I called the person who complained about our service. We spoke briefly and I told her that I would look into the matter. I did some further research and found out that it is the State of Delaware that has audited her. NOT for the work that we did but for the fact that she has
been running a business in the state without a business license and has never shown a profit. Each year is a huge loss. The state followed the IRS rules for hobby income and decided that she wasn't engaged in this business to make a profit, therefore, they disallowed her losses which then changed her itemizing. They originally contacted her in February of about sending in original receipts for her schedule C business and for her schedule A itemizing. She did not do this. I am not sure but she may have come into our office and asked us to fax the receipts and we said that there were too many for us to send. She could have mailed them in at any time. She received several letters from the state of Delaware that she did not respond to. What she has complained about to you regarding our service is not correct. We try our best to provide good customer service to anyone who comes to us. I am sure that we fail sometimes, but don't feel that we did in this case. If there are any further comments or questions, please feel free to contact us.I would like to correct the address that you have for us. The correct one is:

FYI-Jackson Hewitt does not do fraud. The date issued on the check was a computer error. In addition, a representative from Jackson Hewitt was working with the client to resolved the issue. The representative spoke with the bank affiliated with Jackson Hewitt Tax Service along with the clients bank....

The representative had made every effort to resolved the matter and YES the case was settled. The client bank stated that Jackson Hewitt Bank sent the information they needed and the check was cleared by the client bank in August. We truly did apologize for the inconvenience.WE'RE ALL HUMAN, AREN'T WE?

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]
That i s totally untrue.  Until I contacted the Revdex.com I would have never heard from them.  I went as far as to contact a office in New Jersey who never contacted me back.  I did all I could to make contact with them.  First I was told that [redacted] did not any longer work for them.  And the other night they called my home and my husband told me that they said my returns were at the [redacted] office on [redacted] in [redacted].  I have not yet gone to [redacted] for I have been under the weather.  And yes  Ipaid for my return when they did my Federal returns in December of 2014.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.
Sincerely,

I appreciate that Ms [redacted] has problems.  However, these problems were not created by my office.  They are because of her issues directly with the State of Delaware.  If she would please contact, [redacted] at the Division of Revenue, he would explain all this to her.  We did not make any mistakes on her return and I do not appreciate her continuing to state that we did.  We always go out of our way to provide great customer service to our clients.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

As a long-time customer of Jackson Hewitt I am very disappointed in the response and actions. I disagree with their response.  I have made every effort to work with their office and staff on [redacted] , along with DE state department of revenue. The time and money I spent to correct this issue has been a stressful and major headache.  The Awful truth that people have no morals and can conduct  business in this manner. I have spent many of hours trying to resolve this issue and correct this for some time now.
Currently I am working directly with the Delaware State Revenue Department to resolve this issue. Below is an outline of issues and resolutions. I am still pursuing a full refund due to poor service, errors false advertisement and  breach of contract.
Year 2010 Tax filed : federal, DE state , NY state services provided by JH
·       Audit by DE state request for hardcopies of
Scheduled A, itemize sheet, and receipt
Requested to provide was not completed by preparer
DE state made contact with me
Lost time work making office visit to JH
  Numerous phone calls
   Documents Submitted myself  – pending
Year 2011 Tax filed: federal, DE state, NY state- services provided by JH
Audit DE state request hardcopies of Schedule A, Item sheet, NY state filing
            Documents submitted myself via mail.
Amendment needed due to typo and missed entries on forms- JH
Amended federal, DE state , NY state myself
            Owe DE $$$.$$ (over 600.00)
Lost additional money on return due to error and time limits-JH
I have since used other tax services and self prepared. I  have not had a problem, and have been working with the state to repair incorrect my 2010 and 2011 return.
In addition I have received a call from Jackson Hewitt back and March 2016 with a request to set up an appointment to prepare my taxes for 2015 I spoke to a woman letting her know I was very unsatisfied with their services for the past few years I was also awaiting a phone call a letter some kind of response to my issues for being an addict by the state of Delaware she told me she would pass along my message and someone should get back to me shortly.  The first call back I got was as of last week now it’s September 2016 .
As stated I am currently working with Delaware State Department of Revenue I do not want Jackson Hewitt involved with my taxes.  At this point it is more of a headache they are causing more confusion I am the taxpayer it is my responsibility as I was told and I will resolve this issue onmy own things are working out well matter of fact

