Review: Transmission repair problem

About 4 months ago I went to this transmission shop to replace a transmission on my daughters 2006 Toyota Corolla, [redacted] guaranteed me that he could get a great used transmission and he would thoroughly check it out before he installed it. After I picked it up and drove it about 90 miles the check engine light came on, I ran the code and it was a transmission error. I called [redacted] and he immediately said it was a used transmission and these things could happen. I told hem that was crazy he had at least a 30 day guarantee and needed to fix it. He said he would only for more money. I ended up paying him more money to put a new transmission in which he said he did. Well just today I noticed on her car that the engine light came on again. It appears that he never replaced the transmission like he said he was going to do put merely got the light to go out and charged me more money. People need to know that this is what is going to happen. He does a lot of advertising on Craigslist.Desired Settlement: Just give me my money back

Initial Business Response

Mr. [redacted] came to my shop on feb27/2013 with his Toyota corolla stating that he has a transmission problem..he first told me that recently have an engine replace and he don't want to pay too much money for a new transmission..Then after I diagnostic the problem, I suggest him, install a good used transmission with only 40.K miles (most of Japanese trannys come directly from japan w/ low mileage) I installed the used trans but before that I remove the transmission pan installed a new external seals and filter and I noticed, that internally was and smell clean and the fluid still red...After the installation we road test and transmission was working properly....Mr [redacted] pick up his car and about a week later told me that the 'check engine' light came on and he brought back the car...I checked and the' check engine' light code was related to the torque converter...As a courtesy,we installed a SECOND used transmission at no charge but this time, I told the custumer that I will only charge him for a REBUILT torque converter(only the part)...Mr [redacted] pick up his car,,,and NOW 6 months later (he said 4) the 'light' came on again without any prove that is a transmission problem and he wrote this 'complaint' without calling me first..It just don't make any sense..... Thank you.

Final Consumer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

First off you say why didn't I call you after the engine light came on before I notified the Revdex.com, well seeing as you didn't honor your warranty after a couple of days the first time what would make me think that you would take care of this problem now. You said when I put the original used transmission in that you would thoroughly check it out before installing it, lo and behold after a couple of days there is a P740 torque convertor error. Now I have to pay more to put a different transmission in, didn't sound right then and still doesn't now. Anyway I went ahead and paid just to get this behind me. I agree a lot of time has passed, I don't see my daughter's car that often and when I just saw the engine light I asked her about it and she said it had been on for months. I agree she should have said something sooner. Anyway the problem still remains that I had a P740 error on the first transmission and what do you know a P740 error on the second, sure sounds like you never did anything to the first one other than tweak it to get the code to go away. I just want to let people know to be prepared for this type of service.

Final Business Response

This is my second and last response to Mr. [redacted] complaint..Let me be more specific.:

Mr. [redacted] don't get it . He suppose to call me and schedule an appoiment to bring his car back to check the problem while the car is still under warranty... I don't care about the relationship he has with his daugther the fact of the matter is bringing the car back.. Now more than 6 months pass and the warranty is expired.. and is nothing else to do.

Now I don't going to respond any further coments.. My possition and my point is very clear to this matter.-
