I am very disappointed in my experience with Don Wessel Honda. I purchased a 2012 Honda Odyssey 3 weeks ago. I was looking at theirs and one other almost very same van at a neighboring competitor. Don Wessels was more expensive, but the sales guy sold me on his pitch that I was not just buying the van, I was buying the dealership as well. He said that they do very thorough inspections of all their vehicles to make sure there is nothing wrong right out the gate, in which the competitor did not do. He said I would not have the worry of something popping up immediately upon purchasing. Less than 2 weeks after purchasing the van, I found the sunroof leaks a steady stream when in the carwash. Found out when daughter in front passenger seat felt alittle bit of water hit her. I took it in to have looked at and they said there was no leak found at all. They even said they never get complaints of sunroof leaks. That Honda has good seals in their sunroofs. I went directly to carwash and videotaped the leak and went back and showed them. Now they said that this leak is "normal". That sunroofs are impossible to make leak proof. That there is a drain to catch the leak to keep it from going into the ceiling. While there is a drain to catch it, I dont believe this is "normal". I have always had sunroofs and have never had one leak. I dont feel like I got the dealership that was sold to me. Very disappointed.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2014/08/28) */
Approximately Monday August 18, 2014 Don Wessel Honda received a letter from [redacted] and [redacted]. In this letter the [redacted]'s described a concern they were having with the oil change prices on their vehicle. [redacted] conducted the...

background research in an attempt to clarify their concerns. On August 21, 2014 Mr. [redacted] contacted [redacted] at XXX-XXX-XXXX. A lengthy conversation followed. At the close of that conversation, Mr. [redacted] asked Mrs. [redacted] to review the paperwork on the purchase of their 1996 Honda Accord in 1996 and if that paperwork had a detailed agreement concerning the oil changes and a price for those oil changes on their Accord, Don Wessel Honda would be happy to honor that agreement. The only request Mr. [redacted] made was that since the purchase of the vehicle was 18 years ago, if the [redacted] would bring a copy of that agreement when they arrived at our dealership for service to be performed. Mrs. [redacted] said she would look through the paperwork in her safe.
Approximately 5 minutes following the first phone call, Mrs. [redacted] called back to Don Wessel Honda stated that she had reviewed her paperwork and found the document describing their oil changes. Then her son [redacted] came on the telephone and read that document to Mr. [redacted]. Mr. [redacted] read the document and Mr. [redacted] agreed to the terms of the document. Mr. [redacted] again asked that Mr. [redacted] bring that document or a copy of that document to the dealership when he brings the vehicle to our dealership for service. Mr. [redacted] replied "No, I don't need to do that you should have those records". Mr. [redacted] explained to Mr. [redacted] that in the 18 years since he purchased the vehicle, employees have changed and 18 year old policies that may not have been used in several years may not be known to some of the newer employees. Mr. [redacted] then stated "they should know and this is just a bait and switch". Mr. [redacted] repeated that Don Wessel Honda honors all written contracts and that the dealership would also reimburse the [redacted] for the price difference on 2 oil changes completed on August 13, 2013 and August 6, 2014 to the 1996 Accord to continue to honor that agreement. Mr. [redacted] then stated "I don't want your money, I would burn it in your face if you gave it to me".