[redacted] completed her tax return with us on 2/1/15. At that time she signed she was aware of fees being charged.  The client received her refund via direct deposit on or about 2/10/15. On 2/11/15 the client came in to our Mill Avenue location where her return was rechecked and was offered...

a free amendment if done incorrectly.  However, we could not see an issue for the amendment.  Based on the information that the client provided, her return was done correct.  We also informed her, as we do all customers, that if the IRS sends her a letter concerning her return that she needed to bring it in to us to resolve the issue.

Review: On November **,2015, I contacted the number on back of the Jackson H[redacted] prepaid card I have because I wanted to discuss a balance discrepancy. I called ###-###-#### just to find out everything was automated and no one live to talk to and my call was disconnected. I tried to call later when I got home and found that I lost my card. I could not find it after retracing my steps. I called the number again ,as it was stored in my phone to report it lost. But again no live person. Only this time I could not report it lost because the information did not match and again was disconnected. The next day I got the number to a Jackson H[redacted] customer service , after three failed attempts at trying to reach the office. The office I usually go to is in a walmart and is seasonal, so they told me to contact the gerard avenue office.(the customer service number is ###-###-####) however a supervisor at this number told me that they no longer deal with the bank that holds this card But would contact them to reimburse the $80.00 on the card. In the meantime , two weeks later, no one has contacted me, or reimbursed me and someone is running around with my personal information and there is still no live representative to speak towhen I call the number on the card.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund and an apology from the company for mishandling the situation

Review: For the tax years ended December **, 2010 and December **, 2011, I paid Jackson Hewitt Tax Services in Dorchester, MA to provide tax preparation services. The employee, [redacted] had placed fraudulent education credits on both of my tax returns. On June **, 2012, I was notified by the IRS indicating that they have corrected my 2010 tax return reversing the education credits and are seeking repayment in the amount of $2,610.00. Because this error was on my 2010 tax return, I had another tax preparer take a second look on my 2011 tax return at which time I was placed on notice that another education credit that I was not entitled to was placed on my tax returns. As a result of my amendment of my 2011 Tax Return, the IRS is seeking repayment in the amount of $742.06 as of May **, 2013. At the time of service, I did not provide [redacted] with a 1098-T from my financial institution because the financial institutions never provided my with a 1098-T for each year. My education for both years were paid for by means of financial aid grants, therefore I did not incur any out of pocket expenses. On February **, 2013, I called Customer Service at Jackson Hewitt (###-###-####) to initiate a complaint. On March **, 2013, I walked into the Jackson Hewitt Year-Round location in [redacted] to speak with the manager. I provided the manager with a letter and supporting documents in support of my claim and she then forwarded those documents to her regional office located in [redacted]. On June **, 2013, I called back into Customer Service at Jackson Hewitt (###-###-####) to advise them that I had not received a response in regards to my letter of March **, 2013. I then received a phone call from the manager at the Year-Round office in [redacted] who then conversed with the Head Office in [redacted] and told me to call them and ask for [redacted]. I called [redacted] and she instructed me to file all the documents I had in support of my claim and fax them to her at ###-###-####. On July **, 2013, I faxed the documents over to [redacted]. On July **, 2013, I called the Jackson Hewitt office in [redacted] at ###-###-#### and asked for [redacted] and was notified that she was on vacation. I spoke with [redacted] who indicated his title to be "Director of Operations" and asked him if they received my fax of July **, 2013. He searched through his system and was able to find my fax. I told [redacted] that I had been waiting for a response in regards to my issue with the IRS and he said that he will personally look at the matter and will need 14 business days to come to a conclusion. On August **, 2013, I called the Jackson Hewitt office in [redacted] as I had not heard from [redacted] indicated to me that he is waiting for additional information from the [redacted] office and will need an additional 14 business days to conclude is investigation. On August **, 2013, I received a letter from [redacted] indicating my misunderstanding in the letter that I received from the IRS, and thanking me for bringing this matter to his attention, as well as referring me to file a complaint with the IRS (Form 14157: Tax Preparer Complaint). [redacted] has offered no resolution to satisfy this outstanding matter by repaying the IRS for the money they are seeking repayment for as well as all penalties and interest. [redacted] is being oblivious to my concerns and has not accepted responsibility of his employee's actions that have severely damaged my relationship with the IRS.Desired Settlement: I would like Jackson Hewitt, [redacted] to accept full responsibility of their employee's actions and reverse the activity that was done for the tax years ended December **, 2010 and December **, 2011. I would like Jackson Hewitt to refund me all fees that were paid for both tax returns as well as to satisfy the outstanding debt with the IRS.

