Jack and Monte

Review: I contacted Jack and Monte for help regarding a 2010 VA state tax bill. **. [redacted] stated that in order to resolve the issue, he (or a colleague) would need to complete my 2010 VA state tax return and contact VA tax authorities to (1) abate the penalties and interest due from the bill and (2) request a cease on collection activities. **. [redacted] stated that for these services, the cost would be $250.The only service I received was the completion of my tax return. I ended up negotiating with VA authorities on the issues described above because Jack and Monte provided incorrect information on the Power of Attorney process, which would have allowed them to speak to VA on my behalf. Jack and Monte also had me gather unneeded documents throughout the process. It became apparent to me that the individuals working on my tax issue was not fully informed of VA tax matters. Because I did not receive all the services that I was guaranteed, and because I was very displeased with the overall experience, I challenged the $250 and requested a more reasonable amount in line with the service actually rendered. [redacted], the Jack and Monte employee handling my tax issue, threatened to get the company's lawyer involved. He and another J&M employee made false claims about what was and what not included in the services J&M said they would provide.Desired Settlement: I have sent Jack and Monte the $250 payment after recieving a threat of collection. I would like to negotiate a lesser amount - $150 for the work actually performed, therefore, a refund of $100.