Don Wessel Honda has offered to honor the written agreement on the 1996 Honda Accord with the [redacted] family. Don Wessel Honda has also offered to reimburse the [redacted] for any difference in charges that may have been charged to them in error due to the time since the initial transaction in 1996. The only request made by Don Wessel Honda was that the [redacted]'s present a copy of the agreement when they arrive at the dealership for service. [redacted] specifically seem to reject that single condition then contacted the Revdex.com with a request that Don Wessel Honda honor it's written agreements as his desired resolution. The offer to honor the agreement was already made to Mr. [redacted] on August 21, 2014.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2014/09/05) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Response back from Honda was not accurate. I have not rejected their agreement to honor their word after they discovered I do have it in writing. Also we did not say we won't show them the document that they gave us specifying the oil changes, we said we will not put it back in the glove box, now as he suggested, we told him we would bring it and show it to him, and give them a copy of it. We do feel they should have records and should know what they offer, and honor that without a hassle. When Mr [redacted] realized we had the proof in writing from them, he said what could they do, I said honor it for us and for the others it was promised to, he actually said he would for us and for them. And as far as the comment re burning the money, I did not ever say "in his face" I did say I would burn it (not the best choice of wording to get his attention) if he tried to give it to me, as a figure of speech, only because he kept saying they would pay me for the 2 past bills, which it would be more than that anyway, I wanted him to realize my point that it's not about trying to get money, it's about Don Wessel Honda honoring everyone involved. We are truly sick and tired of companies using the economy for an excuse to not uphold their word, to breech contracts and to handle customers. Also to their comment on the fact that the car is a 1996 and it's been 18 years, how long it's been is irrelevant because some of the service people are still there, [redacted] Wessel is now the president and was the general manager at the time, surely he remembers, because his signature is on the page of the book by that agreement. How long it's been should not be an issue. So many different stories, first they say, oil is going too high (and agreement states we only pay for FILTER AND LABOR ONLY, oil price wouldn't matter), then per Mr [redacted], they never said they would do that, then per Mr [redacted] the salesman was offering things the dealership did not, then the economy is the reason they can't offer it anymore, then bring it in writing, that they never put it in writing...we have had the run around let's see the service. And not just to us to everyone who was promised it. We also were able to get into contact with the original sales person [redacted] he remembered it also, why did Mr [redacted] say they had no records and he could not find anything on it, when he could have just ask some people who were there at the time, just a little effort. We have discussed and pursued this for quite some time. The same type of issue has already been filed with the Revdex.com by others. Further proving we are not the only customers with this concern. When Mr [redacted] said they did not put in writing and then challenged us to find in writing we felt determined to find it. So I decided to even look in our glove box again and read every single document given to us at the time vehicle was purchased and did indeed find it, we were elated! The reason we filed complaints with the Revdex.com and the Attorney General is because we were advised to do so by one of our attorneys who felt it would be important for others, as well as ourselves to have that involvement, so authority can take notice and so others can be aware. Don Wessel Honda can see from our records that this was definitely offered to clients. It's important to us that EVERYONE who is entitled gets satisfaction and is made aware the company will honor their promise.

Final Business Response /* (4000, 12, 2014/09/09) */
Mr. [redacted]'s desired resolution with the Revdex.com is " Want the company to start honoring what they offer no more bait and switch for every customers".
The offer to honor the written agreement was already made to Mr. [redacted] on August 21, 2014. The desired resolution Mr. [redacted] is seeking has already been satisfied. There is no bait and switch as Mr. [redacted] has stated. Don Wessel Honda does honor agreements made with it's clients. Due to the age of the agreement, the only request made was that Mr. [redacted] present the document when he brings the vehicle in for oil changes so our staff knows how to process the paperwork.

In January of 2014 I received my car from having it shipped from Hawaii. Before leaving Hawaii, I had a check engine light come on and was forced to get it checked prior to shipping. It was a O2 sensor. So when I picked it up in January from the shipper, I called Don Wessell Honda in Springfield, MO o make an appointment. The man in the service department who answered told me that I didn’t know what I was talking about and that he was going to have to “diagnose” it himself and he would have to charge me [redacted]

After having to put up with their sexist rude men in the service department, I had to return because of the air bag recall. when the news came out I went to the Honda website and put in my VIN. It stated that my vehicle was one of the recalled. So when I called, Oct 20, 2014, I was greeted with the biggest chauvinist I have ever met. I was told that there was absolutely NO way to tell if my vehicle was one the ones that was recalled. After I explained about the Honda website and the VIN, he told me I was stupid and I didn’t know what I was talking about.

So Thursday, October 23, 2014, I made an appointment through the website. Now mind you, I registered with my vehicle’s VIN. I made an appointment on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 1300. Now I live in Waynesville, 90 miles to the east of Springfield. I had to put in for the afternoon off. So when I get to Don Wessel Honda, I get treated like I am stupid because I am a woman. [redacted], proceeds to check me in and then tell me, Oh but we have to order the parts by the VIN and we didn’t have your VIN. I then explained to him that I am registered with the website with my VIN. He says that he then has to “check” to see if the part was ordered. I was then taken to the mall. About a half hour later, I receive a call, telling me that the parts are “back-ordered”. I tell him I want to speak to a manager. The manager comes on the phone and becomes rude and defends his incompetent service department. I told him that I did not appreciate my time being wasted. He proceeds to tell me , “oh its not a waste, we can still change your oil.” The only reason I scheduled an oil change and tire rotation was because I have no other choice but to bring my car in for the recall. and I could have had the oil change done for cheaper and without wasting 4 hours of my time and a half a tank of gas. He offered NO apologies and said he has the best service department. He is delusional.
