vehicle failed due to a Check Engine Light. The vehicle failed based on the State of [redacted] Emission Vehicle Inspection procedures. Ms. Walton failed to mention this in her complaint. I explained to her that if she wanted a diagnosis could be done at a fee of $92.50. I also let her know that she could have this done anywhere but she elected to have our shop do the diagnosis. The diagnosis showed that one side of the engine was misfiring and that we would reset the parameters and then drive the car in order to  attempt to duplicate the issue. Her vehicle was maybe driven 15 to 20 miles. Also we had given her a ride home and would have picked her up after we had a plan of action in place. Yes she  walked to the station and became very angry asking  why we were driving her car and who gave us permission to. I explain to her that vehicle technicians need to drive the vehicles in order first help in the diagnosis and check for any driving abnormalities. Yes a mistake was made in the inputting of her vehicle in the VID but that would not have changed the fail on the vehicle. The diagnosis was done based on the vehicles VIN which has nothing to do with the Inspection. We did reset the parameters and asked her to drive the car about 80 to 100 miles in order to have a complete reset of parameters since this is the only way to reset and bring it back for re evaluation. I guess she drove it and took it somewhere else and had the inspection done and then came over to our shop yelling that she wanted to get her money back. I told her that I would refund the inspection since I had made a human error but the diagnosis could not be refunded at which she called the Police and sat in our office with her mother until they arrived. No one threatened her or spoke to her in a manner that showed lack respect to even state that I had an other woman in the office at that time. Yes one of my attorneys was in the shop getting his car repaired and he just sat there and listened to the  whole drama. The police did come and after speaking to them did I give her back her inspection fee because I wanted them to witness the transaction. I also explained to them about the Diagnosis fee to which they agreed and I guess told her to go her own way and she left. Now to the personal attack on my family is unwarranted. I come from a family of Combat  Veterans of many Wars and Conflicts and her comments really hurt not only me but all those who have or  our still fighting for our freedom as Americans and it is truly sad to hear such comments come from a veteran.  Please feel free to contact me if any more information is needed.
