Storage upon rental. Only the tenant has access to the unit. We take pride in our customer service and the fact that around 40% of our approximately 400 rentals per year are to current tenants, prior tenants and referrals. We occasionally have a customer come to us and indicate that they have evidence of droppings in their unit which appears to be from a mouse or rat. Every effort is made to assist the customer in eradicating the problem and we check with the surrounding tenants to see if they have had any issues. Although we warn customers against storing food sources in their unit, sometimes that advice goes unheeded. We are naturally disheartened by and sorry for our customer's loss, and although we will make every attempt to determine its cause, we do not feel at this point in our investigation that we were negligent in our efforts to prevent rodents from entering the customer's unit. We have no control over the interior of the unit once the customer locks the unit.
