Janis' Pug Puppies

We decided to purchase a pug puppy from a supposed online breeder (AKC puppies). We purchased the puppy for $750 which included airline fee and delivery to our home. We had to send the payment via moneygram. Should have been a red flag. We also should have asked more questions such as dog parent names and AKC numbers to verify that Missy the puppy was AKC. We probably would have been ok if she wasn't as we did not plan on showing her. After we sent the payment we were told that the puppy would be sent with papers, vaccine info, toys, blanket, leash, food, and the dog would be sent in a temperature controlled crate. We were excited to know that our puppy was on the way. The next morning, when the puppy was to be shipped, we were contacted by the shipping company. We were told that we had to pay for an airconditioned crate that would be $1300 or $1600 to rent. That is not what was discussed with the breeder. We were also told we had to send cash via moneygram for the crate fee and we would get reimbursed 98% of the cost. We refused to do it. What reputable business requires all cash via moneygram. I am not sure if there is a puppy still quarantined at a shipping location or if it is a lie. We are out $750 and a puppy. We were not sending money to a person for a crate. Should have been to a company (the carrier). Our questions were not answered but we were accused of being nasty and mean for leaving a dog at a carrier.
