car and my truck wasn't in violation of my parking policyHe refused and he told my son that it would cost him to get the truck back when in the policy it states that the first fee is plus impound feeMy complaint is that my car was stolen and I'm being charged to get it back

Towing and booting practices are immoral and borderline illegalParked on a property but walked out to the sidewalk to decide where to dine on the property, when a J & J employee ran behind us and swiftly booted our car and demanded $on the spotWe were just at the sidewalk within plain view of our carThis is unacceptable behavior and borders on extortion, as we asked the person why he approached our car with a boot and he ignored our complaints and proceeded to swiftly boot our car to force us to payWe were planning on dining on that property all along

They are pathetic and don't have a concern for actually helping peopleThey are only worried about money and they will do anything to get itThey patrol near the UT campus and towed a friend's car that was in my parking space and still forced us to pay the full $fineThe car has been there for less than twenty minutes and let me say this againIt was in MY parking spaceWhen we called to ask about their policies they simply hung upI would never want to deal with these people if I got in a wreckFind another company

Review: JJ towing towed my car on june 26,2014. It is my second car. My prized possession-- a BRAND new, Mercedes Benz. I drive the car once a month just to put miles on it. It is literally spotless and showroom quality. When I received my car back, I noticed there are several scratches below the front bumper. I took the car to where I had it inspected and they confirmed that these scratches are consistent with a towing job. Furthermore, the man who inspected my car saw the pristine condition it was in and agreed those were not there when he had just inspected it. The car has less than 1500 miles on it. I cannot impress enough how perfect this car was, before it was towed. The morning of the tow, I noticed the damages and contacted the manager. He told me to email him pictures and he would call me back so we could work something out. Days pass, nothing. So I call, and I call and I call. I leave my callback number numerous times and nothing. I have called between 15-20 times in the last month and the manager is "never available". Yesterday was the final straw. Im tired of getting disrespected and given the run around. They need to fix what they broke. That is all that Im asking. Thank you for your time.Desired Settlement: I want them to fix the damages to my car's bumper, in a timely manner

Review: This company, specifically [redacted] (tow truck driver) and Hispanic male conspired to illegally tow my vehicle while I was in a state of emergency. My daughter's car had been broken into and we thought someone was following her. my husband and I sped to the scene after calling 911. we parked our car and began to assist her in filing a police report with APD present. I saw a tow truck pull up and my husband went to our car to grab some paperwork for the officers. while we were walking back, the driver hooked up our car and was gone in less than a minute. we contacted the police who said they could do nothing. we called driver's dispatched and explained the circumstances. driver refused to return our vehicle and we were forced to drive to their lot and pay $200 to get our vehicle back.Desired Settlement: I will not rest until this company is held accountable for their deplorable business practices that directly resulted in damages to our family. I want j and j to refund our money or prepare for litigation.

Review: I went to pick my car and the manager though it was funny that his driver had broken my wheel on my car, so I had to call the police out, because of the disregard of other people private property. They told the police they would take care of it, but soon after they left he walk away said to the of employees he was not going to fix nothing so go and file your [redacted] report. And I told I will and will wish you had not say anything to me. Top it of they broke my front end wheel, I had to have AAA to come and tow my car back home and it cost me to do that and I like for them to fix my car and I am calling my apartment on Monday and there way they come in towing people cars. So I can not use my car to get a round because they broke it.Desired Settlement: I want to fix my car, they broke it and now I have to get on the bus to get around and it cost money. And I want my money for them towing it wish is 193.00 and the police said that and take this court it I need. The police number to my case is [redacted] and the offer name is [redacted]. All I want is my car fixed.

I am rejecting this response because: [redacted] and the manager at Silver Springs was going to talk about give me a copy of there insurance card and I have not hear from them, and my insurance had been trying to call them as well. I feel that they can not get away from damaging people personal property and thing it's funny to where I shouldn't have to call the police. When they fix it and I will be very happy to resolve it then, until I get the car fix and no sooner.

Review: J & J Towing towed my vehicle from [redacted] - the **" apartments, when it was parked in a visitors space, whilst I was visiting a resident of that apartment complex.

My vehicle has to be towed on a flatbed or trailer with all four wheels off of the ground, due to the height of the parking garage J & J Towing would have had to drag it on a two wheel tow.

J & J Towing refused to give the name of the individual working for the apartment complex who authorized the tow, although this is required to be provided by Texas law.

J & J forced me to sign an admission of incorrect parking and sign off on a damage sheet without letting me see my vehicle before they would release the vehicle to me.Desired Settlement: Refund of towing fees, apology for forcing me to sign legal documents under duress, public apology for illegal practices.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: although administratively J & J Towing might appear to follow the letter of the law, and gives a legitimate business-like response in writing, when one actually contacts the business via phone or in person, vehicle owners see a very different face, and J&J Towing's practices in forcing signatures on release paperwork mean that there is no legal complaint possible since the paperwork shows that there is no damage, even though it had been signed without being allowed to see the vehicle.

