We hired J and J Remodeling to replace a wrap around porch on our house. We had problems from the very beginning. When [redacted], company owner went to our town to pull the permit, he was told he could not pull the permit until he took an 8 hour course. So he recommended that we pull our own permit. (town inspector had no idea what he was talking about when we told the inspector why we pulled our own permit) It took us three tries to get the permit. It was finally approved and they could start the work. We questioned J and J remodeling when we had to have the inspector come back out, we were told by J and J they didnt have to come back out and foolishly we believed him. They installed new railings and the first thing we noticed is that they were low. We measured them and they were only 29 inches. When speaking with [redacted] he said he asked his guys and his guys said they were fine. we then asked [redacted] what the high requirements were and he said 36 inches. So we told him we measured and they were only 29 inches. He said he would take care of it. He blamed his worker and instead of replacing the railing he took the existing railings and used pieces to make it higher, total eye sore. We complained and they added pieces to try to make it look better. When he went to order supplies he told us the supplier made a mistake on the quote and ended up charging us more for materials. They installed the new colomns but not were the old colomns were, he waited until the project was over and told us he couldnt fix the spots where the old colomns were, that we needed to hire a "metal specialist". So that is a eye sore. We paid him the balance. We had a friend come out who is also a contractor and told us we should call inspector to come out. We did and inspector was very upset he wasnt called earlier. just by looking at the porch he could tell they never lagged the porch to the house, the spacing on the railings where not up to code, the bead board they used for the ceiling was indoor and is alread sagging, told it wouldnt last the winter, we paid for LED lights, they installed halogen lights, the stairs are a hazord, only used three braces so they are moving. The entire time [redacted] was reluctant to take blame for all the mistakes, we pulled the permit so the inspector wasnt able to go after J and J. I thiink J and J accepted this job not having a clue what they were doing and what the codes were. We pain $20000 and now have to hire someone else to fix everything because they are so incompitent with the project we really do not want them touching it. Be very careful if you hire them for a large project.

We hired j&j remodeling to finish off about 550sqf of our basement. [redacted] wrote us a contract and showed us that he was insured and licensed is the state of ri. When he showed up for work we asked about the permit. [redacted] told us that because he was working in an exciting structure that one was not needed. Being new to ri we went ahead with the project. J&J remodeling cut a lot corners. I had an inspection conducted after they had completed work. Nothing passed. They built nothing to my towns code. Oh he also let an employee bring marijuana into my home. He said that he fired the employee but the damage was already done. [redacted] no longer returned my phone calls or text messages. He took his money and ran. Not that I would let him do any type of work in my home again. I would not recommend this company for any type of work in or around your home. Oh they also cut two of my floor joist, big holes in them. I know that is a big no no. He looked me dead in the eye and said it was fine. He lies and does not do what he says he is going to do. Stay away from this company.

Our home was built in 1957 and was badly out of date. Our challenge to J & J Remodeling was to renovate and expand our kitchen, add a new bath, and renovate two master bathrooms and a half bath -- all while retaining its original beach cottage charm. [redacted] succeeded magnificently! She came up with a truly original design for our tight galley kitchen that makes it a wonderful place to cook and gather. J & J Remodeling also remodeled two beautiful master bathrooms, a half bath, and created a new guest bath out of a storage room. The J & J Remodeling group made her designs come to life while dealing with the typical "old house" challenges of uneven floors, and outdated plumbing and electrical. Again, we would highly recommend J & J Remodeling without hesitation

Last summer I was thinking about renovating my bathroom. After receiving three estimates I chose J & J Remodeling. [redacted] told me it would take approximately three weeks from start to finish to have my bathroom completed. They did an amazing job in a timely manner. Thanks to them, I now have the bathroom I always envisioned. I recommend J & J Remodeling to anyone looking to have any work performed in their home at an affordable price. I know I cant wait to have them remodel my kitchen next year!

J & J Remodeling recently installed 12 windows in my older home. Their prices were reasonable. There salesman was very nice- no pressure. Their installers were polite and professional and did a great job. From sales, product and installation- all were excellent. I wouldn't go anywhere else for windows (I have more to do). If your considering replacing your windows, I strongly recommend them

A month ago I had J & J Remodeling out to my home to give me an estimate on a finish basement. There knowledge, combined with there no high pressure sale tactics was the reason I decided to go with them. In just three weeks I had more living space, an additional bathroom and the basement I always wanted. If you are planning on doing any home renovations I strongly recommend them.

The team from J & J Remodeling - starting with the visit from [redacted] and his vision...through the concept and design phase...demolition...re-building...and finally through to the final detailed finish work...was professional, experienced, helpful, polite, neat, detail oriented, and high quality workmanship. When there were issues with the job (which have to be expected when doing a major renovation like I did in my kitchen/dining room - removing bearing wall etc), the response from the team was just right. They stayed on time and on budget. The demolition was neat and orderly. The construction and finish work was great. I'm so pleased with the final product!
