I was quoted two quotes to rebuild my vintage bicycle from frame. I received two quotes by phone and voice mail. One was in the $300 dollar range and one was in the $400 dollar range. These both were quoted for parts and labor using all his parts. I responded with it will be less money if I provide some correct original parts. He responded with yes. After I provided the correct 1992 bottom bracket and fork and derailers, seat and brakes. The employee stated time was not an issue. Then it was and he was pressured to get it done. One rim I provided came cracked and I agreed to use his.
He didn't use my correct seat provided. And kept that and the correct bottom bracket that was provided. I had to return and retrieve the two bottom brackets I already had him install the seat I provided. He now raised the price to $536.00. The quotes he showed me were including 100% his parts except the frame. I provided the fork the brakes the shifters and derailers, bottom bracket and cranks and pedals. All correct vintage parts. Viewing the two quotes and confirming that it would be less money because I provided so many parts, is why I was over charged $150-$200 dollars. $200 for labor is alot $100-$150 is alot for the few parts they provided. The handle bar screws were striped and rusted and they refused to assist with. They promised high quality rims and won't warp easy and that wasn't the case either. They lied about the shifters needing rebuilding also.I was trying to contain my blood pressure and didn't engage in any verbal disputes at the place of business. Soon after showing photos to my supplier of the bottom bracket he confirmed they didn't install the correct one provided
I wrote a letter to this person who claims he is a non profit organization. No response.

I have reviewed the complaint and discussed it with all of my staff. All of my staff had a hand in working on the bike in question as the parts that were supposed to have been purchased from an expert were wrong. None of these allegations are true.
Jack the Bike Man has a totally clean history of caring for customers and doing more than is expected of us.
It is a shame that Mr *** is going after the wrong person in this complaint. It should be against the person selling him the incorrect parts. He refuses to let us show him how those parts were wrong. I feel sorry for him that he is holding so much trust in the wrong person. My Mechanics are Trained Certified Bicycle Mechanics with many years of experience.
I am issuing our check number XXXXXX in the amount of $573.56 which is exactly what he paid to us. It is impossible to be half wrong so I am paying him back every penny that he paid to us. I suggest that he be informed that he had better not continue making accusations like this about our Great Charity. This money he is taking away from us could have been used to help some of the over 4,000 youth each year for their bicycle needs.
