Euclid Ave. 4th Floor Cleveland, OH 44115-2408 Dear [redacted], RE: Complaint #10[redacted] In answer to the above complaint, please be advised of the following information: On December 28, 2016, 3 men were on the job for 7 Y2 hours. On December 29th, 2 men were on the job for 6172 hours, because only 2 men were needed to complete the move. All of the workers were regular, trained, employees. All of the items moved were padded in the truck. Some of the items were antiques and the wood was dry and came apart. The 8 pieces of furniture that were damaged were repaired to the customer's satisfaction. The washing machine has a small metal piece on top that is bent. I am not sure if it was bent before the move as it does not look like moving damage. The claim for the 2 pieces of electronic equipment has been settled at the agreed value of 60 cents per pound per article. I have enclosed a copy of the declared value, signed by the owner. The following is a breakdown of the settlement: Turntable 10 lbs at 60 cents per pound = $6.00 Receiver 10 lbs at 60 cents per pound = $6.00 Total loss: $12.00 The settlement check was sent to the customer. In addition, the total cost of the move was $1,667.50 of which the customer only paid $1400.00. They still have an unpaid balance due of $267.50. In summary, this move was handled by regular, trained, employees and the furniture was handled carefully. The scratches and the antique items that came apart because of age were taken care of and the 2 pieces of electronic equipment was settled by our liability limits. The washing machine works fine and the bent metal piece on top is very minor. I believe this settlement is complete. Respectfully, Jeffrey A J[redacted]President

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I have reviewed the response provided by Jeffrey J[redacted]. Mr. J[redacted] was not on site for any of the moving days and therefore does not have first hand knowledge of how this move was handled. We were on site the entire move and the observations provided were first hand observations and conversations with the workers. Day 2 of the move is when the issues occurred. There were 2 workers, one was brand new, and the second one made many references thru the day as to him being untrained and new on the job. The 8 pieces of furniture that were damaged had nothing to do with being dry. Yes, they are antiques, however scrapes, gouges and removed pieces were due to carelessness. If something is dry it may have to be glued back together. Glue was not used in these repairs. Mr. J[redacted] has the furniture repair documents and is misrepresenting the simplicity of the repair, attempting to minimize the damage. If pads would have been used, most of this would not have happened. On several pieces we witnessed the carelessness and called them out on it. At one point Mr. J[redacted] called to "see how it was going" and I told him it was not going well and just what was happening. The wash machine is newer. There was zero damage on it, prior to the move. The entire top "control console" on the right side is loose from the rest of the wash machine, and bent. Mr. J[redacted] came to our home following the move and inspected it. He is not being honest when he states" a small metal piece on top is bent."  The electronics claim has not been settled. Mr. J[redacted] is fully aware that these components were recklessly dropped by an untrained worker trying to handle an overloaded 2 wheeler. I witnessed him drop the two wheeler and the components drop to the concrete. One box split open on impact. I spoke to the worker about it when it happened. Mr. J[redacted] told me to get prices for like  components and provide them to him. I did and he clearly did not like the prices. These were expensive components that will cost much more than the prices provided to him to replace. He told me to think about replacing them with something much cheaper, and even sent a letter sarcastically suggesting a juvenile unit.  We have not signed off on anything, and have not reached an agreement or even discussed an option with Mr. J[redacted].  There is zero balance due on this move. Mr. J[redacted] was paid in full following the move as he demanded. He stated that he would resolve the issues that occurred as soon as he had a chance to come and inspect the damage that occurred, so we paid him. Serious concern continues with Mr. J[redacted]'s integrity and lack of respect for the trust one places when hiring a moving company. I would warn others in Lorain County that this mover is not qualified to move anyone's belongings safely.
Regards,
[redacted]