Response:

I am currently investigating the complaint, due to the fact that complainant has indicated to us that our prior employee included certain tax credits, that resulted in her receiving monies she was not entitled to, without her knowledge or consent for 2 consecutive years.

Since these allegations can result in legal implications, I must be fair to all parties involved and give the tax preparer [redacted] the opportunity to explain her actions. I have attempted to contact [redacted], but since she has not worked with us in over a year I may not have the most current contact information. I am reserving the right to take up to 90 days from receipt of Revdex.com notice #[redacted] to properly investigate said allegations.

Also, I have verbally advise complainant that it is her responsibility to comply with the IRS notice she received and begin repayment to IRS regardless of our final conclusion to avoid additional penalties.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

As I indicated to Jackson Hewitt and its employees (corporate and locally), this issue has been open since February **, 2013. Jackson Hewitt has had the appropriate time to investigate this matter and has failed to do so by being oblivious to my concerns. As I indicated to Mr. [redacted], I have acknoweldged my obligation to repay the IRS until this matter comes to a conclusion and had further reiterated that to him on several occassions. I think it is best for Mr. [redacted] to focus on the nature of this investigation to not advise the complainant on what they need to do as a consumer as the complainant is well aware of their rights and responsibilities. In my correspondence dated August **, 2013 (copy attached), Mr. [redacted] indicated that he would need an additional 14 days to investigate this matter which included an additional 14 days from July **, 2013 when I called the Bronx, NY office to follow up on the status of the investigation. I am asking that all parties from Jackson Hewitt to expedite their investigation in a timely fashion or within the time period they are entitled to with respect to complaint ID #[redacted] with the Revdex.com.

Sincerely,

Business

Response:

[redacted]: After review of documents, personnel inquiries and consideration for both our clients and our business, we have determined the following.

Based on the fact that the complainant has JH receipt given to all customers along with all required documents upon completion of tax return. And this receipt clearly indicates the Education Credit was calculated in the tax return, this receipt also indicates cost of services for which she also is requesting restitution in addition to wanting us to pay her taxes.

Another consideration in our decision was that in conversation with [redacted] complainant was asked why would a preparer include an item that benefits the taxpayer without asking for compensation, and the reply was that her refund was to low. We proceeded to compare refund amounts for both years excluding the Educational Credit, and found that for tax year 2010 the complainant would have received a refund of $347.00 and for tax year 2011 the tax liability would have been ($931).

We at Jackson Hewitt are of the opinion that complainant was aware of having received these credits of which she is now responsible of paying back to IRS.

Our final decision is that Jackson Hewitt Tax Service will not make any restitution of disputed amount or purchase price.

Sincerely,

Review: I had Jackson Hewitt file my federal and state tax forms , one in December (federal) and one e-mailed to them on January **, 2015. They have held on to my taxes since April of 2014 and I have not be able to get the original forms back. When I called they said that they were filed and I should allow 2 weeks for them to retrieve them. I waited, waited and waited and nothing. I in turn go another copy of the returns and e-mailed them to their office. According to someone that answers the phone the young lady ([redacted]) no longer works for them. I asked them how can I get them done and was told someone would get back to me. To date no one has called or sent me any information as to where the returns. I paid them $400 back in December and told them as soon as I got the copies from the state I would e-mail them. [redacted] called me and told me that she received them and that she should have them done within a week. To date no return, [redacted] not working there and I don't have the product that I paid for. Today I made contact with [redacted] that told me she would look for them because she filed all the returns that [redacted] had left behind and that she was with a client and I should call her back @6 p.m. this evening. I will make this call @ 6 p.m. in hopes that this issue is resolved. I need to either get my monies refunded and/or my paper information relating to filing returned to me so that I may proceed to another tax preparer. I have all necessary contact information that I made via e-mail and the phone call that I made to their supposed Corporate Headquarters in [redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like my refund for payment that I made to prepare my returns as well as all necessary documents completed and filed.

