J & B Home Improvements, Inc. contracted with this customer for roofing, siding, windows, cement and masonry work and doors (as a separate contract).  [redacted] was very rude and unprofessional with our workers and staff.  He did not allow our workers to utilize his bathroom...

during the day; he suggested that they should relive themselves in the dumpster outside the front of his home.  When the dumpster was gone he told the men to walk 3 blocks to the bar and leave money to use the facilities.  He was nasty and rude; we had over 22 crew members working at his home and all refused to return due to the working conditions and disrespectful treatment.  [redacted] was satisfied with his siding, roofing, windows and cement work done by J & B Home Improvements.  Our records indicate that [redacted] has an outstanding balance due of 2,500.  Once that balance has been satisfied, we will promptly return to the property to address his concerns.  We have satisfied the terms and conditions of his respective contract and expect that the balance to be paid in full.  [redacted] has doors on his home and should remit the balance accordingly.  Our door installer was "thrown out" of [redacted] home (on the day the doors were installed) and not given the opportunity to address his concerns.  J & B Home Improvements, Inc. is concerned that once the issues have been addressed, we will not be paid in full.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]First off it is not my responsibility to supply a bathroom to 22 workers. J and B should have supplied a portable toilet for them. When the work was being done my wife was home alone much of the time and I was not about to let 22 strange men into my home like it was an open house. Next, I had to stay on top of his men because when they failed to do  their work due to incompetence, I had to do it for them. When they first came to remove and replace the siding they left old siding hanging loosely from the top of the wall and began to install new siding on the bottom. After they left we had a rain and wind storm that was blowing the loose aluminum off the wall and banging against the new siding. The old siding was blowing into my neighbors yards so I had to go out in the storm, get on a ladder, and remove the old siding in the rain. My yard had old material strewn about in a haphazard manner that I had clean up....why should I have to clean up after their workers when I'm paying them to do so?! Next, new material was stored  in our backyard (wood, siding, etc) that was left uncovered from the elements. Again I had to do THEIR job and cover the supplies with a tarp so they didn't install damaged goods from the rain on my house. I had to place some of the wood in my basement also. Again, why did I have to do their job??? As far as being rude to the men, I helped them every way I could even supplying them with my own personal extension cords and some tools. I guess I was extremely rude when I supplied them with free cold drinks also. The door installer was very rude when I pointed out his poor installation. After pointing out the problems with the damaged door he installed poorly, he packed up his tools and left after I said I would not make payment until the job was completed properly. The owner jeff came by and after I pointed out the problems that he said were "legitimate complaints" and he said would be fixed, I haven't heard back from him in 3 months. I left many messages because I couldn't reach them except for one time when his wife said he would call me and nothing....no call. It looks to me that the owner only wants to be paid for doing a poor job and not resolve this issues. The only resolution I see is that the company do what it was contracted to do: INSTALL TWO DOORS, UNDAMAGED LIKE THE ONES I HAVE NOW, PROPERLY. And it wouldn't hurt if the owner Jeff would act professionally and contact me like he was supposed to and resolve this issue like he said he would, and stop playing games!!!!

Review: Prior to selecting J&B Home Improvements, Inc. the [redacted], assured me that he will do a great job, has done many houses in the area and will stand behind his work. His work was completed as promised but from the start there were issues with the installation. It took some time and many phone calls to get [redacted] to return to address the initial problem with the lower roof area. This was only because he didn't receive his last payment. Once [redacted] finally addressed this problem he was paid in full. [redacted] was also supposed to seal all holes and spaces in the wood before the vinyl siding and roof was installed to alleviate a squirrel problem we were having. Since they stripped all layers of old roofing and siding down to the bare wood his workers should have been able to determine what the issues were and address them to solve the squirrel issue in my attic. Unfortunately after [redacted] was paid in full the squirrels returns and [redacted] will not assume any responsibility for this even though he assured me that his work would also address this problem. Then a few months later the roof starting lifting up or buckling on the lower roof and I called [redacted] again and all he gave me was lip service and never even showed up to look at the problem. My son called him after many of my failed attempts and he found out he had just had surgery in the hospital. Therefore we felt bad and my son waited a couple of months for [redacted] to get back on his feet to call him and he continued to give my son the run around and finally hung up on him and wouldn't take his calls. This is not the service or warranty I would have expected based on the assurances that [redacted] the [redacted] of J&B Home Improvements, Inc. gave to me before I signed his agreement.Desired Settlement: For [redacted] from J&B Home Improvements, Inc. to stand behind their work and address all of the issues in a timely manner on the job they completed and were fully paid for in good faith.

Response:

J & B Home Improvement entered into an agreement to perform work; roofing and siding for [redacted]. We were not contracted to build a new home or perform extermination duties. We are not liable for any pre-existing conditions, specifically [redacted]'s said squirrel problem. All work was done in accordance with the original terms, conditions and provisions of the contract and performed timely. [redacted]'s son is a contractor and inspected the job with a magnifying glass; walking up and down our ladders without prior consent and instructing my staff to rip up parts of the roof. I personally explained to him that we shall have no liability for what he has instructed my staff to so. We had revisited [redacted]s job site 7 additional times after the work was completed to be subsequently paid 30 days after the job was completed. As stated, numerous family members were not present when the contract was signed. One son was c oming and going during the installation and the other son I have never met. Both were mad and angry that their mother contracted with J & B Home Improvements, Inc. and were looking for faults in my company's work. All both were doing after the job was completed was threatening and harassing me and my company and using [redacted]'s age as a weapon. J & B Home Improvements should not be held liable for any pre-existing squirrel problems this customer encountered after the work was completed. The buyer had this issue prior to the commencement of the job.
