J. Peterman Company Reviews (%countItem)

1/3/20 I mailed an order for a *** item # *** from their catalogue on the company's form, enclosing my personal *** check. The item was an item on their "Winter Sale @ $98.00. Including shipping @$9.95 I submitted my check for $107.95. According to my bank's records, the company deposited my check on 1/16/20. I retained a copy of the order form and of the check. This retailer uses two names, The J.Peterman Company and JP Outfitters LLC but both have the exact same address 5345 Creek Road-Blue Ash, OH 45242 . I have been a customer of this company for nearly 20 years and they have always delivered promptly and if not have e-mailed the reason for any delay. This time by 1/27 no delivery had been made and no communication so I phoned them at the Customer Service # in their catalogue. *** A female answered the phone and said they had the order but that item was "out of stock but reordered" and I should expect delivery within two weeks. I asked why they cashed my check if the item was out of stock and she had no answer so I said that if it was not delivered within 30 days I am hereby cancelling the order. After an additional month there was no delivery or communication so I called. Voice mail. Their web site JPC.com registered non existent. I had no e-mail for them.
On 4/21 I tried phoning again got voice mail SAYING SOMEONE WOULD CALL BACK" and I left a message with both my phone # and e-mail. The phone # had also been on my order form. I left a short voicemail saying this is no way to treat a long time customer and also said I am beginning to wonder if the company still exists. I HAVE RECEIVE NO COMMUNICATION AT ALL REGARDING THIS MATTER.

BUT I receive e-mail product offers from the company every single day and once a month receive a revised catalogue. So they cannot argue that they are shut down because of the virus issue or that they have no staff. THEY MAKE NO EFFORT TO COMMUNICATE AT ALL.

On 3/26/2020 I placed an order for merchandise under order # ***, I never received a confirmation email, and on 4/17/2020 I emailed the customer service requesting the status of my order. I received a reply advising that due the COVID-19 they were only shipping out orders every 3 weeks. My order was shipped on 4/22/2020. I only received 1 of the items order with a note stated that the other items was sold out. The item that was alleged sold out was dress called July 4th 50s Dress priced at $69.50. However, I went back online and the it showed that the dress was in stock in the size ordered. I ordered the dress again, under the same method on 4/28/2020, order # *** however, when I received the merchandise I was charged $104 plus shipping for a total of $115.95. I feel that they should have honored the original pricing of $69.50. Considering that online never showed the item as out of stock.

On December 31, 2019, I ordered two sweaters from J. Peterman. One fit, and one did not; the one that did not is Vintage Baseball Sweater, Item Number 4653, which the catalog says costs 239 dollars. I mailed the baseball sweater back to them on February 8, 2020, and I have confirmation from the Post Office that they received the sweater on February 10, 2020. They did not refund my money, so I called them on March 25 and spoke to a young lady who said the refund should happen around April 6. She also claimed the Coronavirus had put them behind, but when I pointed out that there were no Coronavirus shutdowns on or immediately after February 10, she acknowledged the Coronavirus had nothing to do with the delay. April 6 came and went--no refund. I called them again on May 4. Despite the fact that their website advertises "live chat" during the time I called, I got their voicemail. I left a polite message, which has not been returned. I now see from the many complaints about J. Peterman not refunding money that this is a common issue with them, and that their "customer service" is horrendous. Apparently, this company has gone to the dogs.

Purchased on 12/02.2019 a Christmas gift (U.S. *** sweater and U.S. *** Cap) for my husband who is a retired *** . I thought it would be a memory type gift from his years flying missions. Unfortunately, he thought it would be too heavy and hot for our *** weather. It was returned on 12/27. To date no refund despite numerous follow up phone calls, letter and e-mail contact. Last contact with Damian (Return Supervisor) in March he wrote that the refund would be in the mail in two days. To date 5/06/2020 promises to return call, refund etc have resulted in no follow up nor communication on part of JPeterman Company.

