We are in receipt of your
letter of February 26,
with a complaint about a product purchased from our store in Oshkosh,
Wisconsin. In summary, the customer who filed the
complaint made a call to our store after they had found out that the item they
purchased did not fit. Additionally and
unfortunately, they had removed the tags from the product.
Our Exchange policy is posted
in our store, on our receipts and verbally explained to all customers who
purchase items from us. It is as
follows: All items purchased are on an exchange only basis. Exchanges must be made within days of
purchase. Merchandise and shoes must be
unworn with tags attached and accompanied with the original receipt. There are no refunds. We require all customers to sign the receipt acknowledging
our policy.
Our products are normally
worn by healthcare professionals. If
tags are detached and if the product is worn in a work environment, the product
is open to possible contamination from that environment. It would be impractical and unethical for our
company to try and resell these products to another customer if they are worn
in a work environment. Having the tags
detached might lend one to think that the product could have been worn. Whether it was or not cannot be determined
and thus why we require that tags still be attached to products purchased at
our stores. We must protect the
integrity of our products sold in the stores and thus the reason for our
policy.
Customer acknowledged that
they removed the tags on the phone call and in the letter to you. Also, upon reaching the store, there were no
physical tags presented to our sales associate.
Under the circumstances, if
there was any miscommunication, we are sorry that the customer made the trip to
our store to exchange their item. In
order to rectify this situation for our customer, we would be willing to have
the customer mail this one item to our Oshkosh
store presuming they have and will send with it the tags and receipt verifying
purchase. If all of these items are
presented to us, in this circumstance only, we will offer to exchange their
item for the correct size and mail it back to them. This new item will be purchased subject to
our exchange policy as well
