Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because it is all lies His story changes daily
May 22,
I am rejecting this response because it is full of lies. First of all, I got ***’s name from an ad in the East Lyme Times and have a copy of it. I did not know that *** was his electrician til I met *** and he told me. I asked him for estimates, one for the damage caused by the tenants ($9950) to use in court and one for some other work I wanted done. He gave me an estimate for ($24,800) for both jobs and listed the things to be done. I have copies of both estimates. It listed, Repair and paint all walls and ceilings, coats; Replace countertop and kitchen cabinets; Install kitchen floor; Replace broken doors; Replace shower, sink, toilet, and flooring in bath; Repair back porch floor; Replace heating system and radiator; Refinish wood flooring; Install new replacement window; Miscellaneous electrical work (lights, switches, plugs); and Clean area and haul away junk. At the bottom it said, “Most materials will be bought from ***, Kitchen cabinets will be basic in stock from ***” I specifically asked him before I signed the contract if he was sure of the price, and told him that was my absolute top lineI thought at the time that it seemed like a lot to do for $24,800. He said yes, I signed the contract on December 11, He told me that he would be done by the end of January so that I could sell the house. I gave him a deposit of $At no time did he tell me that materials were over and above the contractNor was it in the contractHe asked me if I was aware that *** had a no interest for months credit card. I said I did not know thatI did check out the credit card and decided to get one. I gave him one card in his name for $10,I checked on him several times at the beginning of January. On one visit he said he needed another $for a furnace as *** does not sell furnaces. I gave him a check. Then things went down hill. I left on January for Florida. My son did check on him once a week and he was never there. At the beginning I called him once a week asking him what was happening. He always answered. He did not send me any email pictures until March 18. From that time I heard nothing from him. My calls were unanswered. I did leave two messages, to one he replied, “I’m sick, call you next week”, he never did; to the second he replied, “ I’m in the Bahamas, call you next week and you owe me $7000.” I replied immediately that the contract I had signed was for $24,and I did not have another $7000. After that I did not hear from him again. I got home at the beginning of April and went to check on the house. It was not finished. The sink was not installed, plumbing was not done, the molding is not on, junk was piled on porch and outside on lawn, kitchen ceiling had different tiles, living room ceiling was not painted, doors were not bought or hung; no furnace, no slate on porch. The windows he installed show gaps and insulation around them and he did not remove the old window casingsRadiators were not installed and the electricity was not finished. I started calling him twice a day for weeks. (That's times) He did not answer. I did not leave a message cause he would not have called me back. He also saw my number on his smart phone but did not reply. When I threatened him with a lawyer by e mail he responded that I had the wrong person. I finally set a meeting with him on May 5. I told him his communication skills were poor and the house wasn’t finished as he had promised. During the conversation he went from me owing him $7000, to $10,000, to $2000. When I told him we had a signed contract (he said he didn’t remember the amount) and I would not have him do the furnace or the porch but he needed to finish. He agreed to finish for our contract amountI did not agree to pay him when I sold the house. I kept telling him we had a signed contract and as it was I gave up the furnace and the porchHe did not stay and work, he left I came back the next day. The junk in the yard had been removed, not even a half days work, and he was not there, nor the next day. At that point I e mailed him that if he was’t finished by the next Friday, May 16, (He said he would be finished by the end of January)he would hear from my lawyer. He emailed me back that he wanted $and why didn’t I get a HOme Depot card. I told him I was done. Please give me back my key and charge card. He then tried to tell me he wanted to finish. I told him I was done with him, send me my key and my charge card. He responded with some name calling and a threat to put a lien on the house. I did not respond back to him. I still have not received my key and charge card. He has spent $on the *** card(plus the $I gave him = $25153) On checking the bills, I found he used my card for toilets, vanities (yet I only have one bathroom,) k-cups, snowblower parts and lubrication, and a ladderI want my key and charge card back and I also want the ladder, toilet and vanity paid for with my card back
Sincerely,

I met [redacted] thru my electrician who I have worked with on many jobs in the past, and present. She needed someone to give her an estimate on the job, because she wants to sue a tenant for all...

the work that needs to be done on the home. [redacted] and I started talking about remodeling the house and selling it. She received a price from me and we ended up settling on her to be responsible for buying all materials, and I would be responsible for the labor which we totaled at $16,000.00.  We completely remodeled her entire house with that money. Out of that money, I also paid the plumber, electrician, hardwood floor guy, carpet installer, and tile floor guy for all the labor that was completed in the house. We also had to pay to remove all the junk that was in the basement and outside the house, plus dump fees. I have spent over $20,000.00 on this job and was only paid $16,000.00. I sent her an email with pictures of what we had done and let her know that we were going to be $7,000.00 over budget and I received no response. Before she left we had discussed that she could not spend more than $30,000.00.  She said her son was going to be checking up on us to see how we were, I never saw him once. I waited for her to come back she said she tried to call me about 4 times but out of those 4 times, I never once was left a voicemail I was getting concerned and got a text from somebody saying they were going to contact a lawyer and I responded I don’t know who this is, you have wrong number. I did not know it was her. We finally got together and went over the project and explained what we had done and why there were extras I told her I would work with her so we could finish and she seemed a little upset saying I don’t have extra money, I have a big mortgage on it and I said I would finish the work if she paid me when she sold the house. She said ok get started and we made a list of things I had to do, hang 3 doors help her install a furnace, make 2 dump runs, hook up drain under sink, and those last three items she was to purchase but [redacted] does not sell furances so I told her to get it from home depot. She did not respond to me and then told me if I did not get back over there there and finish she will soon call her lawyer I said please have your lawyer call me so I can talk to him and get him to understand that I am willing to work with her to finish I gave her a  $35,000 job for very little money which I have not made any profit. I can account for every dollar spent and I have pictures and videos of the whole entire project. We pride ourselves on our work, and value our customers, and we are willing to complete this job, but she did not want to go any further.

Review: I hired [redacted] to renovate a house I inherited. We signed a contract on December 14, 2013. For $24,800 he was to replace the kitchen and bath, clean junk out of the house, paint all the rooms, and give me new windows and a new furnace and all new doors. He was also supposed to replace the floor on the porch. I gave him a deposit of $8000 and a [redacted] charge card with a limit of $10,000. He has used over $8000, some of it for personal business like snow blower parts. In January he asked me for $8000 as [redacted] does not have furnaces ad he needed money to buy one. I gave him a check for $8000. He was supposed to finish by the end of January so that I could sell the house. It is now the end of April. He e mailed me that he was in the Bahamas and couldn't talk but that I owed him $7000 more. He refuses to answer his phone which I call twice a day for the past 3 weeks. I have also called from another phone which he didn't answer. His e mail no longer works. My text to him came back to me as wrong person. There is no furnace. There is still junk in the porch and yard. There is no plumbing under the sink. There is a new kitchen and bath but things are missing. ( knobs, lights, molding) Doors have not been replaced. The house inside has been painted except for the living room ceiling. Lights all over the house have been removed. New lights sit in a box on the counter but are not installed. The porch is filled with junk and not even started on. There is a pile of junk in the yard. He did replace the windows but did not remove the old frames. I did send him an email saying that we have a contract and he never notified me of any extras other than replacing pipes under the sink in the kitchen. I told him he could not spend $7000 of my money without my permission. Since then I have been unable to contact him in any way.Desired Settlement: I would like him to finish what he started in a timely manner.
