James Plumbing Reviews (13)

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. Most of the floor certainly does look betterhowever as you saw in the pictures a number of spots do notis it possible to sand just on those areas again, apply stain, then reseal? Regards, [redacted]

Hello, CPR Flooring Company was hired to lightly scuff the existing floor and apply a new coat of polyurethaneThis process is done to help eliminate any light surface scratches, but will not remove stains, deep gouges, major imperfections or flatten uneven surfacesThe customer was absolutely made aware of this before the start of the jobWe did not install the existing pre-finished flooring in the customers home nor did we stain the floorIt is not possible to match the color of a pre-finished floor to stainAlso, there really isn't anything that can be done to darken the places except a complete refinish which is sanding down to bare wood, staining and applying polyurethane The reason they are there is because the floor boards are very uneven with each other causing a high spot in relation to the others and a high wear area Stain will only stick to bare wood, so if it is applied it will wipe back offSo, returning to the customers home to stain "eye sores" would be senseless Thank you, Amber K***

It is not possible to stain over polyurethaneIt will wipe right back offThe end result was a vast improvement

This is one of the BEST plumbers we have found in the Westlake Village, CA area We are complementing the company for their excellent Customer Service, the quality of their worker Ryan who came to our home on schedule and completed the repair in less than the estimated time It is a real pleasure to find such a reliable company

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear belowyes, I am aware of what the job to be completed wasI noticed that they noted I was made aware of what they were to doThey were to sand the floor and apply a new coat. That was done, however my floor was ruined during that processPlease reference the pictures I includedThe sanding process stripped the color on multiple points on the floorthe polyurethane was covered over it. I should have been made aware of the sanding removing the finish on all these areas before the polyurethane was put back on. Stain could have been applied to those few areas then sealed
Don't get me wrong, most of my floor looks great, however there are a number of eye sore areas that catch everyone's attention as soon as they see it and ask "what happened there"
I am not trying to get my entire floor redone for freeput yourself in my shoes, how would you feel about this situation if this was your kitchen floor?
Regards,

Hello,
Let's get a few things straight First, there is repeated mention of grass clippings in the "stain" It is true that there were some pieces of grass in the first coat of polyurethane, however they were not there at the time of application and this was taken care of easily without the use of any "sanding machine" The floor was not "dented" by a sander As far as the color goes, it has been repeatedly stated that we used the exact color that was picked by the customer Looking at the before pictures, the floor was not a perfect match of anything in the house to begin with and as stated earlier, we were not aware of the attempt to "match" anything Not only did *** NOT do a poor job, we may decide to use the before and after pictures for our portfolio As far as Facebook, it was the comments that were defamatory, not the pictures We have a very strong and positive reputation and work ethic As stated in every correspondence, we are not liable or responsible for the color chosen by the customer and a refund will not be given
Thanks,*** ***

Hello,
*** is
incorrect on all of her statementsSee facts below
1) We
didn't have a few pieces of grass sealed into our floorWe stopped marking
them at What reputable company would seal over grass? I would think it
would be more productive to not get grass on the floor or to sweep before you
sealed
2) The
dent in our floor was caused by ***It wasn't there before he started sanding
3) As you
can see from the attached picture, my floors matched perfectly before we hired CPR Flooring
4) The
current floor is not the same color of the test stainIf *** wasn't aware
of this, then why would he add to the contract - "If after 10/the color is not right"-
admitting it was not the correct colorPlease see attached
This is my
last responseDue to their poor workmanship they, must need the money. I'll just
get a reputable company to fix my floor

Unfortunately, it is not possible to sand such a tiny spot without damaging the surrounding floor. Furthermore, the spot will always remain. The stain will never be a perfect match.

Hello.
On September 22, 2014 we were contracted to refinish the kitchen and family room in the customers home. Our service includes sanding the hardwood floor down to bare wood, applying a stain color of the customers choice and finally applying 3 coats of water-based polyurethane. A...

total of 3-4 stain samples were applied to the floor for review by the customer. No mention was ever made regarding the fact that the customer wanted the stain color to match other colors that existed in her house. The color that the customer chose was applied to her floor and 3 coats of polyurethane were applied to finish the job. After the job was completed the customer mentioned that she was not happy with the color of the floor. Occasionally a stain color can change slightly with more coats of polyurethane, so as a courtesy, a 4th coat of polyurethane was applied to the customers floor at no charge to try to appease the customer. I have included a copy of the original contract and as stated on there it says "If after 10/15/14 color is not right we will make a deal to sand, stain, finish". CPR Flooring Company does not chose the stain color that is applied to any customers floor. On 10/15/14 we were in contact directly with the customer and set a date of December 1, 2014 to come back to their residence.   Around December 1, 2014 the customer was notified that the deal to sand, stain and finish was going to be $1000, which is $410 less than the original price. It is not financially practical for us to change a stain color that the customer picked and unfortu[redacted]ly does not like. No promises were ever made that the stain would absolutely darken or that we would come back to "fix" anything. Due to the fact that we've completed everything that we were obligated to do in the signed contract, a refund will not be given.  Also, more recently the customer has taken to our social media page to defame our company in a libel manner and we may pur[redacted] pressing charges.

Thank you,
