We sincerely regret any frustration which the family may have experienced while trying to finalize the claim payment on the final policy. While we were able to pay the other policies back in July under a Facility of Payment Provision, the fact that Ms*** was
the ex-spouse and primary beneficiary, complicated the payment on the final policy. The state of Massachusetts revokes unless stipulated in the divorce settlement that the ex-spouse is entitled to the proceeds from the life insurance policy. We sent out several letters requesting the divorce decree and divorce settlement. Ms*** sent us a letter in October stating she is not going to send us the settlement. If the divorce settlement did not designate the ex-spouse to receive the proceeds, then the Estate would be entitled to the proceeds. The son, ***, submitted an estate affidavit. Upon receipt the payment was approved to pay the proceeds to the son of the insuredThe claim was paid out to ***, on 10/13/2017. If Mr*** has not yet received the payment, he should be receiving shortly. We trust that this is responsive to Ms***'s inquiry. Should the family have ay further questions regarding this matter, they may contact me directly at ***. Thank you. Sincerely, *** ***

Good morning.  We sincerely regret the delay in processing the death claim payment on the life insurance policy for [redacted]  Unfortunately, the payment was not made as originally reported to [redacted] Pursuant to our conversation with [redacted] , we have confirmed that...

checks were mailed today to both her as the beneficiary and to the [redacted] as she has requested. [redacted] seemed satisfied that this issue has now been resolved and has my direct contact information for any follow-up inquiries she may have. Sincerely, [redacted]

Good afternoon, we are responding in response to the subject complaint submitted by [redacted], dated February 22, 2016. Pursuant to our conversation with Ms. [redacted], we have reassured her that reminder notices are sent 30 days after the due date.  She has requested that we use...

dividends on her policy to repay the outstanding loan balance so that she will accrue no further interest.  Ms. [redacted] will receive a transaction statement once completed. We will also be mailing her a form to update a Secondary Addressee Option she has where reminder notices would be sent to a family member, once a premium payment is not made after the grace period. Ms. [redacted] seemed satisfied after our conversation.  She has my direct contact number if she has any further questions. Sincerely,[redacted]

Mr. [redacted] is a participant in a qualified retirement plan. John Hancock is the record keeper for the retirement plan which is governed under [redacted].  Mr [redacted] had taken a Hardship withdrawal on 2/9/17 and a second hardship withdrawal on 3/30/17. At that point the participant had taken...

the maximum hardship withdrawal amount allowed from his account because the remaining account balance after the second Hardship was pre-tax earnings and those earnings are not legally eligible for hardship withdrawals.   Mr. [redacted] applied for a third hardship on 8/12 but only had a hardship eligible amount of $641.18 at the time of processing since the remainder of his account was earnings which are not eligible.

We have spoken with Mr. [redacted] to address his concerns and he was satisfied with our resolution.

Let me approach this from a different direction.  If I would have needed this policy during the last 3 months, it would not have been covered, correct?  However, your solution is that if I pay all fees accrued during the period of non-coverage you'd reinstate the policy.  Now does that seem fair?  Making me pay for something I didn't get? Furthermore, does it seem fair that I have to waste hours of my time pointing out these obvious concerns to get you to do the right thing?    Lastly, I still have NO IDEA where to send the payment to get the policy reinstated.  My email response has fallen on deaf ears.   This is beyond bad customer service, it's negligent.  You've left me uncovered for over 3 months, and you want to bill me for it, too.  This problem was caused by you, and it need to be fixed by you.

[redacted]

I have reviewed the response submitted by John Hancock and after working with [redacted], a senior manager at John Hancock, have determined that his response does satisfy my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint...

#[redacted].   He has agreed to process the policy at the anniversary date due to our numerous attempts to contact John Hancock regarding this.  Mr. [redacted] stated that the check for the remaining amount was sent on Tuesday, May 26, 2015.  Hopefully we will be in receipt of that soon.   While getting a manager or anybody with knowledge of this policy was difficult and took an unreasonable amount of time, I am pleased with the final result.  It should not take a Revdex.com complaint to make a company respond, and I hope that they will improve their company structure and employee training so that others do not have such difficulty in the future.  Mr. [redacted] was very professional and worked with us to resolve this matter.  We are very appreciative of his help and diligence in resolving this.
Regards,
[redacted]
