Jack Safro Ford Reviews (4)

I was very disappointed with my experience Wednesday. I scheduled an appointment for a recall inspection. I drove my car to a local coffee shop at 8am, left there at 10:30am to drive to Jack Safro Ford and parked my car outside the Service department. The service rep took my key and drove my car into the service garage. I signed the paperwork and went to the waiting room. A few minutes passed and a Service Dept. rep came to the waiting room, asking me if I had been having trouble starting my car. I replied no. He said my car wouldn't start and my battery was dead. I explained I had not trouble all morning and in fact his employee just pulled the car into the service garage. He said they would jump it and get into a stall and test it.
He later came back to inform me that indeed the battery was bad and they could replace it for $180 installed. I thought that was expensive and called a family member to ask for their advice and it was suggested I go to a local auto supply store where they will test the battery, and install it for free if needed. I asked the Safro Ford rep to leave my car running when they were done so I could drive it to the auto store.
When the recall inspection was done, he came to let me know it was done. He did not inform me of the result of the recall inspection. I had to read that on the paperwork the cashier gave me. I got my key and found my car outside, turned off. I got in and it started. I drove home, turned it off in my garage and restarted it. Later that day I drove to the local auto store and had them test the battery. Their test concluded the battery was good. I then drove to church. After church I drove to another location and then home.
I have not experienced any trouble with my car starting.
So, why was I told my battery was bad/dead? [redacted].
Extremely disappointed in what I considered my hometown dealership! My family has purchased 3 vehicles here, but will now need to go elsewhere.

Review: I purchased a 2007 Ford Explorer from Jack Safro Ford on Saturday, March 22nd. I bought the vehicle used and just wanted any kind of reassurance that if anything were to go wrong within a couple days of purchase, the dealer would assist me in fixing it. Throughout the paper work, the dealer told me that I would have 30 days if anything were to happen, they would fix it for me. But the salesman and the business manager kept telling me "We are a local, family owned business. We have been here for years and you can trust us. If anything goes wrong with the vehicle, of course we will take care of it."

On Monday, March 24th, I noticed there was coolant leaking from the car. So I took it to a local Ford dealer to get it looked at since Jack Safro Ford is located about 1.5 hours from where I live. It turns out the thermostat housing was defective and needed to be replaced. I called the sales person that helped me out with buying the car at Jack Safro Ford and he told me he would talk to his Manager and get back to me. He never called me back so I called him again on Wednesday March 26th. He once again told me that he did nit hear back from his service department on the actual cost and labor of the thermostat housing.

The sales person refused to call me back all of that week and when I finally got in contact with him. He told me that would not cover the cost of replacing the thermostat housing. They said they would cover have of the cost if I covered the other half. The drive for me would have been 1.5 hours each way and I would be required to take a day of from work to drive down there. I also feared to go back to Jack Safro Ford because I did not feel comfortable dealing with them after being given untruthful information. The coolant started leaking less than 48 hours after I purchased the vehicle.

The local Ford dealer ([redacted]) informed me that the issue with the coolant leaking was already existing the the vehicle before I purchased it. I took it to [redacted] to replace the thermostat housing because I could not afford to take off a whole day from work and I was afraid to go back to Safro Ford.

I am not certain if I was taken advantage of because I live so far away from the dealer and they knew I could not go through the trouble of driving all the way back.

The total cost of the repair was $458.88.Desired Settlement: I would just like them to refund me for the cost of $458.88 that it cost to replace the thermostat housing because it was already an existing issue which I was not informed of. They also stated they would take care of any repairs if there were to be any so close after buying the vehicle.

Response:

In response to [redacted]’s contact, we wish to express our apology for the situation. The fact that the coolant leak was not found during the safety inspection could be that it was considered “normal seepage” on a vehicle with 140,000 miles.

My 20 year old took his truck for help as it was running bad and he had tried the local garage and no luck so took it to the dealership thinking they would help. He wrote what he thought it could be but missed marking the diagnostic box. They reprogrammed it put in 2 new batteries told him it ran fine charged him over $500 and it runs worse. They told him there was nothing they could do since he didn't mark the box for diagnosis, lame excuse for taking advantage of a young person.

Review: I have a issue with my refinanceing at jack safro ford of oconomowoc, wi.They refinanced me through USbank, but safro did not send my paper work to them for three months.[redacted] Philip L[redacted] called John G[redacted] at safro to get this right, but John G[redacted] hung up on him, classy move! So USbank is charging me $178.00 in late fees.Desired Settlement: I would like my $178.00 in late fees refunded to me and my credit score fixed.

Response:

The processing of the paperwork was in fact delayed due to a change in personnel. Mr. G[redacted] was not the originating Finance Manager on the refinancing paperwork and the previous Manager had not submitted the paperwork for processing. We offer these details as an explanation and not as an excuse. We regret the error and are committed to working with US Bank to rectify any adverse reporting to Mr. [redacted]s credit score due to the delay. In addition, we will be issuing a refund check payable to Mr. [redacted] for the $178.00 charged for late fees.
