On Monday November 30th I called j and k postal works to schedule a time for them to come out and change the lock on our mail box (we had just moved in and the previous owners did not have a key to give us ) I left a voice mail for them to call me back at. A few hours later I still hadn't heard from them so I called again. This time a lady answered the phone. I explained what I needed, she huffed at me took down my information. And then said sharply that a driver would be here on Thursdays with the keys, and I needed to pay him $50 when he came. I asked " fifty or fifteen " (because over the phone it sounds the same) she groaned "5-0 can you afford that?" I replied "yes that's fine, he takes card right?" She said yup and then hung up.
Thursday morning (9:15am) the driver came to the door with the keys. Told me it would be $50 I said "ok cool let me go grab my card" he said " NO it needs to be in cash or check, she didn't tell you that did she?" I told him no and that I even asked her if they took card I told him how she said yup and quickly hung up. He was not happy about the whole situation. He did applogize to me and told me he wasn't mad at me but he was irritated with the lady who answers the phones. He told me he can't even count the amount of times this has happened to him, and he kept repeating "this has to stop, this has to change" . He said he would come back on Monday around the same time to collect the money and give me the keys. (While I was totally bummed about I understood why he could not give me the keys)
It is now the following Monday. At 11 am I decide to call the office to see if the guy is still coming.
When the lady answered the phone I told her what had happened how I didn't have the correct payment when he came on Thursday and that he said he would be by monday before afternoon. She replied "it's not the afternoon yet is it? " (at this point now I'm mad, my day starts at 5 when the baby gets up, I've now been up for 6 hours and I consider that to be mthe afternoon. And her tone was do condisending that I can no longer keep my cool) I replied "let me be more clear he said he would be here the same time he was on Thursday which was 9am and now it's 11. I just want to make sure he is coming." Her reply was yet again snappy "she said yes ma'am but like I said it's not noon yet! is it?" I hung up on her in order to keep myself from blowing up
The driver finally came back at 11:50 I gave him the money he gave me the keys. I asked him real quick if the lady who answers the phones is an owner or a supervisor or something. He said she was the owners daughter. And he asked me why I was asking. I told him about her comment on teaching me how time works. He tried very hard to bite his tounge and keep his reply professional. And just said "yeah I'm sorry she's the owners daughter"
