We had a call from this customer years after we installed her fireplace saying it wasn't drafting very good After waiting years she wanted a response asap so we sent a crew down to
Indian to check it out and they found the outside air kit was blocked and the unit wasn't getting any outside air We removed the blockage and found out later it still wasn't working so we recommended extending her chimney system which may or may not help with the draft ( The fireplace is installed according to all codes RSF makes recommendations on pipe length but we felt with the placement of the unit what we installed would provide a good draft) We don't add pipe to job unless we feel it is needed it is just an added cost and being how we didn't here form the customer for years figured it was working fine Once we know she still had a problem we offered to extend the chimney and add a roof support at cost with no labor Another trip to Indian with the materials to be sent away from her property, she made it very clear to the crew they were not welcome on her property Since she has run our company into the ground with RSF and Northeat with several e-mails In our estimate I include an outside air kit if she was thinking she had ordered a specific one that is not shown any place This is the same system we always use on this fireplace At his point we are not willing to send another crew down to Indian not knowing if they can even do the work We tried to help her and she didn't want it nothing makes me think she does now Just looking for free labor maybe There is nothing wrong with the way the fireplace is installed and there is no way to say for sure that extend her pipe one section will make the draft what she is expecting In a nut shell we will not be doing any more business with this home owner

First, I would like to thank NortHeat’s manager, Jay, for coming and installing the additional 4’ – 7” ICC Model EXCEL chimney after reviewing the Owner’s Manual with me. (see attached)  He waited until a fire was started and was drafting as it should – perfectly! After 24 hours I can say with certainty that the drafting problem with my RSF Woodstove is resolved. 
If ‘RSF’ won’t certify one of their fireplaces without the recommended 7” ICC Model EXCEL chimney and provides a Table for precise recommended flue heights. I still believe a home owner should rely on an installer to do the job as required.. even if they think they know better and/or to presumably save a homeowner money – ‘in the short term’.
TheChimney Doctor refers to blockage removal - referring to the ‘CAP’ of the dryer vent which was not removed at installation. This company used dryer parts instead of the recommended RSF - Outside Air Kit and “insulated” ducting (as shown on Invoice #10918) I would like my $85.00 refunded for being misled and duped.  In the spring I will have the ducting inspected to confirm that it is insulated. (see attached)
A customer should not be accused of “just looking for free labor, maybe”. What I believe is they made mistakes, got caught and did not take responsibility. Their showing up without a confirmed appointment was unacceptable so I asked them to come back at a mutually confirmed time.   If it’s true that RSF and NortHeat think they have been run into the ground I guess the reason is their business practices and conduct.  I purchased this replacement stove after a chimney fire!  I needed to feel I would be safe.