Review: On 2/*/15 I filed my income tax with Jackson Hewitt. During my filing the Jackson Hewitt representative filed an incomplete address, she did not include my apartment number. The IRS sent a letter expecting a response from me but I never got the to verify my information which caused my income tax to be halted. After three visits to the IRS office and many telephone conversations with the IRS, finally on 8/**/15 I was given my refund check. That same day I deposited that check into my bank institute [redacted] On 8/**/15 I returned to my bank to inquire about the deposit and was given the very unfortunate news that the check that was issued to me from Jackson Hewitt was dated 9/2006 and was unable to be validated. Since 8/20 I have been trying get this situation clarified with Jackson Hewitt but have failed. My bank institute, [redacted] stated that they have been waiting to get clearance from Jackson Hewitt's bank called citizens bank but no one has reached out to my bank institute at all. At this point I am frustrated and am under the impression that the Jackson Hewitt on [redacted] in the Bronx is involved in illegal negotiations of some sort. I do not understand how a check issued in 2006 can be reissued today in 2015. If you can please assist me in this matter. it's been 6months since I have filed and Jackson Hewitt is not complying with me and instead I am given many different telephone numbers for my assistance but no avail.Desired Settlement: I am hoping to get my refund check and for the Jackson Hewitt office on [redacted] in the Bronx to be put into investigation for fraud.

Review: I Jamel Johnson filed my taxes with jackson Hewitt on jan.**.15. the tax preparer [redacted] never used my two w-2 forms from two different jobs. I requested a check and they deposited my federal check into a unknown account and made me a separate check federal said 2,459 they gave me a check from I citizen bank for the amount of 1,935 and after the check cash took out taxes it was less then that. that was illegal per the IRS.and the POLICE. I Also filed for my son ,which I did not receive any credit at all for him. and I provided 1099MISC. reporting income of 16,310 my refund was made less then what I was suppose to get, and I was charged 600$ for fees even after they were paid their fee amount before calculating my refund amount I'm also being audit and I never received my state check.Desired Settlement: I Want My 600$ dollars back that was stolen out of my federal check they can put it on my Jackson Hewitt card. I want my taxes amended my federal and state I have filed a complaint with jackson Hewitt. complaint #[redacted] and I also filed a complaint with the IRS on March *,2015 at 3:43pm the complaint # is [redacted]

Review: I had to file my 2012 federal & state income tax a total of three times because of their incompetence. When I called the IRS on 2014 they said that I had not filed yet & that there was nothing on file. I called back twice just to make sure. I have contacted Jackson Hewitt many times they were not helpful whatsoever. I took it upon myself to file with another tax professional. I spoke to a [redacted] the [redacted] I told her that I had filed with someone else & I wanted to be reimbursed for the tax preparation fees because they did not provide me with the service I paid them to do, [redacted] asked me to fax my receipt . I have already faxed them the receipt. When I called back to make sure they received my fax they said Corporate will contact me, but they never have. Today I called corporate & the customer service rep. advised me to call [redacted]. I explained to her that [redacted] said only corporate can help me now, she did not listen or was being helpful at all. When I finally gave up on her services. I took down [redacted] number that she provided me with, but when I called that number it is not in service.Desired Settlement: I am requesting that Jackson Hewitt reimburse me for the tax preparation fees for the amount of $ 114.00 that I paid them on 4/**/13.

Review: I was billed $459 for my tax preparation, the usual pricing is $200-$220 for services, I was charged for 2 returns instead of one. The company also advertised $750 cash advance to people who come and do their returns with them. The cash advance was only for $600, what happened to the other $150? Was it applied to the outstanding $459 fee that I was charged for? Nothing was explained before the return was done, there were no choices given, the advertisement was false and misleading.Desired Settlement: I want to be charged accordingly, for the fees to reflect one processing fee. I want the advance payment to be as advertised on commercial, websites and postcard mail that is sent to consumers homes.