JPeterman just refunded the $67.00 to my credit card. Thank you for your help. It took over 5 months, tons of calls, on line conversations plus letters and complaint to Revdex.com. Horrendous business practices.

In December 2019 I made an online purchase with J. Peterman. The two items ordered were not as described and they were returned using return labels provide with original shipment. After 2 months, and no correspondence, I called J Peterman customer service to confirm shipment had been received and inquire about my refund. They confirmed receipt of goods, but could not provide a date for the refund.
In January 2020 I placed an additional order with J Peterman, 2 off the items were back-ordered, though I was charged for all items at the time of transaction. After 2 months I called to inquire about back-ordered items, I was told they had been cancelled and I would receive a credit.
To date I have received a partial credit for the first order. I have never received any communication from the company regarding why full amount was not returned. It has been 6 months. I have reached out to the company both by phone and their customer service email system, to no avail.
While they confirm the orders, my returned items, back-ordered items- they offer no assistance as far as providing my refund. I have asked when I can expect to receive refund, my email went unanswered. I have waited 6 months- at this point I am out the money paid for the items, and have also been charged interest from my credit card company for items still in their possession.
I am requesting a full refund with interest, thank you.

I ordered a dress on or about Feb. 7, 2020. I did not like the dress and returned it using J. Peteman's return label. It was received at Blue Ash, Ohio on 2/21/2020 according to the tracking service. I expected a refund of $368.00 (This amount does not include shipping,) The $368.00 has not shown up on my *** statements. I have made four telephone calls. On the first call I was told it be a month before the refund paperwork could be processed, so I waited a month. On the second call their recorded message was that, due to the Corona virus, their staff was working remotely, and I could expect a return call in 2-3 business days. I did receive a message on my answering machine that J. Peterman Company had called, and would call back. Nobody called. I have made two additional calls without being able to talk to anyone or receive a return call. On my last call, I left a message that I would file a complaint with Revdex.com if I did not hear from them. It is now 5/2/2020 and as promised, here is the complaint

After several attempts to check on a return went unanswered I was able to connect today through live chat. I was informed that the one -- ONE -- employee who worked on returns left in December 2019 and had not been replaced until March 2020. The company may claim their delay is due to COVID-19 but as of today they are still working on returns from last December. In any case they say they will not start processing returns until the Ohio lockdown order is ended. I informed them this would be my last transaction with their company; I recommend to anyone else not to do business with them again. If there were a zero star rating I would give it here.

On December 2, 2019 I returned unopened merchandise that I decided was unsuitable for Christmas gifts, along with a signed letter, and a completed RETURNS and EXCHANGES form, to J. Peterman Company requesting a refund of $542.95 for the purchases that were initially placed on my VISA card. The returned merchandise was received on December 5, 2019 by J. Peterman Co., confirmed by USPS tracking. Subsequently I placed several telephone calls to J Peterman Co., none of which were answered, nor were messages responded to. Also several Emails were sent requesting my refund: these were not responded to as well. I want my refund of $542.95. .

I ordered several items on January 4, 2020, Order # ***. I only kept 1 piece of garment, a striped Russian style shirt. After returning the rest of the order I am waiting for a refund of $ 430.00 minus the return fee. Today it is April 3, 2020, and I have yet to receive my money. It’s impossible to call this company, I managed to chat with Lisa D, she told me that because of COVID 19, they are not able to get in to their office; I then pointed out that they received my return before the crisis. When checking their website it seems to be up and running so I started a new chat, the same person answered, I asked if I can purchase items at this time during the crisis, and if the company is open? My question was read, but at that point the conversation was cut off! This is really uncomfortable and sad. They seem to have enough money to send out elaborate catalogs.

ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT EVER PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY AGAIN. I ordered Clothing ($652.45) December 30, 2019, for son's wedding on JAN 17, 2020. The items after calling multiple times to check on the status of the shipment finally arrived on January 13, 2020. All items were returned to J Peterman Company on January 14, 2020 and received by J Peterman Company on January 16, 2020, at 8:01 am. I'm still yet to get my refund from them for the entire purchase and today is April 2, 2020. I would NOT recommend this company for anything. Customer Service is awful. J Peterman Company claims that the delay is due to the COVID-19 Virus. WRONG. They received my return in the same packages and the same box in JANUARY 2020 long before the pandemic was announced. This is not only UNPROFESSIONAL but UNETHICAL!

Made a return of a product originally purchased 12/31/2019. It was delivered back to the company 1/10/2020. As of 3/27/2020 I have yet to be refunded $137.50.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this is resolved.

The manager's canned response is factually inaccurate. The 3/16 attempt to refund was rejected due to an internal problem with the business' processor. At that point in time it had already been 2 months since the return and should have already been refunded. 2 months after that(I realize there was a shut down) I finally spoke with an individual that was able to help and promptly processed the refund on 5/14.

I've not been able to secure a 2 month old refund from this company. After several calls to the company and speaking with many of the employees in the Customer Service, this issue is still unresolved.

I placed an order on Jan 8 and never received the merchandise nor an update on the order status, although my bank showed the check was cashed on Jan 21. When I called to follow up, they acted like they had never heard of me and implied I’d made out the check incorrectly, but when I said my bank showed the cashed check physically and it was clearly made out to the J Peterman Company, they said it was mail order so would take longer to process. On Feb 20, still having no merchandise or follow-up, I cancelled my order and was told my refund would be sent the next week. Each time I contact the company, I’m told they’re processing my refund; that checks are only issued twice/month; that my check will
Be mailed the next week. . . This is beyond ridiculous! Is the company in bankruptcy proceedings?

J. Peterman does business as Guideboat Company. I purchased two identical sweaters from Guideboat. I intended only to purchase one. I telephoned their customer service but was unable to stop the duplicate order. When the duplicate arrived, I promptly returned the sweater in unused condition to Guideboat. The returned clothing items were received via UPS on December 30, 2019 @ 7:47AM (I have a screen shot of the Proof of Delivery). [To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter. Type your reasons here

I did receive a refund for the merchandise I returned, but it took almost three months and filing a complaint with the Revdex.com to receive the money I should have received in a more timely manner. I called the company TWICE and was assured that my refund would be made "within the next few days." This never came about which is why I asked the Revdex.com to intervene. I cannot do business with this company in the future, which is unfortunate as they have many beautiful items for sale.

I placed an order from J Peterman on 11/24/19. I returned one of the items and according to UPS it was delivered on 12/16/2019. Today I called J Peterman as I had not received the credit on my Credit card. They acknowledged that they received the package but are behind on processing returns. While they confirmed that they will process the return, my concern is whether this is a fair business practice to have the product back but to not credit a customers account for over 2 1/2 months. It seems excessive and a concerning business practice.

Ordered a jacket in 12/19. Returned with their UPS label 1/2/20. Called 1/24/20 to inquire about refund. Advised they received return 1/15/20 and they gave themselves 30 days to process but she would request mine to be prioritized. Called again 2/13/20 and was told it would be processed 2/18/20 and I would have credit by 2/20/20.
This appears to be a common complaint about this company with no apparent improvement on their part.

Re Order W8398965 placed December 4, 2019. Before order was received catalog was sent with exact same item on sale.
Called customer service ('Dawn') on January 2, 2020 at 3:50 p.m. She advised difference in price was $50 and she could offer a refund in the form of a gift certificate for this $50. She then put me on hold, double checked with her supervisor, came back to the phone and confirmed this would be done.
Dawn did advise it would take a few weeks for gift certificate to be sent to me. It has been over one month and nothing has been received by me.
I followed up via email to J. Peterman and also online under "contact" area but have not received any response from J. Peterman. I have been a customer of J. Peterman from way back (when J.
