J & P Machine Repair Reviews (1)

I brought my vehicle to this business to have the Electronic Control Module calibrated for increased fuel efficiency on December 8, 2014. On the 6th of January, I indicated that I was not realizing any increase in fuel mileage or power. I was told that the power increase should be evident if tested by appropriate machinery, and that they were willing to reverse the calibration and issue a refund. By January 22nd I called to inform them that although an increase in power was now evident, no increase in fuel mileage was being realized which was the MAIN PURPOSE I hired their service to achieve (which was clearly indicated to them at the time of the service), and that I desired to have the calibration reversed and my money ($ 1865.75) refunded as promised. The technician who performed the service indicated that an engine problem he noted at the time of the service was the reason why he believed I did not realize the increase, and that he wished I would give it more time, but to call back in two weeks for scheduling the service reversal and refund if I so desired. Upon calling back, I was told the technician would call me when he had the time. Since this time, repeated attempts to get them to honor their word have been unsuccessful. Return calls have not been made, and only promises have been delivered each time I have reached someone by phone after, now, six weeks. This indicates to me there is no intention to carry through on their word without some outside intervention. My last call was made on February 27th in which I indicated that if I did not receive any call by the end of that day, I would be forced to conclude that they have no desire to perform the service and issue a refund, as they promised.Product_Or_Service: Engine computer calibrationOrder_Number: XXXXXDesired SettlementI desire them to fulfill their word and promptly schedule my vehicle for a reversal of the calibration and a full refund of the amount tendered.Business Response On J&P Machine Repair's behalf,Upon the day of the customer arriving, I noted to him BEFORE the truck was pulled in that the truck sounded improperly and seemed to have a miss in the engine,he noted he did hear it, we then procedeed with updating ECM calibration upon customers request ( which does not in any way fix or repair mechanical issues, this was totally different work for a coompletly different problem custoomer was having) Upon backing the unit out of the shop I once again informed the customer the unit sounded poorly and needed checked when possible, he agreed and traveled on, I received a phone call a week or so later stating the truck was increased in power and raised the speed limiter as per the customer wanted, but fuel mileage was still a problem ( stemming from the engine missing and noise I told the customer of) I then asked the customer if he had the engine repaired or fixed of the previously spoken problem, in which he stated he had not, I have recieved several meaningless, sensless phone calls from the customer since, in which he has stated he STILL HAS NOT FIXED THE ISSUE I NOTED TO HIM. Updating a ECM calibration for a different reason other than a engine miss is by no means a magic "fix all" wand that takes care of your trucks every mechanical issues, the truck was in a poorly running state when arrived, therefore it is still in a poorely running state now. The problem is simple, if you do not repair the problem with the engine, it will never be correct, its almost the same as changing a tire on a vehicle in hopes that it will stop a engine noise, there is no sense to it. Our company deals with thousands upon thousands of cusotmers throughtout the US and Canada, as you see we have yet had one single issue, other than this. Some people it is very hard to explain the simplest of things and make them understand, to that I say, sir, please repair all the problems with your vehicle correctly before placing blame on others, some people have absolutley no understanding of mechanics or how things work. Thank youConsumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)As previously explained, J&P never once informed me that they would not refund and reverse their work on the unit until the engine problem was addressed. Instead they chose to make promises and lead me on endlessly. This is unexplainable. If they had simply stated such, we would not be dealing with the matter as we are now. Be that as it may, the engine issue has now been resolved, and there yet remains no increase in fuel mileage after running the unit almost 2400 miles. Of note is the fact that before choosing to take the unit to J&P, I had consulted with another shop which also performed this service, and they informed me that they could NOT insure a fuel mileage gain. Now I know why. I made J&P my choice of shops due to their guarantee of a fuel mileage increase. If anything, ( and I mentioned this to J&P as well), I have noticed a slight DOWNTURN in fuel mileage. In light of these facts, I want the service reversed and a refund of my money. Final Business Response
