Jacob's Tree Worx Reviews (3)

Review: My neighbor hired Jacobs Tree Worx to top some trees on his property, well they ended up cutting several trees on my property also. They left several large limbs in my yard and a significant amount of debris on my patio. As they were cutting the trees, the limbs fell on my patio next to my house. I contacted Richard Jacobs to let him know that several limbs fell on my property and they needed to be removed. He replied that they would be back the following week to clean up the limbs and debris. It has been two weeks and they still have not returned, even after several phone calls and several promises to return, the limbs and debris are still in my yardDesired Settlement: I want to document the issues with this company and hopefully other consumers will be able to make an informed decision on whether to hire Jacobs Tree Worx

Response:

Mr. Jacobs stated he will go back to Mr. [redacted]'s yard to see what debris was left and to remove it. He will be there around noon Wednesday, May 14.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Jacobs Tree worx did some work for my neighbor and left appx 9 large limbs and multiple smaller branches on my property, they basically cut the trees and let the limbs fall on my property without cleaning them up. After two weeks of trying to have Jacobs tree worx return to remove the limbs. promising to return and then never showing up, with my grass dying underneath the limbs, I cleaned up the debris myself. I cut up nine limbs with a chain saw, and filled 14 large garbage bags with debris and hauled it to the curb. it took a good part of the day to complete. Jacobs Tree work offering to return 5 weeks later is too little, too late and a bit insulting. I wanted to alert other consumers that if Jacobs Tree Worx if performing work for you or your neighbor, check to ensure all debris is removed because they will not return, unfortunately, I was not at home and when I returned I was faced with the mess they left in my yard.

Regards,

Review: Hired company, many months ago, to remove several trees and grind stumps. Once trees were removed, was told they would return to grind stumps on grinding day. They never returned. I left many unreturned messages requesting a return call to discuss stump grindings as previously discussed. When I was finally able to reach the owner, Richard Jacobs, he was VERY rude and curt and accused me of lying, saying there was never an agreement to grind stumps. We would have never agreed to have him remove the trees without having the stumps removed as we are replacing the trees and he and I discussed options for tree replacement. He is a poor businessman with no ethics.Desired Settlement: Anyone doing business with this company needs to beware - get a DETAILED written estimate & contract as they will not honor services that were paid for that were entered into by verbal agreement. I would NOT recommend this company!

In response to complaint #[redacted], we performed tree work for this customer many months ago as she asked us to do while we were doing a job for her next door neighbor. After completing the tree work the customer paid me for services rendered. AFTER receiving payment, I told her and her husband that if they wanted to have the stumps removed later on that I would charge them only $125 per stump for a total of $250. About 3 months later she called and asked me to grind the stumps, and as I was putting her on the schedule I tried to confirm with her that the price I had given her for the stump removal was $125 per stump for a total of $250. She stated that this service had been paid for and was included in the price of the tree work. I explained to her that it was NOT included and that we never charged up front for stump grinding as we did not even have a stump grinder on the jobsite. She stated that she did not want to pay for the stump removal and I told her that I could not do it for free and that if she changed her mind to give me a call. A few days later her neighbor that we originally did some work for called and said she had come to him about the stumps and that she should not have to pay for the removal. He asked me to grind the stumps and he would pay me for my services. I told him that I didn't feel right doing that. Mrs [redacted] called a few more times for me to grind the stumps and each time I told her that I would as long as she paid for the services which she would not agree to do. I tried everything possible to explain that the stump removal is separate from tree work but with no success. In order to resolve this issue I did grind the stumps for her at NO CHARGE and in the future I will make sure to put all work in writing.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

Regards,

Jacob's came to my house, we met, discussed the job and agreed upon service. It was clearly identified that they were to stay off my front yard due to the newly installed septic system and drain field. Additionally, there was to be limited wear and tear to my yard. The day Jacob's reported to duty they drove a skid loader and truck pulling a chipper over my front yard after being told to stay off the front yard. They cut down the wrong tree and insisted it was my fault and wanted $900 payment for their mistake. They removed a young 5' red maple tree my dad grew from a seedling stating they wanted to protect it and would put it back. The tree is currently experiencing shock and I am not sure it will make it. By the grace of God I stopped them just before they were about to cut down a healthy blue spruce my kids and I planted as a live Christmas tree a few years back. They totally destroyed my back yard and part of the front with the skid loader (never put down plywood or any other materials to protect the yard). The owner argued with me for over 30 minutes insisting he get paid for the tree they took down stating it was not fair he had to "eat $900". Needless to say they were fired immediately. Upon calling around for additional quotes I spoke with another tree company and was informed Jacob's had destroyed another customer's yard that same week. I strongly suggest you do not use Jacob's because they talk a good talk but do not provide professional service.
