J-M Tire & Service Reviews (%countItem)

Monday May 27th I took my truck into J-M tire in Radville to get a hole patched on my back tire passenger side, the hole was patched the following day (Tuesday may 28th) and they told me no issues so I paid and away I went. On Wednesday May 29th, my husband had noticed 2 chrome caps that go on the lug nuts were missing. I went to J-M tire to see if they just missed putting them back on, when I had talked to the owner he didn't have an answer for me as to why they didn't get put back on, as soon as he seen my truck, he told me they had broke them and refused to replace them, looking further we noticed my lug nuts them selves are stripped to nothing and we can no longer get them off at all. So because the lug nuts are stripped the chrome caps themselves won't go on. I went back to J-M tire to notify the owner and his repose was he didn't have the proper tools and this happens all the time with my kind of truck (***). Mean while I have been driving this truck not knowing that anything was wrong with it because they failed to notify me that they broke parts. I am now stuck buying 5 new lug nuts, 5 new caps and a new hub cap because of the damage done to them by J-M tire and they do not want to hold any responsibility for the damage they have done. Not to mention the danger it put me in driving the truck with the lug nuts not properly put on, this could have all been avoided if they would have told me when I picked up my truck that they broke it, or even further, that they did not have the proper tools to fix my tire in the first place.

Desired Outcome

Refund I would like to be refunded for the purchase of 5 new lug nuts, 5 new caps and the hub cap that I have had to replace as well as the bill I will receive for another company to replace it. I did not order the lug nuts, caps and hub cap from J-M Tire

A good majority of companies use the "pressed on, shiny aluminum cap (for cosmetic appearances) over a steel lug nut". These caps are notorious for swelling, as when you mix two different types of metal together, they will repel each other over time and swell, making it very difficult to remove from the tire. There are many articles and information on the internet in regard to swollen lug nuts.

All vehicles leaving the shop are torqued to factory specifications; therefore not putting any customers in danger.

In good faith, I offered to replace all 5 of the lug nuts for her -- not just the two. I am not sure what the reasoning would be to replace the hub cab. Anyway, there is a misunderstanding here and I would welcome the opportunity to discuss this with her further.
