I was in abdominal pain and called 911 for the Howell Emergency squad to take me to the nearest hospital of my choosing Centra State Medical Center. This was in July 2015. Howell arrived and took my vitals which were stable. Their report states that I was stable. En Route to the hospital Howell diverted to the White Castle parking lot on route 9 north. They waited there for over 20 minutes, while I endured pain from what was later diagnosed as a perforated and gangrenous appendix. During the first portion of the transport Howell techs informed me that Howell residents do not pay for this volunteer service.
The entire trip to the hospital is approximately 11 miles which would normally take 15 minutes. Due to the delay to wait for MONOC in that parking lot it took Howell 43 minutes to transport me to the hospital.
It must be noted that the report from MONOC claims that they transported me to the hospital from my home. The reports from Howell and MONOC both cannot be true. Howell also claims that there was no delay in my transport and yet they do not include the stop in the parking lot as an interruption in my transportation. Both services lied and their own reports are contradictory.
MONOC did administer an EKG but they did not inform me that this was additional above and beyond the free services Howell had stated I was receiving.
In essence, I was kidnapped, held hostage and reports regarding this event were falsified and contain major inconsistencies. Comparing signatures provided to me from that night show major differences. I was alone, without an advocate present and in debilitating pain. Proper medical procedure would have been to transport to a medical center ASAP, not spend 40 plus minutes in a parking lot for a total cost of $2370.00. I recognize a scam when I see it and this is it.
