On 10-25-*** brought in his vehicle for confirming and proceeding with Thermostat change We were busy and started the repair the next day on 10-26-which was a Thursday Upon trying to remove the Thermostat bolt, the left bolt snappedLater we discovered this was because whoever had
previously replaced the Thermostat cross threaded the bolts There is no way for a mechanic to prevent a bolt from snapping on opening if it was installed improperly previously After the bolt snapped, I determined the most reliable repair would be to replace the Lower Intake manifold with one that has good threads, as the Thermostat housing bolts into the Lower Intake Manifold I called *** to inform him, and had started discussing the costs as a technician is not at fault if the bolt snaps on opening However Mr*** immediately started talking rudely, threatening to sue, etc I decided to rather then argue back and forth we would cover the costs of that repair which included the Thermostat, Lower Intake Manifold, all applicable gaskets and labor involved We purchased a used Lower Intake Manifold, as this is a metal part that does not wear out and does not need to be new We got the parts later Friday and could not complete the job that day Over the weekend we replaced the lower intake manifold, Lower intake manifold gaskets, Upper Intake Gaskets, Fuel Injector O rings, Throttle Body gaskets ,etc Essentially we replaced a bunch of parts at our own cost to ensure a reliable repair Everything was torqued to factory specifications We pressure tested the cooling system multiple times, no leaks or pressure drop meaning the lower intake manifold gasket had been properly replaced We test drove the vehicle several times and re-pressure tested no coolant leaks Mr*** picked up the vehicle on MondayHe came back same day to point out one of the emblem screw and AC charge cap was missing At this time he stated the vehicle is running good so far We had noticed a small crack in the egr tube, we used appropriate sealing material and exhaust tape which was an adequate repair based on the size of the crack Mr*** has probably purposely sabotaged the repair and pulled of the exhaust tape and made the crack biggerMr*** came back on Tuesday again extremely rude, cussing, threatening, We again replaced the EGR tube at our own cost We test drove the vehicle again and let it idle inside the shop for minNo coolant or fluid leak observed Mr*** picked up the vehicle Mr*** returned on Saturday November 4th stating he went on a road trip and noticed some coolant dripping In the complaint Mr*** is switching back and forth between oil and coolant leak I took a quick look at the vehicle as we were extremely busy and noticed and informed Mr*** I did not see any leaks and also the coolant reservoir was full to the exact level we had filled it to on Monday Advised Mr*** if he would like I could perform another pressure test but vehicle needs to cool down and I don't have time today or room to store the vehicle over the weekend and to come back on Monday, Mr*** got extremely rude, started cussing, threateningStated you need to F'in make room etc That if his engine went out, we owe him a new vehicle, etc Mr*** started launching himself at me when I tried explaining to him I did not see any leaks and that the repairs we performed would not cause oil pressure issues He had to be calmed down by his father Mr*** is trying to blame anything and everything wrong with his vehicle on usHe claims nothing was wrong with his vehicle priorAfter Mr*** started getting extremely rude and volatile, I told him all our repairs we performed were done properly, we have documentation and invoices and he can get the Burea of Automotive Repair involved so they can see we are not responsible The repairs we performed, lower intake manifold, gaskets, thermostat would not cause oil to drip on the floor A vehicle of model year and 145,xxx miles is going to have some fluid leaks and mechanical problemsMr*** is attempting to take advantage of the situation with accusations, threats, and intimidation and get his whole vehicle repaired for free I believe at this point the Burea of Automotive Repair should get involved as they will be able to better understand the situation It is important to note on Mr***s original Lower intake manifold there are signs of oil sludge indicating vehicle was not always properly maintained, extended time periods between oil changes, etc Mr*** had also mentioned to us that he had added oil to the car prior to bringing it in to us for repairs indicating the engine already had an issue with oil leak or burning oil

I am rejecting this response because:They provided information in their responseThey never once told me about replacing the lower intake manifold till after they bought one. They never once called me to get authorization for additional repairsThey called after the fact. Never once did they tell me about patching the egr tube. And to say I sabotaged my own vehicle is asinine and absurd. I believe they broke the egr tube and attempted to patch it up to hide their mistake. I hadn't 3even driven it miles when their faulty cover up failedAs for the water leak, I have attached pics. You can not find or see that there is a problem or the vehicle is not running right without driving it. I found the water drip/leak while out of townThey FAILED to properly Tighten a clamp on one of my water hoses, pics are attachedThe BAR has alr4ady been contacted and I am now requesting a refund of the money they charged me. I also requested the parts the replaced which by LAW I have the right to, and they refused to let me take and or have the old partsI also have an appointment to take my truck into a competent repair shop to ensure they did repairs properly and what if any damage they caused and repairs they did improperlyAs it is now apparent they are not competent enough to work on my vehicle

Once again we have informed the delivery company to not deliver to this address. The complainant was copied on instructions to delivery company owner.

I have forwarded the complaint (minus complainant's name, phone number and email) to the third-party delivery company we use, [redacted], and told them to be sure complainant's address is on their Do Not Deliver list and requested that they make every effort to not deliver to that address. I have...

I am rejecting this response because:I am rejecting this response because: Like they said they bought the parts PRIOR to contacting me.  They never once called or got authorization from me.  As you can see the estimate I signed was for a THERMOSTAT, gasket, and coolant. The only times I heard from them was when I called to see if the truck was done, they said they hadn't gotten to it yet, they'd have to get to it tomorrow. Then I called them the next day.   Alk I got was that they ran into a complication and it wouldn't be done that day.  Then when they called me on Friday morning saying they found the part they needed at a dismantler and wanted to charge me additional money.  Because THEY broke . Bolt off and HAD to replace my lower manifold.  They didn't even put that on the final invoice.  Hmmm, I wonder why??? At that point I told them I was NOT paying anything over the original quote.  They broke it, they fkedd it up, they were gonna fix it, and it better be done right. They also REFUSED to allow me to take the old one. Which by the way is illegal. They have screwed my truck up. I want it fixed, but not by them. They screwed it up enough already.  I also want my money back.  They are incompetent and have no idea what they are doing.

I have attached the work orders related to this repair. All the parts invoices are available for the Bureau of Automotive Repair to view.We have not been contacted by the Bureau of Automotive Repair regarding this yet. I still stand by my statements and am waiting for the Bureau to contact me regarding this matter. We bought the parts ahead of time but did not start any of the repairs until after contacting Mr. [redacted] and explaining to him what needs to be done and getting his authorization. Mr. [redacted] told us he needs the car fast and to do whatever we have to get the vehicle repaired and running at our cost. Just because we had purchased the parts prior to contacting him at our cost does not mean we were in the wrong since we could have easily returned the parts if he had refused for us to perform the repairs. Thanks,[redacted]
