It is our camp policy that we do not offer cash refunds once a camper checks into campThis is stated in our Terms and Conditions at the time of registration and must be agreed to in order to register to our camps. We did have a new director at that camp location and when I asked him about this situation and reminded him of this policy he stated "he is aware of the policy and discussed camp credit for a future camp and apologized if the mother misinterpereted the meaning of camp credit." He also stated he never used the term Cash Refund when speaking with her.We are more than willing to offer her a camp credit for any unused days at the end of this camp season as our policy states and what she agreed to when she registered her son to our campWe allow camp credits to be sold or transferred to other campers as well. Here is a link to our Terms and Conditions of camp, again that must be agreed to in order to register to any of our camps.https://jrobinsoncamps.com/terms-conditionsThank you.Kelly [redacted] Customer Service ManagerJ Robinson Intensive Camps###-###-####kelly[redacted] @jrobinsoncamps.com

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/10/28) */
I'm sorry that Mr. [redacted] does not approve of our Cancellation Policy. I did communicate the policy with him via email correspondence. We do have a Cancellation Policy and we do require registrants to agree to them prior to signing up for any...

of our camps. Mr. [redacted] did agree to our Terms and Conditions when he registered his son for our Basketball camp on 4/28/15. He also did not elect Deposit Insurance at the time of Registration. Because of that, his original deposit of $500.00 is forfeited. Cancellations coming in less than 59 days prior to camp check in will get Camp Credit and not a cash refund. These terms and conditions are also found on our Website in the FAQ http://www.intensivebasketballcamps.com/parents/faq
as well as on the cancellation request form he submitted to us on June 11, 2015. The Camp he registered for started on July 5, 2015. This is less than 59 days of camp check in so when we processed cancellations in September we found him to be eligible for Camp Credit minus the forfeited $500.00 deposit. We issued him a credit letter in the amount of $1056.00 that he can either apply to our next Basketball camp in the summer of 2016 or he can sell or transfer it to anyone else. I have attached a copy of the 1.Registration Form he completed online showing he agreed to our Terms and Conditions, 2.a copy of the Cancellation Form he submitted to us on 6/11/15 which also has a copy of our Cancellation policy as well as the 3.Credit letter we issued to him September 27th 2015. Please let me know if you have any questions. Mr. [redacted] can certainly contact me with any further questions.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/10/29) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Again, I understand that JRIC has a policy and that I agreed to the fine print within it without reading it. What I have an issue with is the amount of money JRIC thinks they can hold. JRIC is not a bank and shouldn't be allowed to hold our money and make interest off of it. JRIC is also not Target or the Gap and store credit isn't a viable option in this case. I am not accusing JRIC of doing anything illegal. Just unethical and bad business in my opinion. This is over $1000, not a sweater, or a gift card. That is a lot of money for most families.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2015/11/02) */
Again, I am sorry that Mr. [redacted] does not agree with our Cancellation Policy. However it is not our business practice to go against our Terms and Conditions. As stated before, we do allow Credit Letters to be sold or transferred to any other potential camper. Many people sell these credits on our Facebook page or reaching out to school coaches. Many parents will buy credits from another parent trying to sell them. Typically we do not assist in the selling of these credits however I would be happy to help you with this. Please contact me directly and we can come up with a plan to do so.

I am rejecting this response because:
The "new" director NEVER stated camp credit in any of our 3 discussions.  As a matter of fact, I specifically asked about getting my money back in all 3 of our conversations since this was an expense that I could not afford to begin with, I made sure to specifically ask about a money refund, and he stated, "Yes, it won't be a problem, I will let the office know that your son was hurt and he doesn't just want to go home. Just call Kelly in the office and she will take care of your refund for you, she is really easy to work with."  I am now aware of the fact that J Robinson has in their policies that they do not offer cash refunds, however, that is not what I was told by their employee when I specifically asked him about a money refund.  Also, J Robinson is offering a "camp refund" but it will not be issued until October 2016, which is 4 months from now. Additionally, my son is a senior in high school and the camp refund will not be used by him nor do I know anyone that I would or could "sell" it to as we live over 8 hours away from the camp.I still have not received a call or email from J. Robinson which I have also requested.
