I called Jackson Auto Upholstery to see if they could replace the interior of my 1981 Corvette. I spoke with David B[redacted] and he said he could replace the interior. He said he had just finished replacing the interior of another Corvette. When I dropped off my 1981 Corvette, I was told by David that they can replace the interior in one week, two weeks at the most.Every time David about the car, he was short with his answer. I bought a period correct radio for the car. When I dropped it off at the shop, David and some of his employees were stage around the car, on their knees like they were working on the car. These all young people. I was there for a short time and nobody touched a thing on the inside of the car. I knew this was a shady bunch when they done that. The sad thing is that David is teaching these young people to be dishonest. Seven weeks later I pick up my car. I think the only reason why I was able to pick up my car then was, my next job was out of town and I told David I had to pick up my car that week.I bought of all of interior parts for my 1981 Corvette, except for a that Jackson Auto Upholstery provided. I have all of the receipts to prove it. The first thing I saw was the seats. They looked terrible. The leather seat covers were not installed properly. It is amazing what you can find out on the internet these days. I gave David new corvette seat foam, new seat covers. and a new seat cover installation kit They did not use any of the wires that were in the kit. The wires are what you use to pull the seat covers tight. I gave them the acorn chrome cover nuts for seat hinges and they stole they them. They didn't put them on my seat hinges. I turned on the new period correct radio and it didn't work. I ask David what is wrong with the radio. He said, what do you mean? I ask him if any anyone had turned on the radio to see if it worked or how it sounded, and he said no. I don't know anyone on this planet that installs anything, and does not turn it on to see if it sounds orDesired SettlementI am sorry that ran out of space on my complaint description. There is a lot more wrong with car.I just wont people to know that this place is a chop shop not a upholstery shop. If need any more information Please call me. Business Response Our company strives for customer satisfaction. Anytime we have a complaint we ALWAYS go above and beyond to fix the problem to the customer's satisfaction, even if it's at our expense. The complaint in question is coming from a job that we completed over a year ago. This customer provided their own materials, some of which were not the right pieces for the job. We offer a one year warranty on any labor in our shop, and we offer a one year warranty on any parts that we supply, we do not stand behind parts that a customer supplies. If a radio wasn't working, the customer would need to take that up with whoever he purchased it from. We do not sell radios here, and that is not a normal part of the services we offer. We were installing a piece to fit the dash per the customer's request. The customer mentioned strips that didn't get used for his seats; the reason was it was the wrong strips for the job - we actually used supplies of our own at no additional cost to him. I cannot answer If any of the problems mentioned would have been brought back to us at any time in the 12 months following the job, we would have worked with the customer to fix everything to his satisfaction. Another thing the complainant mentioned was watching people stand around his car. We do not allow customer's into our shop area, so if he came in employees were probably trying to figure out who was in there and why because he would have had to walk past a sign that said "employees only - no customer's beyond this point". Sadly, I don't believe it's a coincidence that this customer has waited to complain; we recently had an employee leave. It has come to our attention that the customer complaining here is a friend of the employee's brother. I can assure you that we are a reputable business, and the fact that the complainant has called us a "chop shop" is an insult. We run an honest upholstery business, and would never do anything that would classify us as a dishonest business.
