Upon returning from vacation, my family arrived to pick up our dogs up from Misty Ridge Animal Resort around 10:00am on Sunday, July 26, After paying $via personal check and handing over leashes, my husband, children, and I were told to wait outside and the dogs would be brought around After waiting for what seemed an extended amount of time, my children and I returned to the office It was at this time I found the male employee who had taken the leashes standing with a seated receptionist Makayla and they informed me the dogs had stepped in urine and their feet were being cleaned before they were returned to us During this exchange I saw one dog handed off to my husband outside I questioned their being soiled with urine to the point of needing a bath and expressed my concern as a customer that it was a bit suspect the dogs were clean for the days they were boarded but just now, at the time of pick-up, soiled I also made known that these pets do not typically make such messes inside and that on the rare occasion they do, I have never known them to sit/stand in urine/vomit/feces Makayla retrieved someone else (Megan?) who told me a similar story as more time passed I asked that they bring me my second dog immediately He was brought to me shortly, wet and his blonde hair stained brown Tearful, I left with my family and pets I called the kennel a short time later and expressed my concerns for my pets care while they were at Misty Ridge and asked to speak to someone in charge Makayla first gave the phone to Cory, who then said he would call the owner, but gave the phone to Kristen, who returned me to Makayla, who then told me I could email the owner All seemed defensive, none interested in what concerned me
I made no accusation that they were lying, only that if this was the truth, that my dogs were clean all week and only now soiled sounded a bit far-fetchedCory told me the runs are cleaned with bleach this morning, but offered to explanation as to why my dogs were soiled if this had taken place Megan or Kristen told me it was not uncommon for small dogs to be nervous and have accidents, yet again, no one acknowledged my concern as to if this was a one-time occurrence as it was presented, or if it had happened all week I tried to convey that I had had good boarding experience prior and trusted the kennel, but that they all said something a bit different, and that my dogs weren't clean on the day the reservation ended, was concerning Our perception was that when we were sent outside to wait, but the dogs were bathed and no one came to tell us it was not disclosed to us on purpose We feel at that point they should have let us know the condition our pets were in, then offered a complimentary bath I explained I would have appreciated the opportunity to validate their claims that the dogs had urine on their feet and have been offered the opportunity to see the run that, according to claims, was clean except for said urine I find it hard to believe the dogs needed head-to-toe baths for a single puddle of urine, and am concerned that the run they were kept in was not well attended and they were soiled with any/all types of excrement that wasn't addressed until we picked up; that the staff would've been embarrassed for us to see the condition of our pets, so they robbed us the opportunity to see (validate claims) and washed them unbeknownst to us, while we were kept waiting outside After expressing all of this to the staff on the phone, their interest remained in telling me how three of them are pre-veterinary students and defending the claim that it was just urine that had just happened- no apology or explanation otherwise
