J. Palermo Moving & Storage

When things go wrong, they can go horribly wrong! The fourth time we hired J. Palermo Moving & Storage was the worst decision we may have ever made. They had done a good job on earlier moves, but this time we were scammed, we were lied to, we were duped and we have no recourse except to advise any reader of this review to be very, very certain that the contract says exactly what you want it to say, and everything that might seem obvious is stated clearly.
The furniture to be moved from Sarasota, Florida, to Pennsylvania, had been moved from Englewood to Sarasota a few months earlier. The same employees made the move from Englewood to Sarasota, and then to the J. Palermo Moving & Storage warehouse facility, and finally to PA. When they came to pick up the load to take it to the warehouse (until a long-distance run was scheduled), we made it very clear to the lead employee, that there was a steep flight of stairs at the final destination. We even teased about how many of the workers would be needed for that trip!
We were out of town and unable to be in PA, when they gave us 24 hours' notice that the truck would be in PA on Wednesday (that should have been a red flag!) We arranged to have our son drive from New Jersey (a 6 ½ hour drive) to meet them Thursday morning, to unlock the door for the moving men. When our son called to say that only one man arrived, we made phone calls to J. Palermo Moving & Storage only to be told (first disreputable assertion) that our contract said first floor delivery. We explained to Susan, at J. Palermo Moving & Storage, that all parties involved knew very well that it was mostly a second-floor delivery of very big and heavy furniture. Susan then called to tell us (second disreputable assertion) that Joe had arranged to have someone come to help unload. No one came to help, and so that turned out to be a bold, deceitful, big, fat lie. Our son who is not able to do that kind of physical activity, helped as he could. That is how our furniture and boxes were finally off-loaded from the J. Palermo Moving & Storage truck!
No words, or gestures, or further explanations can undo the way we have been mis-treated. And there were no words, gestures or explanations offered!
Needless to say, we fervently rescind our glowing review from March, 2020, and we urge any reader to carefully consider how they will feel when they are lied to and cheated and scammed out of what they believe is an honest and accurate business arrangement!
Their ad says they do the heavy lifting for you. Well, they don't always! Their ad says their services will run smoothly! Well, they might not! Buyer, Beware!

Joe P. personally visits the site to review the move and bid it. THEN he personally comes on moving day to review the move AND get things started. The four men he sent were polite, careful, pleasant and made sure things were clean and safe. They checked with me from time to time as to items and always asked before having a drink of even water. I NEVER saw or heard one of them on their phones or using poor language. They were very courteous and followed directions without hesitation.
A true sign of the quality of their work is this... the manager of the condo building I moved into told me and Joe P. that his company was the most professional, conscientious and friendly team of movers she has seen in the 8 years she had been at this building. They have at least 8 moves a year for 68 units. I highly recommend this company and Joe P.

Just completed the second phase of a long distance and local move with J. Palermo Moving, which included 9 months of storage in his climate controlled vaulted facility. The staff was very accommodating during the scheduling process. Movers were all very professional and courteous. All furniture was meticulously wrapped, packed and cared for. Disassembled and reassembled as needed. All floors and walls were covered, protected and respected. If you are looking for a long distance mover, a local mover and are in need of storage J. Palermo is the first and only call you need to make. They are beyond 5 star!

Joseph P. is the BEST moving company we have used in over a dozen moves (in and around in NJ and in FL). They do all the details RIGHT: Call in advance to confirm appointments. Show up on time (actually a few minutes early). Friendly, professional personnel. No inexperienced people.
Our items were carefully wrapped in blankets when we exited our condo in August 2018 for a from-the-studs-out renovation, our complete condo to our storage rental all neat and tidy. In December 2018, they came to storage and moved us back to the condo. Absolutely the cleanest trucks we have ever seen. Beautifully finished inside and out. Nothing haphazard here. They are simply the BEST movers we have ever used. Competitive pricing too. An excellent business. Call them! You'll be DELIGHTED WITH THEIR SERVICE.

On time! Very polite, professional and efficient! they even removed the remaining existing furniture that was left in the condo (the other company could not fit all the furniture in their truck the day before) would recommend!

Joe Palermo was very professional and friendly to work with. Susan in the office made everything seem easy. We had to empty our condo on Longboat Key in preparation for a renovation. Joe looked after storing our items and was very helpful in receiving new items shipped to his storage location. When it was time to move back in all his staff were very careful and caring while moving into our freshly renovated condo. I believe that the price was more than reasonable.

From start to end these gentlemen were 5 star. In any line of work we choose it always comes down to the people we interact with that truly makes our experiences great. What a great experience!

The entire move went without a hitch

J. Palermo was the only moving company I called that came to my house to give me a firm estimate, in writing. They arrived on time the day of the move, did an excellent job in wrapping and protecting my furniture and home, was accommodating in even assisting in moving some boxes I was prepared to move myself. They delivered the furniture to my new home, unwrapped it and placed it where my wife wanted it, cleaned up and departed. I would definitely recommend them and hire them again if I need a mover.

We worked with J.Palermo Moving during a year-long renovation of our house. The crew who packed our belongings were careful and extremely courteous. They wrapped everything thoroughly and loaded it thoughtfully, even assisting me with my packing. When our belongings were unpacked, the owner came with a young helper. We were very impressed with the way Joe instructed his helper and how courteous the young helper was throughout the process. They were extremely efficient. We highly recommend the services of J.