Absolutely the worst towing company ever, the dispatcher had to send three different drivers to my location which is less than 5 miles from where they are because her drivers don't know how to find a customer when I gave them the address I have been broken down on the side of the road with my daughter for over 2 hours and all they can do is say they are sending a third truck

Review: Wrongfully TowedDesired Settlement: I want this rightfully resolved

Review: On May 29, 2014 at 9 pm my car was illegally towed at my apartment complex by J & J Towing Company. I have written proof from the apartment complex that towing would not be enforced until June 16th, 2014. I went to retrieve my car, with proof in hand, only to be turned down. They did not even want to see the proof. We were told the only way we were able to get our car back was to pay a fee of $193.30. We were then told they were unaware the new enforcement date and we would have to dispute the charges with our apartment complex. It is not our responsibility to keep up with the contract J & J company has with the apartment complex, it is J & J's responsibility. With that said, a few minutes before we talked to the representative, a gentleman from the same apartment complex was able to get his car out for FREE and it was towed for the same reason, according to him. I want to know why our proof was turned down and why we were treated with disrespect in the whole process. J & J towing needs to own up to their wrong doing and refund me my money back.Desired Settlement: A refund of $193.30

Review: My car was iigeally towed, I am a redsident at [redacted] apartments witha parking permit on my car. They towed my car for invalid parking permit is what I was told at first. I had to get the Police involved report # [redacted]. When my aprtments and APD called J&J they told them at first they did not have my car after talking on the phone with them for two hours and they stated they had my car. I had to drive all the way out to J&J to prove to them that I did have a permit on my car. This caused me to miss work because from 833a till about 215p I had no means of transportation. I have been living there since AUG and Ive never had a problem with my parking permit and where it was placed. I asked the to simply go out to the car and look at the permit they did not want to at all.Desired Settlement: montary compensation. Due to the fact that I had to miss 5hours and 45mins of work. THe person that towed my car also neeeds to be dealt with accordily.

Review: J & J Towing provide towing/impound services to properties and businesses in downtown Austin that must restrict their lots due to limited parking. On Thursday, June the 27th, I had stopped to eat at a fast-food restaurant in this high-demand area, specifically at [redacted]. I correctly and legally parked in the lot designated for the restaurant, and purchased and consumed some food there. The time was approximately 3:15 PM when I arrived. At approximately 3:45 PM, when I prepare to leave, I discover my car has been towed from the restaurant's lot. I consulted with the restaurant staff, and was informed that the aforementioned towing company had a contract to come by the lot at regular intervals, and remove any vehicles that were not accounted for by patrons of the restaurant. The troubling issue is that I hadn't left the restaurant the entire time. I had retired to the men's room for a few moments. The only logical explanation was that the tow driver checked the clientele for their vehicles while I was in the restroom, and despite the fact that, (according to restaurant and towing company staff) he is suppoed to check to be sure no one is in the restroom, he did not.

I had no recourse other than to take a $30 cab ride to the impound lot. While I waited for the cab to arrive, I observed J & J's drivers patrol the lot twice more, both times failing to verify whether or not anyone was in the restroom.

When I arrived at the impound lot, I explained the situation to the clerk, [redacted], and offered to have my credit card company prove that I was at the restaurant at the time of the tow, as I had paid for the food purchase with a card. He refused to cooperate, and was unwilling to acnowlege that this was an error on the part of the towing company. Furthermore, he refused to release my car to me without my paying the impound fee of $193.30, despite the fact that I could prove that they had to impound my car in the first place. I asked if there were procedures in place for filing for a refund. [redacted] informed me that there were not, and that if I believed that I was unjustly towed, I could take it up in civil court. This, I believe, is extortion, plain and simple.Desired Settlement: I would like to have a refund of the full amount of the impound fee ($193.30) plus the cost of the cab ride ($30.00) plus the cost of my time for having to deal with this unnecessary situation. (thus far, I have spent 2.5 hours of my time filing reports and otherwise addressing this unnecessary situation. My time is valuable, and I believe that $25/hr $62.50 is a fair compensation for such).

I would also like a formal apology in writing from the managment of J & J Towing for the poor training of their towing staff, and their lack of consideration for real-life accidents. The fact that theyhave no preparations in place for a potentially unautorized tow is unacceptable.

I am rejecting this response because:

This case, since the original complaint to the Revdex.com, has been taken to litigation, and therefore ready for closure by the Revdex.com. Currently, the litigation is still in progress, and a judgement has not been reached.

I do not accept the response provided by the business, however, the Revdex.com is no longer the appropriate medium to pursue recompense.

Review: My car was towed illegally from [redacted]'s Apartment complex, January 13, 2015.

I was visiting a resident at 12:20 p.m., no signs were posted that towing is enforced during that time for visitors.

The apartment manager told me that towing was enforced after 12:00 a.m for visitors.

Two residents came outside to tell me they saw my car towed by J & J Towing, 5 minutes after my arrival.

I called J & J Towing at 12:53, the dispatcher said they did not have my car, all tow drivers were at the yard, and no one had been dispatched to calls.

They also saw a female on the phone in the parking lot , who they recognized as calling to report cars to J & J towing. The residents say this person is a scout for the towing company.Desired Settlement: The amount of the towing charge$193.30 and the filing charge for smalls claims court, $41.00, and lost wages, $104.00.

Review: My wife got a flat tire on a cold rainy afternoon during rush hour on [redacted]. She called J & J Towing to come and fix the flat. When J & J Towing came the tow truck operator told my wife he could not get the lug nuts off that they were on the wheel too tight. He said she wold need to be towed to a tire place to get her tire fixed. He charged her $50.00 for a tow. The fact is that the tires are secured with a security lug nut, as all modern vehicles are. Her vehicle is a Lexus 350 SUV. My wife was upset and crying and took him at face value and got the tow to the tire repair station. What the tow truck driver shold have done was either ask her for the security lug adapter which is in the vehicle so he cold remove the one lug nut that was secured, and not tell he they were"on too tight and cant get them off". When I called the company they said "Yeah well if that's what he said that's what he said." I told him I was going to make a Revdex.com complaint and he said, "Good Luck with that." This company probably does this all the time. What tow truck driver does not know to ask for the security lug nut adapter. Not one does know this.Desired Settlement: They will refund the $50.00 two bill and train all tow truck drivers in their employ in how they should be responding to clients in these circumstances, and that they will not lie to clients to obtain unnecessary service.
