Thank you for your phone calls and spending time to contact county and the contractor.Attached are images of contract we signed with John G***, the owner of JP Grabestetter ConstructionOther than law suit, can we get John to find out a way to get permits for the project?Besides the permit issues, he has not finished his job - some switch panel was not installed, stairs were not finished, paint touchup, etcHope that everything can be sorted out.I really appreciate it!Sincerely,*** ***

The consumer knew that there was no permit acquired for the work performed at their house and were not billed for the additional administrative and technical fees required for permitting. They requested a permit on the last day of the project. At that time we immediately went about getting
the permit through the appropriate channels with the county at no additional cost to the homeowner. (we strive to make sure everyone is satisfied)I then submitted the required paperwork to the consumer for the required signatures from the county. The consumer refused to sign required paperwork necessary to get the permit and subsequent inspections. (11/18/17)Signing the papers that I had provided from the county would be the only way that the permits would be issued. My hands are tied at this point as the consumer will not sign the required paperwork necessary for the permit applications. I stopped responding to the consumer after they refused to sign the required paperwork because there is nothing else left in my power to make this right
I am rejecting this response because:
I have to say that the response from JP Grabenstetter Construction LLC is a lieWe clearly told the business owner (John G***) the project needs to be legal when we showed him the basement for quotationHe told us that his company is a legal company and he would certainly follow rules and take care of everythingAfter we found he did not get permit for our basement project at the end of Sept 2017, we had a lot of messages back and forthHis messages to me clearly stated he “forgot getting permit for the project” and he thinks we will be fine “even without permit for the project” because “99% of his basement projects do not have permit and never got problems”If necessary, I can submit the messages for further investigationThe document the business owner wanted us to sign is “Single-Family Homeowners Affidavit” that put the homeowner to be responsible to get permit for the basement projectWe certainly refused to sign the documentsAfter our attorney applied pressure to the business owner (John G***) in Oct 2017, John submitted application of permit to Summit County in early Nov of However since then, he did not respond our inquiries (times) any moreWe need him to arrange county inspections for the basement project as soon as possible
The business owner is at a loss how to help the homeowner. He restates that he can't do anything without the consumer signing the paperwork.
