Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/09/21) */
I am responding in reference to the complaint against meJSchultz drywall LLC
About a year ago I took on *** jobwe were to hang, tape, sand, prim, and paint
another company did the demolitionwhen I first looked at the
job which was in like an attic
I noticed that all the plaster was very crack uphair line cracks, and bigger cracks all over
well we hung the sheet rockdid a first coat, came back to do the second coat and noticed
that a few of the butt joints had hair line cracksso I cut them open thinking there may not have been enough mud in the seamsthen did the second coat through outcame backagain I seen hair line cracksdid the same thing to repair the problemonly made sure enough screws were in and that sort of thingcame back to finish coat and only one butt joint had a hair line crackI fixed it againlet every thing dry, came back and sanded everythingprimed everythingpainted everythingwe had to go back and paint a extra coat, after painting no cracks seen at allafter that I was sure we were done with the jobBefore getting paid *** and I went through the whole joband got paid in fullA couple months later *** calls " hey got some cracks can you fix them" I said ill come over and look at them the same day or next dayI looked and the cracks were even bigger than any other timeI've been doing doing drywall for years, I see this happening when long ceilings in attics contract and expands
This was in the late winter early spring still getting real cold on days and warmer other days
I told *** the problem and said lets wait until it's winter again and wait till its really cold and the cracks should be at their biggest pointI also told him that he had to be there when I open up the cracks because if my tape had enough mud behind it and show him I had mud in the butt cracks that I would not do it for freehe would have to pay me time and materialhe agreedthen all of a sudden he text me that he wants to put his house up for saleand when could I do the cracksI told him about weeks outhe said put me on the listhe text me at about weeksI text him and told him to call me immediately we need to talk over the phone,.mind you I have no less than jobs on the book to do, working days a weekwell he did not call or text me for or dayslike I only got him to worry about.if I would have waited for him I would have lost or jobsand if he did get any other drywallers to look at the job like he says, and knew any thing, they would never say I didn't fish coat the jobplease remember Jim on Angies list with to years on the (A) HONER ROLLyears of experienceI was also a union drywaller for the first of those years
As I stated I told *** the only way I would try to fix the cracks was during the winter on a cold stretch so the cracks would be at their maximumNow he wants me to do it just so he can put house on the marketI feel I would be doing an injustice if I do it nowPlus I told him that I think he has a structural problemPlus he did this with out him or me even talking on the phone or in personHe just decides to call ( Revdex.com) thank you for your time
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/09/21) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
First, our bedroom never had plasterIt was paneling before we went to sheetrock (please see the attached before and after photos)So the ceiling wasn't "very crack uphair line cracks, and bigger cracks all over" as they state in their email
Next, I have been trying to get the cracks in the ceiling fixed since I first sent the pictures on January 18th(Warranty should cover the ceiling developing multiple cracks less than months after the job is complete.)
Since January I have reached out three timesEach time I get told they are 8-weeks outSo I ask if I can get put on the calendar and each time I am told noThe schedule is too far outThis last round of communication started on July 14th, and the last message I left for them was on September 3rd, and I have yet to hear back from them (please see the attachedI can send previous communication if required.)
So, because I have not heard back from them since September 3rd, and they have known about this problem since January 18th I decided to file a formal complaint
At this point we are tired of the run around and just want the cracks fixedWe just want to move forwardAnd we'd like to do so with another companyThus, we would like to request we obtain quotes from other licensed companies to fix the cracks and JSchultz Drywall pays for the repair
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2015/09/28) */
I am responding, *** is right There was paneling over the sheet rock, I showed up when the other company was gutting the ceilings and wallsThat is when I seen the sheet rock with all the cracks and suchWhy would you put paneling over sheet rockMany different reasons, but one is because you cant stop all the cracks from happeningThat attic area is going to have to contract and expand.Worth noting all the cracks are butt jointsnot any other seamsWe hung all rock horizontal, not verticalby fixing the cracks many times I know the problem is the contraction and expansionI have had good luck when coming back during a very cold period in the winter and (V) cutting the bad areas and the using duro bond in those cracksonce they are at there widest gap they then can not close up and split the seam.I told *** this and he agreedbut now because he wants his house on them market it seams he does not care about the new ownersI wont do something that I know wont work. And as far as comunication goes I told *** to call me on the phone so I can make sure where we stood as far was there drywall mud behind the tape when I opened up the cracks. He would not do itJust by textHis response time was totally unacceptableThe last time we text he got back to me or days later.I am busy so I took on other jobs he will need to deal with that.I was ready he was not
